Unfortunately, this book was another case of an amazing premise that didn’t live up to its own expectations.
I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ARC provided by Xpresso Book Tours.

Fa La La is a holiday-themed, genderswapped Robin Hood retelling.
This book was fun although there were some darker moments.

Thank you for the ARC! I didn’t like this book. The writing feels immature. I liked that the book was short and to the point, but disliked how perfectly things wrapped up for the main character and felt zero love connection between the main characters. Christmas reads are usually corny which I enjoy but this one was just…not good.

Loved this book. Super cute and was the perfect holiday read. Would read more from this author!! Great concept, plot, and mix of romance.

I definitely didn’t like this book. It was boring for me. The book lacked romance. The story line was rushed, and I felt the characters didn’t have a deep connection. I didn’t feel any type of connection between characters at all

Firstly, thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read Fa La La by Michelle Cornish!
Unfortunately, this book didn’t live up to my expectations. I didn’t hate it by any means, but I just didn’t love it either.
The premise of this book sounds so cute and the plot is a great one. A sorta modern day, female Rodinhood kind of story. But it just fell flat for me.
I had a really hard time getting into it. I feel like the story was so rushed that a lot of detail, that could have made it so much better, was left out just to keep it short.
I don’t even know where Jake and Robin started to have feelings for each other. It was like one minute Robin didn’t like Jake, and avoided him at all costs and all of a sudden she’s in love. There wasn’t really any development to their relationship.
Honestly, I really wish I could have loved this book! There is so much potential for this to be an amazing story but as is, it just didn’t work for me.

This was a very fast read. I did enjoy the theme of this one, but it fell flat in a lot of areas. Robin works for the Nottingham Hotel and her along with her two friends are embezzling cash to give to Robin's brother for her niece's medical bills. Trouble comes when the hotel notices a decline in revenue and hires an accounting firm to look into it. Jake is the accountant looking into these issues and he finds more than what he bargained for. He falls for Robin as she does him all while he uncovers the truth in the on goings at the Nottingham Hotel. I feel like this one lacked in the romance between Robin and Jake. I never had a connection with either of them and felt like every part of this story was rushed. Maybe more detail, more of the story line, and character development would have made it better.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this for my honest review.
Unfortunately, I couldn't connect with the characters in this book. I did read the whole book, as I am not a fan of not finishing books, but was simply... Underwhelmed.

This was cute but there wasn’t much to it. The characters were kind of blah in my opinion, but there’s nothing necessarily wrong with it. It was a quick read for me and I loved the festive atmosphere, I just kept getting annoyed at the characters. I know there are a million and one holiday books to be reading so I’d probably put this one to the end of your list if you’re trying to prioritize!

Thank you for allowing me to read this story!!

Was so excited for this book but unfortunately I wasn't able to get into it or the characters.. the storyline just wasn't for me.

This book archived before I was able to get it on my Kobo device again. I will try to get it from the library in the future around Christmas time next year.

It was an ok read, the story seemed a bit rushed. Would have like to have more chemistry between the main characters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Adorable rom-com just in time to read right around the holidays. This was a quick read & was super sweet! Think holiday Hallmark movie vibe. Will look for more from Michelle Cornish. Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC. #booksbyashleynicole

This book was set during Christmas but really didn't have a Christmas feel to it. For me, the characters lacked chemistry and their relationship seemed a bit unrealistic. I enjoyed some of the supporting characters and loved some of the visuals the author was able to portray about the hotel and town.
All in all it was a quick read, but the main characters lacked depth.

Unfortunately, this book was another case of an amazing premise that didn’t live up to its own expectations.
The idea of telling the story from two main characters—one of whom has been stealing from her employer in order to help her brother pay medical bills from a car accident that killed his wife and injured his daughter, and the other being the accountant brought in to find out who’s stealing and a romance develops—really pulled me in. However, things fell apart pretty quickly.
First of all, there was no chemistry between the two leads, and because it was such a short story, the insta-love was strong. There was cringey dialogue between not just the two leads but also their friends and coworkers—none of it felt as natural as it should’ve been between people who knew each other for so long.
The story was also all telling and no showing. There were no descriptions about anything, and the characters’ every movements were told to you instead of being shown.
The end was particularly disappointing. Robin and her friends faced no consequences at all for stealing almost 50,000 dollars of money from their employer. Robin was actually begged to stay in her position, wasn’t fired or arrested or anything. It was ridiculous.
This story could’ve been so interesting but ultimately fell flat. I would not recommend reading this book; there are plenty of better holiday stories to read instead, like In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren.

I feally wanted to like this book but sadly it just wasn't for me. The characters were unable to make a connection with me as a reader. I still don't know how I feel about the mc and her friends stealing the money instead of trying to raise the needed amount for her niece. It just felt wrong the whole time. The good side is that it's a super quick read.

This book unfortunately did not hit the mark at all. While I understand the appeal of enemies to lovers, this took it to a whole new level. There is no universe where embezzlement should be used the crux of the “relationship”. First of all, an accountant would never just be okay with that and second, a boss would never just let that go. While I did enjoy some of the sweeter Christmas moments, this book was a complete miss.

I enjoyed this very much. Would definitely recommend. I read this early on before I got into the swing of my Christmas rhythm and it definitely helped bring out the season. I think what the main character was doing to help her niece and brother out was nice even if it was wrong. Overall a good story.

Cute and Christmassy, this nice easy read was a fun passing of an evening, sweet, writing was nice and our characters were sweet , light and fluffy Christmas romp

A holiday enemies-to-lovers/Robin Hood story.
Robin’s brother and niece have hospital bills to pay, and Robin devises a plan (with the help of her co-workers) to get them the money they need to pay off their debts. When a new accounting firm gets brought in to figure out who’s stealing from the hotel, Robin is sure she’ll be standing in the unemployment line very soon. What Robin doesn’t see coming is an intense attraction to the new number cruncher sharing her office.
Character development was sufficient regarding Robin and Jake. I would’ve preferred a little more about the secondary characters as well - but that’s a personal preference. Also, Jake’s mother was a bit of a nuisance and highly unprofessional. I’m not exactly sure why her character was essential in the story, as it got confusing when she was described as Cruella De Vil (would’ve sufficed to stick with one fable, instead of bringing another into the mix as well).
