I loved the silly nature of this story and the grim aspects that keep the story fresh! I was a bit weary when it started off as a story about looks but the wishes made the story great! Children of all ages will love this book because of the ending!

Fun early reader concerning three combative chickens, all duty-bound by the end to learn a lesson about vanity, for they all consider themselves the most beautiful on the farm. Once again this publishing house plunders a (relatively) unheard-of (ie unheard of by me) British backlist, but even though this is from 2012 this is still fresh, lively and suitably meaningful as ever. A strong four stars.

I thought that this was a fab book!

The story was easy to read and follow and the illustrations worked really well with the story.

The story had a great ending and I thought it was really funny.

I read the book with my 5-year-old daughter and it made us both smile.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, a great message taken from the book – very highly recommended and a fun read!

My 7 year old loved this funny poultry themed version of the three wishes. He laughed and loved finding the similarities between the original and this one.

Three chickens, Nora, Dora, and Flora are in competition as to whom is the most beautiful of the three. They cluck and squabble all day long annoying and getting on the nerves of the other chickens around them.

Their peers suggest that they should ask the farmer who is the most beautiful. Nora, Dora, and Flora think that is a brilliant idea and squawk along as they seek him out. They agree that it will be wonderful to hear his opinion.

On the way the three meet up with a wise old goat who suggests maybe it is better to be good friends than to be arguing constantly about who is the most beautiful. He is worried about their safety once the farmer meets them. I wonder why he thinks that?

The old goat offers them three wishes to help them on their way and cautions them to use the wishes wisely as there will be no more granted.

Off they waddle arguing now about who should have the three wishes. Unfortunately the three squander the wishes and do not use them for redemption purposes or to cultivate a wonderful friendship between the trio. Will they ever accept each other and finally become good friends?

This book is a winner. I love the humorous illustrations that are full of expression and fun. The storyline is hilarious and the moral of the story is a wonderful life lesson for both young and old. It highlights how envy, vanity and pride can be very destructive in relationships and how much simpler it would be to cultivate and be good friends. The book is awesome and I highly recommend it.

This is a funny story about three chickens who could be friends, but instead they keep arguing about who the most beautiful is. They are granted three wishes by an Old Wise Goat and of course they do not use them well.

The illustration is cute, and the three chickens have totally different appearance and personalities. We had so much fun with my daughter while reading this picture book.

Three Silly Chickens by Tanya Fenton is a silly story that will have young children laughing out loud. While three chickens each think they are the most beautiful, wise old goat grants them three wishes. Each chicken wishes to change the other’s appearance to rid them of their beauty. The farmer ultimately decides the chickens are too ugly to be cooked in his oven and sends them back to the henhouse. The three silly chickens learn that being a good friend is much more important than possessing physical beauty. A picture book with great illustrations, humor and a strong moral to teach- you simply can’t ask for more than that!

I first want to thank NetGalley, the author Tanya Fenton everyone else involved with providing me with this kindle book for a review. I thought the main idea of the book was good and how you need to be careful what you wish for! The illustrations were very fun and will be reading it to my daughter soon as well. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Three Silly Chickens is a fun and silly book that kids will love and make them giggle. It's colorful and spunky, and talks about friendship. I'd definitely pick this one up for my classroom.

EGG-cellent original story! Beautifully written with fun illustrations, this is a great story about how vanity and pride can cause quite the problem for a peck of hens, and how it’s much simpler to just be friends! A great message for kids old and young!

Such a fun book. The story is engaging but not too long that you lose audiences. The illustrations are done so well and love the story and it’s message! This is creative like you want to see from childrens fiction!

A precious and fun little story about three chickens named Nora, Dora, and Flora who have an unfortunate little habit of arguing daily about who is the most beautiful of the three. Despite the fact that they’re all beautiful in their own very different ways, they insist on letting a third party decide who is truly the belle of the ball out of the three of them. In the end, their jealousy and envy and desire to make the others less beautiful than they ironically makes them all exceedingly unsightly looking. However, in the end, their beauty turned sheer horrific looks saves them from being the Farmer’s juicy plump chicken dinner. In the end all three chickens stop bragging about their beauty and celebrate their ugliness, and give up arguing over their beauty once and for all. This one is hilarious and absolutely precious!
