I got through this book so quickly. It was hard to put down & I loved the storyline. You know it's a good series when you can read a book a day all while still adulting 😁😁 I sure hope this author keep writing more Scottish romance novels because I will definitely be buying them!!

The fifth book in the Warriors of the Highlands series another great story in this series. David Douglas and Sorcha, the beloved adopted daughter of Laird and Lady Campbell's story of two people who can not stand each other at the start. The story has drama, danger, suspense, a villain closer than they realize and romance. I enjoyed seeing their story come together with all it twists and turns. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lady Sorcha has her heart set on marrying a man that will be her champion. Captain David Douglas doesn't seem to fit that description, and in fact he always thought of Sorcha as an annoying kid. But he definitely sees her differently now. Sorcha doesn't like David, but when an opportunity to prove himself arises, she just might have reason to change her mind. The book was fast, she was a bit childish but all in all good.

A moving plot, but Lady Sorcha is whiny and goes around with her head in the clouds. Granted in 1313 Scotland, girls married young, I get it, but I had a hard time staying wrapped up in the story with her childish displays. David Douglas had his own issues, but he kept getting mixed signals. Most interesting is Sorcha's history before living with the Campbell's. Included are brief moments with King Robert the Bruce.
Heat level 2.

This is a first time read for me by this author, so I didn't know what to expect. This was the perfect highland story that was fast-paced with adventure, romance, and drama. The author did a great job of creating scenes so vividly, especially the action scenes, I could clearly picture them in my mind's eye and feel the tension and excitement myself.

The story was well-written with an exciting plotline that had me glued and turning the pages till the end. I thought the character development was also well done, giving them depth and interesting personalities. I very much enjoyed the book and hope to go back and read the ones I've missed.

I could not get past the excessive overuse of the words “mayhap” or “och” to fully get into this story. (I picked up the first book in the series and then peeked at the other three but skipped them because they all suffer from the same.) Beyond that hot mess, I quite liked the MMC and felt that he redeemed the romance. The FMC was really childish and annoying. I was laughing out loud during the barn scene so she wasn’t a deal breaker. Their chemistry could have been stronger and the spice turned up, but the antics of the plot were entertaining enough.

Thank you Oliver Heber Books for the advance reader copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

I thought the book was very good. The romance was fresh and genuine. The action was was very entertaining. I loved that the action scenes helped the book to b a page turner. I loved that the writer included historical facts to touch the realistic elements of the story. One thing that stood out the most is the characters Sorcha’s age was written in at the age of nineteen. The intimate romantic scenes I had to imagine Sorcha as an older character. Perhaps if the age of Sorcha was glossed over a little or not mentioned at all.

My Highland Champion by Miriam Minger is the story of a beautiful young woman, Lady Sorcha Campbell, who was declining all her many suitors, waiting for her champion. She would know him when she found him. David Douglas was the Captain of her father’s guards. He was not really her father. Her parents had taken her in and raised here when her own parents died. Her father, Cameron, was in no hurry to see her wed, so he happily sent them on their way when they arrived, pursuing her hand. There was a battle after the marauders killed the messenger from the king and then, wounded Cameron when he and his men attacked them. So when the message requesting the presence of Cameron and his wife, and Sorcha, David was assigned the duty of taking her and guarding her. When the got there the king had been delayed and several surprises greeted them.

This was a lovely romance. Both of them believed the other was indifferent, when they both had been falling in love. David was strong and honorable and took his responsibility as guardian very seriously. Sorcha had had a crush on him when she was younger, but he had hurt her feelings so she told herself she hated him. Both were strong characters. The adventure was both dangerous and enlightening. The plot was engaging, and the dangers never stopped popping up. It was a good read.

I was invited to read My Highland Champion by Oliver-Heber Books, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley#OliverHeberBooks #MiriamMinger # MyHighlandChampion

Scotland 1313

A beautiful girl who awaits her knight in shining armor and true love, does not realize he is right there in front of her.

He was the head guard of her clan and had irritated and pestered her since she was young. But now, he has to protect her on a journey and it seems she is grown up and no longer the pesky girl from years past!

A page turner filled with adventure, wonderful characters and a fast paces plot that leads the two to work together to stay safe. In a word, simply fabulous!

Lady Sorcha has been refusing all the suitors that visit because she's always dreamt of a true champion, just like her adopted father.
Our heroine has had a lot of heartbreak in her life. Unfortunately that has not stopped her from acting like a brat.
David Douglas is the captain of the guard and is about to take on a very dangerous task.
Our hero is trying his best to protect someone who is fighting him at every stage.
Lots of danger and unscrupulous villains. There are quite a few giggles in it as well.
Good fun.

This author writes such superb historical romances. I have read multiple books of hers and have never been disappointed!

Sorcha is feisty and has no intention of marrying for anything other than love - to her champion (when she meets him!). She knows fervently that her champion definitely isn't captain David! He infuriates her. And how dare he kiss her! She absolutly hasn't thought of it over and over...

David isn't sure why he kissed Sorcha, but can't say he regrets it. Also, he might be falling in love with her...

After a summons to a nearby castle has unexpected and grim results, revealing a secret from Sorcha's past, David and Sorcha have to rely on each other until they can reach help. Will the experience bring them together?

“Beauty it would seem is both a blessing and a curse.” By author Bertrice Small 1937-2015

Campbell Castle
ARGYLLSHIRE, SCOTLAND
1313

Sorcha Campbell refuses to marry anyone until she meets her one true love and the champion of her dreams! It must be someone like her adopted father, Cameron Campbell who had been awarded a castle, property and a royal title as a Baron. It is because of his heroic deeds and efforts in saving King Robert the Bruce’s life. It was from the betraying traitorous clan MacDougall, who is a Scottish clan who sides with the English with brutality, deception and murder!

The other champions to Sorcha is Cameron’s brother Conall and their former commander Gabriel and Gavin MacLachlan. They all found women that they love, respect and worship that each treats their wives like a Goddess or a Queen. Being surrounded by theses champion’s how can Sorcha want anything less? Each man is brave, honorable, and a protector, who would defend his family and clan and all he loves with his last dying breath!

Lady Sorcha Campbell had been surrounded by tragedy for a good portion of her life. First, by the death of her biological mother Mairi in a shipwreck. Luckily she was discovered by Leath and Jeanne MacLean who became Sorcha’s first adoptive parents, until the English murdered them six years ago. It is where Cameron and Aislinn Campbell discovered Sorcha and saved her life!

For King Robert’s life has been most difficult with a wife and Queen who has been held captive for the past 7 years and his daughter by her deceased first wife has been held in a English nunnery. Plus not to mention the hideous deaths of his brothers by the English. Yet King Robert rewards those who are loyal risking their own lives to protect him and Scotland. These are men are hero’s like Camden and Conall Campbell, as well as Gabriel and Gavin MacLachlan too. Now due to Sorcha’s incredible beauty and of course a very large dowry too, men all over Scotland were asking for her hand in marriage . Except she rejected every offer waiting for her one true champion to appear!

Every man of high rank wants her except for David Douglas the Captain of her her adopted father’s guard. The only man who was not taken in by Sorcha Campbell was David Douglas! He treated her like an annoying little sister since he was 15! Now she once idolized and followed him around. David ignored Sorcha or teased her relentlessly breaking her heart. Now after David was away for a month he returns realizing he was madly in love with Sorcha. Except she rejects him like he did to her. Now he is assigned to bring Sorcha to see the King and since Camden is healing from a MacDougall attack he is to act as her guardian and protector. A duty he takes very seriously and when she seems to take advantage he puts her in her place which embarrasses her and makes her furious!

Now another places her in danger and forces Sorcha’s hopes and dreams to fall apart. Is it too little, too late for this starcrossed couple who both have the power to shatter and destroy both of their hearts? Will Sorcha ever realize that the champion of her dreams is right beneath her nose? Read and find out.

I was drawn into this novel immediately from the first paragraph where the Campbell warriors are all putting wagers on how fast Sorcha would send her next suitor packing! This book was so beautifully mapped out and written brilliantly, plus capturing my heart too! However I loved how the author weaves true Scottish history into this emotional romance that at times had me in tears. So I definitely recommend to have some tissues nearby. I think this is my favorite book of the series but I have loved them all. I am definitely a David Douglas fan! I have been a fan of Miriam Minger for years and again she pens another masterpiece that I absolutely loved and will definitely revisit and read again!

This was a wonderful story with two young stubborn people. David has always pestered Sorcha, since they were kids. Now as adults he loves to annoy her, but lately he has realized how much he cares for her. Sorcha is a very strong willed person who is dead set against having anything to do with David. When she has to travel to see the king and David is her protector they aggravate each other all the more. David is just trying to keep Sorcha safe, but she doesn’t see it that way. Will they survive all of the dangers and twists thrown their way and not hate each other? I was given a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This story is about David and Sorcha, who have know each other for many years. They have been at odds for most of those years, ever since David was dismissive of Sorcha when she was following him around like a little puppy. Sorcha's affection for David was killed and she began to find all of his faults and her dislike built. Years have passed and David goes home to visit his family and when he comes back after a month and when he sees Sorcha, he sees her in a whole new light. Sorcha has not has this epiphany. She doesn't have it for most of the book. There is a lot that goes on before we get the HEA, but I wish that Sorcha had realized her feelings earlier. Other than that it was a good story. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy.

He Was Her True Champion

David had been at Campbell Castle for the past six year and both he and Sorcha never saw eye to eye. He thought she was always under his feet so constantly insulted her and she thought he was arrogant, mean and bossy.

Wonderful enemies to lovers romantic love story. Sorcha has always dreamed of falling in love with a champion who would save her. David had returned back to the Castle a month after being away and after kissing her, he realised that he was in love with her but circumstances are not what they seem and Sorcha is in danger. He would do anything to protect her, even give his life for her but as danger gets closer, they have to escape to the King for help.

I do enjoy a really good Scottish romance and this is a really good entertaining story.

David and Sorcha grew up together, but after David pushed her away Sorcha hardened her heart against him. Now at nineteen Sorcha cannot stand to be near him and has nothing civil to say to him. David has changed his tune now that he is older and has come to care for her. He does not know if he can overcome their unfortunate history. As captain of the guard, he is now charged with protecting and delivering Sorcha to the king. Sorcha has been dreaming of the champion that she will marry, but she might just discover he has been close at hand all her life.

This was a quick-paced novel with action, heart, and romance. I really liked David's character and I felt he was the rock the book was written around. Sorcha had her moments, but she was written very young and spoiled. David spent most of the book getting her out of trouble and carrying her around because she was too emotional or stunned to walk herself. Sorcha aside, I liked all the other characters and the story itself. It was a good read.

My Highland Champion is the fifth book in the Warriors of the Highlands series, and it follows the adopted daughter of Cameron and Aislinn from My Highland Protector (book 2). Now nineteen, Sorcha has rejected many suitors because she is waiting for her champion, a man who will love her the way her father loves her mother. Certainly not someone like the captain of the guard. She and David don’t like each other at all.

David’s been at the keep since he was fifteen years old, and he has always treated Sorcha like an annoying little sister, much to her dismay. But after a six-month absence, David returns to the keep and sees Sorcha in a completely different light. When Sorcha’s father is severely wounded in battle and then summoned, along with his wife and Sorcha, by the King, unable to travel, Sorcha’s father sends David to escort Sorcha in his stead. However, nothing goes according to plan, especially when Sorcha is abducted by a dangerous clan leader. As David valiantly rushes to save his love, Sorcha realizes that maybe the champion she’s been waiting for has been there all along.

I always enjoy a rivals-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers romance, so I was eager to get into Sorcha and David’s love story. They are so antagonistic toward each other, and yet you can tell there’s a lot of sexual tension between them. The sparks really fly when these two verbally spar! Sorcha and David have known each other for years, since childhood, and sometimes it’s hard to forget childhood antics and mistakes and see the person as an adult. I think time away gave David a bit of perspective, and when he came back, he realized his antagonistic frustrations disguised his true feelings.

Sorcha hides her feelings behind a spoiled and bratty façade and antagonistic banter. She knows she wants the kind of relationship her adopted parents have, and she won’t settle for less now that she’s seen the beauty of a true love match. Like David, Sorcha’s not ready to admit that her feelings for David are the opposite of antagonistic. Watching both characters figure out their feelings is sweet, romantic, and intense, especially considering the dangerous situations they find themselves in throughout the story.

The plot is suspenseful and as intense as the chemistry between Sorcha and David. Betrayals, lies, kidnappings, deadly battles, and more plague the characters, and I was so worried about one of my favorites from a previous book in the series. They all face a lot of danger, brutality, and battle in their lives, and it makes their HEAs even more profound. To find beauty and love in the midst of such turmoil is a wonderful thing.

Special thanks to Oliver Heber Books for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Thanks NetGalley for this copy!

I am a sucker for a sweet Highland romance, and this one didn’t disappoint. It was the kind of fluffy read that’s perfect for a rainy day.

I loved the banter between the MCs, although sometimes it was a little predictable. There was plenty of action, lots of romance, and some beautiful friendships.

I’d recommend this one to a fellow Scottish romance lover for sure.

Sorcha is the 19 year old adopted daughter of a powerful Scottish laird. She continues to reject suitors as she is waiting for her champion. David is the recently prompted captain of the guard. He has been at the keep since he was 15 years old. They do not get along…primarily because David pushed her away when she was younger following him around everywhere and he treated her like a pesky younger sister. The laird is injured in a battle and is unable to travel when the king requests their presence. David goes as Sorcha’s guardian to meet with the king. A little intrigue and battle with a lot of angst results in a nice romance and HEA. I enjoyed the storyline, the plot was well developed although some questions were left unanswered. . Sorcha does come of as a little bit spoiled but overall a good story and one I would recommend.

A champion....it's all Sorcha wants, a champion who will love and protect her. It's certainly not David, her father's captain of the guard, as they don't like each other at all. He thinks of her as a spoiled brat and she thinks of him as an insufferable pain in the arse!! As they are forced to spend more time together and with danger surrounding them, love blossoms between them but unspoken words lead to misunderstandings.

I did enjoy this story and found it well written. In fact, I'm such a huge fan of Robert the Bruce, any mention of him in a book is a treat for me.
