A picture-perfect romance in my eyes, this was a book I felt emotionally invested in from the get-go, and by the end of it, I was clasping it to my heart so hard, I almost cracked my eReader in the process.

Thank you to netgalley for providing an e-galley for review. Things We Hide from the Light is Nash's story. Nash is the police chief in Knockemout where we met Knox in book 1. Nash had a thrilling storyline in that book and we get to follow it up in this book. Enter Lina Solvita, a bounty hunter looking for a missing Porsche. This is when things to start to heat up again in Knockemout. Clocking in at over 500 pages, this story moves along at a blistering pace and doesn't feel anywhere close to that long.

Another great read by Lucy Score. Another great addition for my library. Another great addition to the Knockemout series starring Nash and Lina this time. I enjoyed how they learned to be vulnerable with each other.

Lucy Score is an auto-buy author for me, and she never disappoints. I loved the first book in this series, so I was excited to get my hands on book two. Her characters are well-developed. I became engrossed in her stories. I will be thinking about Nash and Lina for a long time. Do yourself a favor and read this series if you have not started yet! Now I need book three!

In Lucy Score's captivating novel, "Things We Hide from the Light," readers are introduced to Nash Morgan, the chief of police in the small town of Knockemout. Known for his charming personality and friendly demeanor, Nash's life takes a dark turn after he survives a shooting incident. Plagued by panic attacks and haunting nightmares, he struggles to maintain his former self. However, when he crosses paths with Lina, his intriguing new neighbor, a spark is ignited that has the power to heal both their wounded souls. One of the remarkable aspects of this book is the depth of character development. Nash is portrayed as a brooding figure, battling his inner demons while desperately concealing his vulnerability from those around him. Lina, on the other hand, presents as a strong and independent woman with her own secrets to keep. As their lives intertwine, readers are drawn into their complex emotional journey, where the physical connection between Nash and Lina becomes a lifeline for both of them. Score's storytelling prowess shines as she weaves together the threads of romance, suspense, and personal growth. The chemistry between Nash and Lina is palpable, their encounters charged with a raw sensuality that leaves readers yearning for more. But amidst their undeniable attraction, both characters face obstacles that threaten to tear them apart. Lina's hidden agenda and her reluctance to commit clash with Nash's desire for a meaningful and lasting relationship. The tension builds, creating a captivating dynamic that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Set against the backdrop of the small town of Knockemout, Score expertly creates an immersive and atmospheric environment. The vivid descriptions breathe life into the setting, allowing readers to feel the Southern charm and experience the close-knit community firsthand. The town itself becomes a character, exerting its influence on Nash and Lina and forcing them to confront their fears and embrace their vulnerabilities. "Things We Hide from the Light" is a compelling tale that explores the complexities of love, trust, and the healing power of human connection. Lucy Score's writing is engaging and evocative, capturing the essence of her characters' struggles and triumphs with authenticity. Readers will find themselves emotionally invested in Nash and Lina's journey, rooting for their happiness while fearing the dangers that lurk in the shadows. In conclusion, "Things We Hide from the Light" is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance and suspense. Lucy Score's ability to craft compelling characters and gripping narratives shines through in this novel. With its blend of passion, mystery, and personal growth, this book will keep readers hooked until the very last page. Prepare to be swept away by a story that will make you laugh, cry, and ultimately believe in the power of love, even in the face of darkness.

This was long and the story seemed more drawn out than necessary. I like the story and characters but wish it was more concise.

Nash Morgan. Enough said.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Lina in the first book but she for sure grew on me. Her temperament with Nash and all his baggage was sweet to watch unfold across the pages. She just understood what he needed.

Nash… STUDLY DO RIGHT. Oh man. I for sure pictured a scruffy Jensen Ackles as Nash. Am I right?? He is my favorite Morgan brother, that is for sure. The mouth on that man!

I only wished the mystery of the shooting and end result was sped up a bit.. I felt like there was a good chunk ¾ of the way that could have been packed with more.

I loved that all the characters from the first book were in this one and I CANNOT wait for Lucian and Sloan’s book. Those two have explosive chemistry. And lots of hate. What else could a girl ask for??

Consider me a Lucy Score fangirl after finishing THINGS WE HIDE FROM THE LIGHT! This one was definitely more hard-hitting and emotional than the first book in the series, but equally as charming and delightful.

I am head over heels in love with this book! *Swoon* I fell in love with these characters in book 1 so I was really happy to get to see their story continue. Nash is incredibly sweet and has a great personality. I love the whole good guy/bad girl thing they have.

The anxiety and PTSD rep is spot on in this book. There are a few scenes where Nash experiences a panic attack and Lucy's writing made it feel very realistic and relatable. My heart hurt for him and it's no wonder that Lina had a hard time keeping herself out of his orbit. He would be impossible to ignore!

In my experience, the second book is never as good as the first but I actually loved this book more. There was adventure, lots of sass, and a delicious amount of steam. Lucy sure does know how to write about intimate moments in a way that can make grown women blush. Even though this story was almost 600 pages long, I still was bummed when it ended. I can't wait to go back to Knockemout in September so I can hear Lucian's story. I am 100% certain that Lucian is going to be my next book boyfriend.

Loved it! Lucy Score has a way of writing romance that feels real and raw. She doesn't shy away from her characters flaws and even embraces them. Knox's story is no different. The character growth in Things We Hide from the Light is refreshing. 5 stars

I'm ready to move to Knockemout! Was definitely looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint! Filled with a ton of romance, drama, friendships, and more... I was totally sucked in from the beginning.

I think this story did a good job of looking into aspects like PTSD, especially after near-death experiences.

I love how the folks of Knockemont embrace new people, like Lina, one of the MCs. It gives emphasis to the fond family theme.

Small-town romances are growing on me.

Wow, this was a lot of words for very little story. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and wished things would move faster. Will not be reading the third book of the trilogy.

This book wasn’t quite what I was expecting but I loved it none the less. Really. I don’t know what I was even expecting. It set me up perfectly for the final installment.

In Things We Hide from the Light we are returned to Knockemout to follow the story of Nash Morgan as he recovers from the events that occurred in book one. Recovering from the shooting and still trying to solve the mystery of who shot him, Nash is broody and grumpy and struggling to maintain his role as sheriff, Enter Lina, his brother’s best friend, and a woman who is the complete opposite of Nash in every way. While book is filled with banter, good boy/bad girl, close proximity, and of course small town romance, it still addresses some deep issues. Lucy uses TWHFTL to provide representation to mental health issues such as depression, panic attacks, and PTSD. As well as doing a wonderful job at demonstrating health ways to set boundaries in relationships, and acknowledging that everyone is responsible for working through their own baggage (aka you are not responsible for fixing anyone else). This is a great book for fans of Lucy Score, and for lovers of small town romances.

Thank you Bloom Books and NetGalley for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review!
