Lucy absolutely outdid herself with this one. I didn’t think it would be possible to enjoy this book more than the first one but I was so wrong.
Nash and Lina are SOULMATES. This book was real, emotional, funny and just brilliantly written.
I can’t for Lucian and Sloane’s book…

I love the plots in this series. They are so much more than just a grumpy sunshine romance. The story is what really sucks you in! You absolutely need to read Things We Never Get Over before reading this book, or you will be crazy confused.

I had some problems with it, like Nash being a totally different person than he was in the first book and the way some scenes were written. I don’t like how LS writes her romance scenes and how the men are over controlling and manipulate. Honestly found myself skipping to the end of the chapter at times because it was just way too much for me. But overall, it’s a solid read.

I wish Nash was more like Nash in the first book, because by the end of the book he was basically Knox. A lot of the plot was recycled which was a bummer, because plot and characters were just like TWNGO.

Also fair warning, *this book is incredibly dirty and swears a couple times per page* 5/5 spice in my opinion!

I recently discovered Lucy Score here on NetGalley and I love her. This one does not disappoint. Her characters are all well fleshed out and she’s amazing at creating grumpy, hot male leads. She’s also really good with spicy scenes. As someone who loves a good slow burn, Lucy Score is a fantastic “slow burner”. I’m a fan. Can’t wait for the next one. I’ll be IG stalking her for updates.

This is the second book in the Knockemout series. Although it is a standalone, it is better to read the first book. The H is the chief of police who was shot and left in a ditch. He has no memory of what happened and suffers from panic attacks. The h is an insurance investigator who is friends with the H’s brother. The two have a combustible relationship. Both are looking for the men who kidnapped the H’s future sister-in -law and her niece. I recommend this book.
I received an ARC from net galley.

I knew that it would be hard to tip Knox & Naomi’s story but if anyone could do it then it had to be the finest ass in Knockemout, Nash Morgan. This was such a fun both that captures friendship, love, hometowns, and family so beautifully with just the right amount humor and cheesiness. Lani, the badass heroine, and Nash, the Chief with a butt that doesn’t quit, had an amazing story that EVERYONE needs to read. 10/10 overall and 3.5/5 spice rating

Things We Never Got Over was easily one of my top reads of the past year so to say I was excited for Things We Hide From The Light is an understatement. And thankfully, Nash and Lina’s story did not disappoint! TWHFL picks up right after TWNGO, and I do recommend reading TWNGO first - I had to skim over the last couple chapters of TWNGO to remind myself what happened.

Nash is the nicer, kinder, more upstanding Morgan brother who is still recovering from the events of TWNGO, both physically and mentally. He meets his match in Lina, his brother’s badass ex-girlfriend who becomes his new neighbor while she’s in town for reasons unknown. The chemistry between them was immediate and I loved their flirtations even as they tried to fight it - but once they gave in, boy was it molten hot.

The magic of the author’s writing is not only in her humor, which is guaranteed to make me laugh out loud, but also in her ability to write such realistic characters and settings that you feel like you might actually stumble across this rough-around-the-edges town and hang out with them. Her characters are wonderfully flawed and make mistakes and I love how realistic that is.

Along with the laughs, steam, and emotions, this story also had a good bit of danger and mystery that I loved watching unravel. Despite its length, I tore through the pages of this and was never bored for one second. It has all the excellent characters from TWNGO, plus we pick up a few more new friends as well and it was a delight to read them all interacting. There is not much I love more than small town shenanigans and Knockemout has those in spades.

I was left with a smile on my face and a blush on my cheeks and I just really enjoyed the ride from start to finish. There’s a reason Lucy Score is one of my all time favorite authors and this story just cements that even more.

Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn't about to let anyone in his life know he's struggling. But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she's not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash's touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.

Too bad Lina's got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she's in town, he'll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn't do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she's after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people's skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he's not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.
After being shot, Nash Morgan, the once-charming chief of police, is now plagued by panic attacks and nightmares. Though he tries to keep his struggles to himself, his new neighbor Lina sees right through his facade. Despite her general aversion to physical contact, Lina can't help but feel a special connection with Nash that is both grounding and electrifying.

However, Lina is keeping secrets of her own, and if Nash discovers the truth, he'll never forgive her. Plus, she's not interested in anything serious and is only looking for a short-term fling. But as she spends more time in the town of Knockemout, she begins to question her own rules.

Meanwhile, Nash is determined to make Lina his, even if it means facing the danger that almost took his life. But will Lina be willing to stick around once she's gotten what she came for? The sparks between them are undeniable, but is the risk of exploring them worth it?

OMG!!! I FINALLY FINISHED AND I LOVED IT!!!

While Nash and Lina were the bees knees, I couldn't help but melt a little bit into a pile of goo whenever a Waylay and Know scene came up. Then to add in the adorable Piper and I was toast. Also, gotta mention there is nothing better than a small town where your business is everyones business. No secrets are kept, unless you are a bad guy in hiding.

All the thoughtful and expertly shared details made the book a must read. The entire story was evenly paced and wrapped up nicely, proving to be an excellent addition to the first book of the series. I can't wait until we get Lucian and Sloane's book!

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This was such a slow burn, but worth it in the end!! This was much darker than the first book as we get to know more about Nash and Lina. I loved seeing the whole crew together, and I love the dual pov. This one rally focused more on the mystery aspect of the story compared to the first one. Nolan might have been one of my favorite side characters and hope to see more of him. I’m looking forward to more Lucian next book.

Thank you Bloom books and Rick from That’s What She Said Publishing for my gifted arc in exchange for a honest review.

4.5 stars rounded up. Although I liked TWNGO better, TWHFTL was still very very good. While it is a standalone, and follows a different couple from book 1, I do think you will enjoy this one more if you read book 1 first. And perhaps reread book 1 if it’s been a while. TWHFTL picks up right where book 1 left off, and it took me a minute to really get back into the swing of things at Knockemout. Plus, the main characters in book 2 have a flirtation that starts in book1. And the bad guy is the same in both books.

Once I got fully into this, I was enthralled. This book has Score’s signature sense of humor and shenanigans, and I absolutely love that. Lina was a complete badass as a heroine, and I really loved her. I also loved her friendship with Naomi and Sloane. Their hangouts were some of my favorite parts of this book. This is an open door romance and Score provides us with some excellent steamy scenes. All in all, I really liked this book. And I am sooooooooo excited for the next one, which has to be Lucian and Sloane. The sexual tension between them is thick and their book will be absolute 🔥. I def recommend this one!

Lucy Score's "Things We Hide from the Light" is the second in her Knockemout series. Nash Morgan is the good guy small town sheriff -- or he was until a seemingly routine traffic stop went wrong. Struggling to heal from both his physical and emotional trauma, he meets Lina and forms an immediate connection. Lina is not all she appears to be. I really liked this entry in the series. I don't think it is quite as strong for me as the first but it is still very solid. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series as I have been curious about Lucien and Sloane since book one. The writing has good pacing, and some great scenes. I think the final act isn't quite as driving as it need to be, but anytime spent in Knockemout is time well spent.

The thing that makes Lucy Score novels so compelling, in my opinion, is the robust cast of side characters. This is particularly true in her Knockemout novels--the flushed-out picture of the zany Northern Virginia town anchors the main romance and gives the sense that the main couple is not only suited to one another, but that they are building full lives together, including friends, family, and community. Score's writing is utopic in this regard--though I'm not sure that the side plot of a white cop working to curb anti-Black violence fully landed, in that it adopted a "bad apples" rhetoric as opposed to looking at systemic problems, while clearly being aware that these systemic problems exist.

While I loved Lina, Nash was a bit too hot and cold for my taste. It was still adorable though and I do enjoy Lucy’s writing. But it’s truly Lucian and Sloane’s book that is going to take the cake I think. Can’t wait!!

Lucy Score can do no wrong in my eyes. I loved the return to Knockemout and its lovely, hilarious citizens. This was a good slow burn while also being an instalove? I’ll read whatever Lucy Score puts out.

My thanks to NetGalley for making an eARC of this book available to me.

Pretty enjoyable book, lots of laugh-out-loud moments, and I actually liked the main characters more in this book than in the previous book in the Knockemout series. The plotline was a direct continuation from the earlier book, and all of the supporting characters continued to ... support. The only real problems that I had with the book were 1) the testosterone fueled rage relationship between the two brothers and with their best friend, and 2) the "larger man physically overpowering smaller woman while arguing with her" scenes. If both of those could have been toned down, this could easily have been a 5-star book for me. Now looking forward to the next (hopefully) book in the series.

What a great follow up to the original story! This book is quite long, but I was so excited to hear more from these characters and get back into their world. Highly recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy I got to read.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first. I love the grumpy Morgan brothers, and I was happy that all the crew from the first book were heavily featured in this one.

I thought the last few chapters were a bit corny, and I skimmed those as the crime aspect of the plot didn’t interest me, much like the first book. But I still liked reading about Alina and smash and would still recommend the title to others.

I’m excited for Lucian’s book as I can’t wait to read about him and Sloane.

I am in shock. Lucy Score is talented beyond words. This sequel gave me everything I wanted and things I didn't even know I needed. Loved every second of it and can't wait for everyone else to read.

Horrible fucking time to be low on tissues. Loved this book so much, only slightly less than Things We Never Got Over. So much humor and smart-assery, spice, and family and found family joy. I shall surely die of anticipation waiting for Lucian and Sloane’s story. Huge thank you to NetGalley for an ARC
