Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an eGalley to review!

This was so cute! I loved the rhyming and the art was beautiful and vivid. The illustrations were inclusive not just with the merfolk but the cast of sea creatures too! Because they're called out by name in the stanzas, this would be an excellent way to briefly introduce these animals to children--and the whole book is set up perfectly for a read-aloud/story time. I would definitely recommend this one for the fun alone.

This is a great follow up to Unicorn Day. Mermaid Day would be great for themed storytimes, especially because of the short rhyming sentences and bright pictures. There’s plenty of details on each page for littles to notice with each reading. A great addition to a children’s collection.

I thought this was a super cute book! My 2 year old loves mermaids so it was a hit with her. I also really liked the pictures - how they were bright and captivating and had lots of details for us to search through.

Very cute. Mermaids are such a hit with my young readers and this will be a fun addition to the collection! I loved all the bright colors, but some pages seemed so busy they distracted from the story some. Pair this with How to Catch a Mermaid for mermaid day fun!

The pictures in this book are 10/10 my daughter loves the bright colors and pointing out all of the different animals in this book. The story is so cute and flows so well. We want to go to all the mermaid parties now. Thank you for the ARC Net galley!

I was so thankful to receive a free copy of the book "Mermaid Day" by Diana Murray in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley. I loved her book "Unicorn Day" and frequently use it for my unicorn themed storytime I conduct with the children, both in the library and in our daycare visit program.

The Mermaid queen is having a party and all of the creatures in the sea are invited. They play fun games, and dance and sing, and have so much fun with everything! But wait, who is this to come? a Shark lurking in the corner is also welcome! No matter who is coming by, the mermaid queen welcomes all to join in this fun lyrical children's book by Diane Murray.

"Mermaid Day" is such a fun read for children (and adults like me), I am always a sucker for books that rhyme lyrically throughout the story, which allow for fantastic pausing points, and dramatic expression while reading it to the children. I will be 100% purchasing a copy for myself and requesting our library buy one as well. A fun book for children of all ages, and likely directly to those from the age 3-8 years old.

This book, much like the first, is illustrated with such fun character design that is engaging for children. Each page pops with colour and there are many little illustrations in the pictures for the kids to look at. I see opportunity for many Story time "Eye Spy" games throughout our reading, and look forward to another installment of books in this children series from Diane Murray.

It's Mermaid Day and the mermaids are throwing a party! My girls absolutely loved this one! The illustrations are fun and their favorite part was the shark dancing.

This was a 5 star read for my daughter and I. We loved the cute rhyming words and bright, colorful illustrations. My daughter loves mermaids so this was an easy choice. She laughed out loud at the dancing shark and immediately asked to read it again to her sister! This books comes out July 4, 2023 and definitely recommend it! I will definitely be picking up a hard copy for our house!

I liked the rhyming of the book, but the illustrations were too much for me. They were overwhelming and distracting from the words on the page.

Mermaid Day is by the same author of one of my girl's favorites, Unicorn Day. We love the colorful style of the illustrations and the rhyming prose. It had a great message and kept both my kids attentions during bedtime story time. This will definitely be in our regular rotation.

Thank you to NetGalley, Diana Murray and Sourcebook Kids for this eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Mermaid Day by Diana Murray is a cute book about a mermaid party. Similar to Murray's Unicorn Day and Unicorn Night Sleep Tight books the text is rhyming in format and only a few lines per page. The illustrations are brightly colored and show diversity in characters. Students who enjoy Unicorn Day or any of the books in the How to Catch series will love this book! Definitely will be purchasing it for my library when it comes out!

The way the story was written in rhymes kept and steady exciting rhythm from start to finish. The illustrations were eye catching, bright, and beautiful.

The mermaids in this story are throwing a party and invite all their friends. Towards the mid-end of the book someone unexpected arrives and people scurry until the mermaids include the guest with open arms. I love that this story lays heavily on being inclusive in a subtle way that can be perceived by kids, keeping the book fun, entertaining while still hinting to a valuable life skill.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC.

Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Kids and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title. Mermaid Day is a mermazing story about a mermaid that celebrates Mermaid Day with all of her ocean friends! Everyone worries when the sharks show up, but he's just shy and wants to dance! The story is very inclusive. The illustrations are gorgeous and the text is short enough to keep a toddler entertained and engaging enough to keep an elementary school child mesmerized!

Mermaid Day by Diana Murray is quite an adorable book and the illustrations were so bright and fun! I loved the rhyming sentences and cute story about the Mermaid Party. You will have to read it to find out who unexpectedly shows up! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advanced Reading Copy.

“Mermaid Day” by Diana Murray is such a treat! But also, can we also praise Luke Flowers’s amazing illustrations? The illustrations will draw any young (or old) book enthusiast in and the rhythmic rhyming sentences will captivate any who are lucky enough to indulge in this book. When I was first given the opportunity to download this ARC copy, I was hesitant as the same story lesson unfolds in this book as the previous one which may be a bit repetitive if you are reading “Unicorn Day” and “Mermaid Day” back to back, but given the beautiful illustrations and cute characters (all the fishies and sea creatures!) both books will entertain. Another part I enjoy is how there is a time progression which is great for young readers. The story ends with the characters going to sleep, which makes this book a great bed time story. I read this book with my kindergartener and she gives it two thumbs up!
