Read with a 9 year old.


This was a super cute, fun, colorful book about Mermaid day. Lots of great sea creatures (including a Blobfish!) throughout acting silly. You may also find some special guests from Unicorn Day if you pay attention.
According to the 9 year old, this book was "mer-tastic!" and I absolutely agree.

Very cute and whimsical story. Cute pictures. Author did a great job. Would recommend for any one looking for an easy children’s book.

What an adorable and colorful children's book! It's Mermaid Day and the mer-queen is throwing a party. All kinds of sea creatures come and celebrate. It's rhyming and entertaining with plenty to look at on each page. It would be the perfect addition to a playroom or classroom. My boys and I enjoyed it so much that I'm going to find the author's other book, Unicorn Day for them.

What a fun and colorful rhyming book about mermaids! My 4 year old LOVED this cute bedtime story and has a smile on her face almost the entire time I was reading it.

The artwork is colorful and the pages are FULL of things to look at. The rhyming from page to page flows effortlessly.

The story itself is about an under the sea dance party. After all the fun, singing, friend making and dancing, the mermaid queen says goodbye to everyone and cuddles up with a book and hot cocoa. I thought it was a perfect bedtime story and one we will read more than once.

A delightfully colorful book with a message of merriment that also shows the different ways to enjoy a party.. ,

Will be buying for my daughter. Loved the attention to detail.

From a kid who LOVES anything mermaids: "Best book ever!" Mermaid Day is a cute rhyming type tail (see what I did there?) about what a Mermaid Day would look like under the sea. Complete with plankton cakes, this book and it's amazing illustrations are a great way for young readers to become engaged in books.

My daughter wanted to look at ALL of the photos - even the ones on the dedication page - for a long time, taking in all the details, what each mermaid looked like, hair color, jewelry, outfits, designs on the tails, etc. Even though the story itself isn't long - the book takes a while to get though because of it's beautiful illustrations!

She was confused about sea snails "cleaning" the mer-queen's castle because she feels that snails are always more slimy and messy than clean - but this was the only non believable part for her in the whole book. Which made me laugh because the entire book is a fantasy, but the inner workings of children's minds are fascinating. I would say the author and illustrator nailed it with this one!

I definitely recommend it to any child who loves mermaids!

I just loved this book so I can only imagine the hit it will be in my Media Center. Mermaids are certainly at the height of their popularity now and this will certainly only add to that popularity.
A combination of a birthday party, varied and fun water guests, and a rhyming plot all contribute to the joy of this beautiful book. The illustrations are so colorful and vivid and the element of surprise when a shark enters the celebration make the story even more entertaining. A sure hit!

Five stars are not enough. I loved this book. I loved the cover and every page up to and including the back cover. I would have made my own story up with just the amazing illustrations. The fact that the illustrations came with a story was a gift. I laughed and laughed. Mermaid Day is a party and the illustrations color palate screams amusement park fun.

I was reading, enjoying the story, wanting to flip to the next page, but wanted to checkout the art work. I read the book, flipped the pages backwards seeing all the creatures, then reread from the beginning like an adult.

This is entertainment. The pleasure was mine.

💡Narwhal -- The narwhal, also known as a narwhale, is a medium-sized toothed whale that possesses a large "tusk" from a protruding canine tooth. (I had to look it up.)

Very colorful with fun pictures. Rhyming is great and at times educational. Entertaining. My girls loved it

This book has all of the important elements of a favorite children’s novel. My mermaid and shark loving girls are going to want to read this on repeat!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Mermaids and unicorns are all the rage these days for little girls, and this book will be a favorite among them. Cute story about a fantastic mermaid party.

Mermaid Day was a hit with my daughter, who loves all under the sea adventures! With bold color and fun characters on each and every page she was enthralled with the setting and party theme with her favorite park being the shark dancing! This gorgeous title had plenty of giggles and things to see in each illustration that captivated her attention and made her request this book over and over again. Loved the easy to read rhyming and cute plot line, we loved seeing all the little details that made up this story.

This book is told in rhyming verse about a mer-queen throwing a party!

What a great book for such a wide age range, I read this one to all three of my kids and they all enjoyed it with my youngest being two years old and my oldest being 7.

It is also very gender neutral in interest by adding in the fun sea animal towards the middle of the book. My son became more interested towards that point of the book.

In fantastical sparkly book we are invited to Mermaid Day! Day of music, food, friendship, and more!

In this fun book we meet the Mer-queen who is setting up for a fun day at the palace (and surrounding areas). It is Mermaid DAY!! Yep! The party is here and it is a day full of dancing, music and fun and I was just fully enjoying it even though I couldn't be truly part. I loved seeing the mermaids and the sea creatures have a wonderful day that just seemed to get even more awesome with every hour. One of my favourite animals to keep finding was that eel that had messages on its body!  But I was also delighted with all the mermaids, they all look so fun. 

Oh, and I loved when THAT sea creature popped up, I was a bit worried at first because well it is THAT kind of creature and you never know, but it turned out to be all good and I was just smiling and giggling.

The ending was fun, OK, it was also sad because the party was over, but it was also fun because I loved seeing all the creatures and mermaids go to bed, see them be so knackered because of the amazing day. I do have a question about one of the mermaids, he is sleeping on land? XD

The art was oh so much fun. I love how diverse the mermaids were. Often mermaids are drawn to be bubbly and look pretty much the same. But not in this one! We got punk/goth looking mermaids, we got mermaids with stripes (and jewellery) on their tails, short and long hair in all colours. The rest of the art was just so fun and sparkly, at times I just wanted to step inside the book and party along with everyone. It looks like such a blast! And so many details~

All in all, this is one day you shouldn't miss out on! Get this fun and sparkly book full of happiness and music~
