Move Yourself Happy is a delightful self-help book with many easily adoptable ideas for increasing overall feelings of well-being through movement. There is a bright happiness that comes through the pages. With four pillars, rest, movement, nutrition, and positivity, Diane presents a 21 day guide. This is not a weight loss guide and anyone of any size can do the movements that she outlines. I feel like this book can easily be picked up at any time for an easy boost. The author did a nice job of giving the book an enjoyable positivity and clearly presenting the pillars that are at the route of the guide.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the copy in exchange for an honest reiview.

I honestly got so much knowledge from this beautiful guide for both physical and mental well-being. Dianne Buswell takes you on a 21-Day Journey of dancing and peaceful insight by teaching you the four pillars of health: rest, movement, nutrition, and positivity.

This isn’t a weight loss guide. This guide offers a fun, introduction to yoga, Pilates, and dance such as tap and ballet. It also provides valuable recipes, personal mantras, and even journaling prompts, which were my favorites!

Dianne focuses on happiness. Happiness in your health, heart, and mind. By projecting positivity and nourishing your mind and body, in 21 days Dianne will have you glowing from the inside out!

Thanks to Netgalley and Watkins Publishing for the arc. My review is my own.

So much more than I expected
5 Stars

I have always liked Dianne on Strictly Come Dancing and I was keen to read this book on how to make movement part of your lifestyle and as a result, improve your mind and outlook.

The first thing I noticed is that the friendly, positive way that Dianne comes across on Strictly definitely translates into her writing style. It’s very readable and she comes across as both likeable and encouraging. I can’t say that I thought I would have much in common with a professional champion dancer but I still found Dianne relatable and knowledgable about her subject. She’s obviously also very passionate about the topic of movement, joy and mental health and that also comes across in the text.

The other thing I immediately noticed is that this book isn’t full of a lot of fluff. Many books written by celebrities or personalities spend the first chapter telling their life stories and make the book mostly about them and their lives rather than the subject matter. While there were personal snippets, and we learn more about Dianne by the end of the book, every story she tells is connected to the point of the book - joyful movement.

But having said that, this book is actually about so much more. Dianne explains her four pillars of health: rest, movement, nutrition and positivity. And she explains how she goes about prioritising her pillars with practical and useful tips. I hate it when you read ‘tips’ like ‘think positively’ or ‘get better sleep’ without any indication on how to do these things so kudos to Dianne for showing the difficulties and solutions to those and many more.

We also get a few recipes - useful things like granola, yoghurt, dressings - inspiring weekly mantras and journaling prompts, fun daily movement routines and mood-boosting lifestyle hacks. All interspersed into the text.

And so to the movements. These are broken up into the three areas of yoga, pilates and dance. None are overly taxing and helpfully explained with text and pictures of Dianne doing the moves. The three categories of movement means that there’s a great mix of the energetic moves and not so energetic moves. The 21 day plan then mixes around the moves so that you can incorporate them into your lifestyle in order to make them a habit. And while I enjoyed the 21 day plan - even more so because it has lots of fun suggestions for you to try on different days - there’s no reason that you can’t pick and choose the exercises you do and when you do them. But since you’ve got the book, you probably should start by following her plan!

Alongside the pictures of Dianne doing the exercises, there are also various pictures throughout the book. Lots of Dianne, understandably, and pictures of flowers, fields, cups of tea. It all gives a lovely vibe of nature and self-care but without being too earth-mothery that it will put folk off!

I was very impressed with this book as a whole. It was actually so much more than I expected it to be. It’s certainly not just a fluff piece with a celebrity name attached but rather an enjoyable, useful and aspirational book from someone knowledgable and expert in her field. A very worthy 5 stars.

Such a fun and uplifting book rooted in the power of movement to improve mental and physical health. Dianne is a real force for good, as an amazing pro dancer on Strictly Come Dancing she shares her insights into the joy of movement (not just dance), good health and eating habits to improve lives. This is a fresh take on self improvement and will come in useful year round but mainly in winter when lack of sunshine may lead one to feeling blue. Well done and thanks very much, Dianne. This is inspiring stuff!

A feel good factor for getting moving

I enjoyed Diane’s book. It gave me lots of ideas for getting more out of my life, getting healthier and enjoying getting moving rather than beating myself up over not getting enough exercise.

Her honesty about the things she finds hard and adjusting exercises so they work was very refreshing. Diane’s approach makes sense and covers getting moving more, of course, but also other aspects of being happier. From the importance of eating well, getting enough sleep and rest to finding more peace through nature, meditation and journalling. The book also includes details of Spotify music selections to use for the routines.

I felt it was a very holistic and useful book and will be trying out many of her ideas and exercise flows. I really hope she produces a DVD of the routines to show how to do the exercises properly and for us to follow.

I was given this book from the author via netgalley only for the pleasure of reading and leaving an honest review should I choose to.

Great book, easy to read and love the fact it has so much health and fitness stuff in it – not just about her dancing!

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I am a big fan of the authors, and this is a book full of useful information that gives a fascinating look into her way of life and something everyone can take from it. I really enjoyed this book!

I was drawn to this book because I’ve also been doing bodygroove which has the same mantra as this book sounded like, it’s an interesting way of getting people like myself who hate most sports but want to be healthy still to exercise more, if you can make something fun it’s not an effort as much. I think this will be helpful to people who are looking like me for something they can stick to and enjoy

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
I know a little bit about the author. I was drawn to it due to I was a professional dancer also and so I was very excited that I had as approved for the ebook. The photos are really beautiful throughout the book.
The recipes that are shared are easy and I am wanting to try a few of them (even though I am no longer a vegetarian).
I think she gives really good basic tips on how to just move your body to become more confident in yourself. To me it is extremely important to be in shape and to move wither it is light yin yoga or just getting up and walking for 15/20 mins. As an x professional dancer we are so use to moving our body 6-7 days a week so going from that to sitting behind a desk for work is really hard.
I highly recommend this novel, it is beautifully written and very helpful.

I must say I was drawn to this book y its title buy found it lacking a bit for me. Most of the information I have read before, The photos didn't add anything to the book but it is a book that can be helpful to people who are looking to try something new for themselves.

I didn't know of the author before reading this book and probably wouldn't have picked it knowing she is a celebrity as I don't follow celebrities much.

Overall a good book and I think many people will enjoy it.

This is a fabulous book by one of my favourite Strictly pro-dancers. Fans of the BBC show will really enjoy this take on physical movement to support good mental health and self-care. A lovely gift idea!

This book is just OK.
The photography is very nice, very colourful, high contrast images but the substance in the book is nothing original.
A lot of it is common sense and very wishy washy.
I don't see how Diane has written something personalised. Other than the self indulgent photos of Diane on every other page - what makes this special to her? I just cant see it - I have no idea why she has written/put her name to something like this.

Three weeks isn't long but those 21 days could set in place a healthy living regime which, if followed correctly, should help both mental and physical wellbeing. This is the concept discussed by popular Strictly professional dancer, Dianne Buswell in an open and pleasant way.

The recipes are appealing and the exercises accompanied by photos which give a good basis for both beginners (me!) and those with some experience of Pilates, yoga, and dance. The memories Dianne includes give an insight into what made her the personable and successful young woman we see regularly on our televisions and the lack of faddy foods or diets is refreshing to say the least.

I enjoyed reading this book and can see ways in could be integrated into my life without too much difficulty or expense. If you are looking to make a positive change to your everyday exercise and diet this would be a very good place to start. Recommended.

Dianne Buswell seems a kind, honest and genuinely nice person and it was quite restorative to read her book. Although much of the advice will seem familiar to those interested in wellbeing, it is a helpful reminder and is communicated with her own personal slant.

I read an electronic copy of the book but think it would work much better as a physical book so that you can flick backwards and forwards. I also found the exercises a bit laborious to read through and work out when we are so used to accessing online content these days. Maybe Dianne could supplement the book with some YouTube videos?

A sweet book that will leave you feeling a bit more positive and inspired to get moving.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dianne Buswell always comes across as so happy and positive on Strictly Come Dancing and this book is a wonderful extension of that positivity. In 'Move Yourself Happy', Dianne describes her Four Pillars in her approach to wellbeing. 1 is movement, 2 is nutrition, 3 is rest and 4 is positivity. The book looks at these four pillars in more detail with advice on wellbeing and positivity. There's also yoga, pilates and dance moves to incorporate into your daily life as well as nutritional advice and recipes. The last part of the book is '21 Days to a Stronger, Happier You' which includes exercise routines designed to get your body moving more. What I like about this is the fact that none of these routines are long and all can be done at home with just an exercise mat. I think this 21 day programme will be easier to follow with a physical book as it does involve going back to earlier images to remind yourself of the poses/moves. Throughout this book Dianne is very honest about her own wellbeing, admitting to getting anxious sometimes and the things she does to help this. I really admire this honesty throughout the book. Overall, this is a really uplifting, easy to follow book, with great images and some positive ideas to try. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
