I’m so excited to share this graphic novel adaptation with my students! At times the narrative and cast of characters were confusing, but overall it takes the remarkable and tragic story of the creation of atomic bomb and makes it more accessible to more audiences.

I thought Bomb as a full book was probably one of the best MG/YA nonfiction books around, and I'm not convinced that this format works super well? But still, I thought the art was very powerful and it gets across the story and a message..

Bomb is the graphic novel adaptation of Steve Sheinkin's book. This is the story of the creation of the atomic bomb. It gives an inside look into how the bomb was created and who was involved. I felt like the graphic novel was able to divide up the heavy factual information with appealing visuals to reach readers. I feel like this book will appeal to middle school readers and above.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

The story of the atomic bomb is both fascinating and heartbreaking. The inside look into how it was built, who was involved, and the impact it had on everyone was interesting to learn. The art work added to the story and was easy to follow as well.

Nick Bertozzi and Steve Sheinkin's "Bomb" may be marketed as a young adult or children's graphic novel detailing the Manhattan Project, but it feels much more adult than the publishers let on. It focuses primarily on the espionage that plagued Los Alamos from its inception and got the USSR the atomic bomb 4 years ahead of where US Intelligence anticipated. This narrative is joined with the production of the bomb and the Norwegian efforts to (successfully) sabotage Nazi heavy water plans.
