The Block Party is the book that will make you feel that your own street is utopia. The scandal, the mess, the deception…Alton Road is the cul-de-sac to avoid. But, it made for a really fun, engaging summer suspense read!
This compulsively readable tale addressed bullying, infidelity, addiction, grief, and marital strife, with a cast of morally grey characters. Teenaged Lettie was my favorite of the bunch, with her big heart behind a gruff exterior.
As I toted this around from porch reading, to water park, to pool, I became more invested in untangling the lies and loved how it all came together in a scorching conclusion!

There's a murder in the neighborhood of a summer block party, but who has been killed---and more importantly, perhaps, who did it? It seems that no one has a perfect life in these beautiful houses on the cul-de-sac, but are worth killing over? Another great read---fast-paced and complex characters.

I love me a good neighborhood drama and this one did not disappoint
To me the characters were almost caricatures of themselves as each one had a different view on what had happened. So yes, you get a lot of different POVs as to what actually happened at the block party. All you really know is that someone died...but not sure who That reminded me a little of Big Little Lies.
All in all this was a quick, fun and perfect beach read.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the arc .

This book would make a great tv series. This is good book and so addictive! This is scandalous! Grab your popcorns and chill your favorite wine! It is a mix of Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies and so entertaining.
Block Party is smart and well crafted mystery with bunch of amazing characters. The main story told by two POVs: Alex; fixer, mediator, heavy wine drinker, the good and responsible neighbor, open minded mother and Lettie; Alex’s rebellious, environmentalist, intelligent, observant, misfit daughter!
this book made me energized and I couldn't put it down. ! I was so intrigued! It felt like binge watching ten episodes of murder mystery series! The characters are exceptional! The secrets, twists were well crafted. I didn’t want it to end! I had so much fun!
The conclusion was heart pounding and well wrapped up! Great book for a book club.

This felt a little less thriller and a lot more reality show. Loved how it wrapped up in the end but it was hard to get through. LOVE the book cover!

This is a neighborhood drama that reminds me of a Desperate Housewives vibe. When a murder happens at a neighborhood block party, all the residents of Alton Road are suspect. Told in multiple and alternating timelines, we hear the backstory and all the secrets the residents of the street are keeping. One of the elements I enjoyed were the "Facebook" watch page comments because those are all too real. I would definitely read more from this author.

This thriller was exactly what I expected in the sense that I was intrigued from page one and could not put it down!
Great book characters were intriguing ! Highly recommend

This. Book. Is. Fire!!! 🔥
I knew there was murder but didn’t know until the end who the victim(s) and killer(s) were!
I had so many suspicions about the lives of these complicated neighbors. Golly, though, some of them I didn’t see coming.
Jamie Day had me electrified with her writing, the plot, the action, the characters….
I couldn’t stop until I got to the end. It was absolutely electrifying!
This is a tv series waiting to happen!!! It has to!!!
Thank you, Jamie Day, Macmillan Audio, St Martins Press & netgalley for my copy & audiobook! All opinions are my own.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!

Neighborhood drama galore! Told in both past and present, from two POVs, Alex and her daughter Lettie. Lettie's portion of the book has a YA feel to it. There is a whole cast of characters, or shall I say an entire cul-de-sac of families to keep straight. Jamie does a good job telling their stories and weaving the histories together. The killer and just who is murdered could be anyone, and my guesses on this changed many times throughout the book as the surprises were revealed. Overall this is a fast, entertaining read.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the eARC of The Block Party! All opinions in this review are my own.
I loved the set up of this thriller! From the start of the book, you know that something has happened, but you are not quite sure what. The Block Party takes you back through the year leading up to the Memorial Day party. I liked that not only were you trying to figure out who the suspect was, but also who the victim was! After each section there were also posts from the community speculating on what had happened which were really funny to read. I can't wait to read more from this author!

A thriller I couldn't keep my hands off of the moment I started reading. Murder at the block party? Sign me up! It gave secrets, lies, and betrayal (aka all the drama I could ask for).

It’s the summer and the cul-de-sac is throwing their annual Block Party. Over the years it has been a fun event, where all the neighbors get involved. Adults and kids alike partake in all the activities. This year though, things are different. The night of the party, there is a murder and all of the neighborhood secrets unravel. The lies and secrets that have been held tight, this past year seep out. Everyone is a suspect and everyone is involved. This is my type of Thriller. Multiple suspects, a twisty plot and a surprise ending. The Block Party by Jamie Day is a good read. The drama alone had me hooked. What could be better than adults acting at their worst and pointing fingers at each other? I want to thank Netgalley and the author for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book. If you like a good thriller, this book is for you.

annual nieghorhood block party! be there are be square. a mom looses her cool, we all do it from time to time right? well the problem is, the whole block is there to witness it. then the next day her son is dead. naturally everyone believe she had something to do with it? how can she clear her name when so many witnessed her lashing out?

What a hard to put down debut!! The annual cul-de-sac party is THE party of the year, and also happens to be where all of the secrets and misdeeds come to light in Alex's small community. Drinking, debauchery, and even murder?? Definitely vibes of Desperate Housewives, and I'm not mad about it!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my review copy. Definitely recommend!

Block Party is twisty, well-crafted mystery with unique characters dancing around each other. The main story is rendered through two POVs: Alex; fixer, mediator, drinker, responsible neighbor, and Lettie; Alex’s environmentalist, intelligent, observant, misfit daughter. Jamie Day explores themes of alcoholism, revenge, infidelity, suicide, drug abuse, and depression in this novel via fully developed, intriguing characters. The story unfolds through dual timelines and dual points of view which may be a little confusing for some readers. The pacing begins a little slow, but later picks up with all the drama and murder and who done it. Readers of domestic thrillers will enjoy this one.

A summer drama. Murder at the annual Memorial Day block party. There were a lot of characters in this book and it was hard to keep track of.

Loved this! I love a good neighbourhood mystery murder and I read this in one sitting. Thanks so much to the publisher and net gallery for this ARC. Will definitely be looking out for other books by this author.

I loved The Block Party! This was such a great scandal told in multiple POVs. What happened at the Memorial Day Block Party? Buckle up and find out! So much scandal and drama, it felt like a housewives episode!

3.5 stars
I've had the NetGalley ebook on my TBR for a very long time, too long. And then I was able to get the audiobook from Hoopla, and am very glad I did.
This book has me enthralled from the beginning. Even though there were at least 5 households and sundry children to keep track of, and changing timelines and two viewpoints, my feeble brain never once stopped to question, wait now, who's that? The skillful writing kept me in the story and eager to know who would be our murderer and murderee. I think I made up that word as spell check put a wavy red line under it. Well, it should be a word!
Out of all the interesting, complex, flawed characters, I especially liked the main characters, Lettie and her mom Alex. Such wisdom imparted from them both. Alex's husband is pretty special too, especially compared to the other men in the neighborhood!
