Breaking All The Rules by Amy Andrews is a witty, captivating, and compelling story that follows the journey of Beatrice Archer as she redefines her life by leaving her everyday, overworked existence in favor of life in Nowhere, Colorado. Along the way, Bea faces many of life’s realities, particularly that of a charming and much younger police officer who helps her navigate her newfound freedom with wit, humor, and charm. Amy Andrews does an excellent job in conveying the ups and downs of learning how to break all the rules, showing the power and strength in the courage of the main character. The storyline was enjoyable and moved quickly. Highly recommended for readers who are looking for a light-hearted, charming romance with a sprinkle of adventure.

After being overlooked one too many times for a job she deserved in the corporate world, Bea Archer, decides to leave the rat race that is LA. She finds herself in a small town in Colorado and vows to stop worrying about what others think. From now on she is going to say, do, and eat whatever she wants. Will Bea be able to stick to her rule breaking new life, or will she fall back on old habits?

Overall, I liked this story. I was game for a book that focused on the female protagonist leaving all societal norms behind and finding out what makes her happy. After all, if I am being honest I have wondered what it would be like to eat pie for breakfast, never get out of my sweats, and cross off everything on my bucket list. Sadly, it stopped there for me.

*My issues with the book are solely my own and contain spoilers. If you think this book is a perfect match for you, please skip the rest of my review.

My biggest issue is how explicit this book is. I felt that it was way too spicy for my liking. There are a ton of open door scenes and they tend to go on and on.

My second issue is how the author glosses over Bea’s mother’s mental health and death. These are such important topics and deserved to be explored more in depth. I was sad to see them hinted at the entire book, but not talked about until the final two chapters.

My last issue is how the book ends. I was so happy when Austin showed up in LA proclaiming his love for Bea and vowing to make the major move so they could be together. Almost every love story I have read ends with the woman giving up her life or dream for a man. It would have been refreshing to see it reversed!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Entangled (Amara) for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥

You know you're in for a ride when a book makes you laugh out loud unexpectedly.

Beatrice Archer is tired of following the rules. After all, what has it done for her? She is miserable, works 24/7, is always hungry, and keeps getting passed over for a promotion.

When her last attempt at getting that corner office ends up going to someone far less qualified, she rage-quits and runs off to Credence, Colorado A.K.A. far, far away from L.A. as possible. There, she tries to break every rule she or others have imposed on her for years: she does what she wants, she dresses how she wants, and she eats what she wants.

When a run to refill her sugar supply has her crossing paths with Credence police officer Austin Cooper, she finds an ally who is willing to help her through the bucket list of rules to break. What she didn't expect is for the younger hottie to exchange banter that border on flirty and seductive with her.

This was a fun, fun ride. I love the instant chemistry between Bea and Austin. It is the kind that makes you bite your lip from grinning so much. It does not help that Austin feeds the flame with his charisma and flirtations. I stan a confident man who knows what he wants and who can bid his time to get it, and Austin just oozes that easy self-assurance. I also love that he respects Bea and is willing to wait until she is ready.

There is a slight slow burn to their story, but the wait for those spicy moments is so worth it.

I love the main characters, and the book is only made better by the adorable supporting cast. The Credence townspeople each have their own endearing quirks that add so much life and relatability to the story.

This is a standalone read, but I certainly will welcome more about some of the side characters in this book.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Amy Andrews, Entangled Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an ARC. **

Breaking All the Rules was delicious and fun and will definitely absorb your attention from the beginning through the end.

I had a love/hate relationship with Beatrice or as she preferred “Bea” in the book. When we are introduced to her in the book, from the gate, I was like, my new bestie. In her new chapter of life, starting over, she gives no crap about anything and the ride was pure fun. Her personality and the things that she says will have you laughing out loud and when she meets Austin, you’ll not want to put the book down. Their chemistry is so magnetic and the banter between them makes the book so much so much sweeter.

Here’s a little backstory. Bea is 35, the reason it matters in context is because when she comes to this small town, her path crosses with the young, handsome officer Austin, who is 25. He has piqued her interest and they can't get enough of each other. As they spend more time together and even though it wasn’t defined, there is an undefined label that seems obvious to everyone except Bea. I loved them together. Due to a situation from her past, getting involved with someone younger was a no no. That is one rule she was determined not to break. Even though it seems so wrong, you can’t help what feels so right.

Now, I was feeling Bea all the way until the consequences as she felt breaking the rules was getting in the way of her feelings. I really haven’t read age/gap romances but loved how these two characters were perfect for each other. Yes, there was a 10 year age difference but it wasn’t an issue until it became one. She knew what she was getting into but Austin isn’t your typical twenty five year old. He’s mature and definitely knows what he wants and has a plan for his future. Those qualities alone I thought would override her fear but she let it block what was right in front of her. This is the point in the book where I was hating her for a little but redemption came with an awesome hea that made me like her again.

Overall, this book was amazing. It was a light, fun story that you can jump into and feel good. As I sing their praises, the supporting characters brought their own fun to the book that are worth mentioning. You will go on a roller coaster with them but it’s worth it. If you haven’t read yet, add this one to the list because you will not want to miss out on all the fun.

Oh my gosh I loved Bea and was soo jealous of give no forks attitude when she up and moves to Credence, the fact that the small town have made up all these different stories about who she is and why she is there had me cracking up along with how Bea first meets Officer Austin which still cracks me up now thinking about it.
You get characters you love as well as see how it's never too late to find the real you and embrace a little crazy along the way and should love come along maybe don't fight it so much when your brain says no but your heart says what's a little age gap!

A small town, age gap romance, Breaking All the Rules was an engaging, lovable read. Bea and Austin are great characters, and the story is well written and delivered. I look forward to reading more by this author and recommend you do too.

"I'm jaywalking. Arrest me."
"Ma'am."
She held out her hands again. "Take me to the pokey."
Austin couldn't help himself - he threw back his head and laughed. The pokey??

Beatrice Archer felt the need to antagonize Officer Austin Cooper. She wasn't quite getting the response she wanted. She wanted to break the rules, go to jail, be in trouble. Instead, Officer Cooper found her entertaining. That wasn't her intention.

Austin is definitely fascinated with Beatrice. She left the city and a big job - now living in this little town - but she never leaves her apartment. Until one afternoon, when she does, she wants him to put her in jail. He has to admit, he finds her pretty fascinating.

Beatrice doesn't plan on getting involved in the town or making friends. But that's exactly what begins to happen. Of course, the city and another job starts calling her - so she has some big decisions to make. She had no idea just how difficult those decisions would be.

After playing along with all the rules to make it in the LA advertising world, Beatrice doesn’t get the promotion she was expecting. So she quits her agency and heads to a small town in Colorado called Credence where she is determined to bust out her rebellious nature and embrace her artistic side again.
This leads to a run-in with one of the local cops, Austin. He is ten years younger than her but boy, do sparks fly.
This was a fun read with plenty of sizzle and banter - and some life lessons for the main characters. Credence features in a number of Amy Andrews’ other titles in case you are left wanting even more romance and ranch life.

I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.

[short description] Beatrice moves to small town Credence after abruptly leaving her office job in LA. She’s decided to turn over a new leaf and ✨live life✨ Beer for breakfast, messy apartment, sweats and t shirts for days; she’s definitely living it up now LOL. She meets officer Cooper, who helps show her around town and they gradually spend more and more time together. Later, she gets a job offer she’s been dreaming about and must decide between small town life or LA…

I really liked the beginning of the story and the setting! The small town, friendly vibes is just really comforting. The growth of Bea’s character was nice. I wasn’t really into her relationship with Cooper though. The scenes were kinda cringe and honestly in my opinion, he deserved better!

Thank you @netgalley and @entangledpublishing for this advanced copy for an honest review (although I know it’s very late)

Like many books in the romance genre, this was a bit cheesy. But I feel like sometimes they have to be to make sense. The dialogue was a bit unrealistic at times and I didn’t fall in love with the story. But- this was really funny. I love the author’s sense of humor!

I can’t get over the way Bea and Austin met. It was laugh out loud funny and I loved how Bea kept up her I don’t give a sh*t rule breaker attitude even though she was a nervous wreck on the inside. I loved their banter and how they got to know one another. I don’t read many age gaps but I feel like the author did a good job portraying the thoughts of an age relationship. While I don’t really like the way Bea handled a certain part of the relationship I was happy with how it ended.

This Story grabbed me right from the beginning, you could tell there was going to be some quirky, fun antics right off the bat.
Then it felt a bit too longwinded because it was clear that the trope of age difference, was the focus, you knew where the characters were headed, but the characters banter and flirting felt like it went on too long before getting to some spice.
But wow! can this author, Amy Andrews, write spice! 🔥
Open door, enticing,, excellent descriptive words and heat throughout the passionate moments.
Loved it!
Author, Amy Andrews is a superb writer and because of that I would say that although this book was a little too long for the type of storyline, I loved everything else about it!
Well done!
Feel good, relatable romance, with spice, perfect combination!

Thankyou to author Amy Andrews, Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I loved being back in Credence, Colorado! Beatrice and Austin were fun and a great addition to Credence.

Beatrice Archer is the newest addition to Credence. She was in need of a considerable change and this town fit the bill. She's always done the right thing, and worked hard, even forgoing a personal life. So now she's living in sweats binge watching Supernatural and eating whatever she wants whenever she wants.

Officer Austin Cooper loves his job but he's willing to help Beatrice with her list of rules she'd like to break. He's charming and easy on the eyes but he's younger than Beatrice. Yet they take their friendship to another level and enjoy every minute of it, never really defining what they are.

A creative opportunity lands in her lap and at first, she dismisses it. But when she offers something more in line with how she's feeling they love it and make her an offer to create more.
Austin supports this but when it begins to pull her away from the routine they created he feels things coming to an end.

Thank you so much to the author, Entangled and NetGalley for this ARC to review.

I really enjoyed The Trouble with Christmas and Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews previously, so I was excited to read Breaking All The Rules. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this one nearly as much as the other two. Apparently this cop finds not showering, stinking of beer, and filthy pajamas attractive... I'm just not sure how. The super lusty descriptions were too much and didn't set well with me. Overall it wasn't that bad, it just never really vibed with me.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the first Credence book I have read although it looks like it’s the third in the series. I will have to go back and read the others because I really enjoyed this one. I’m not usually into age gap romance but it was well done in this romance between Austin and Bea.

The chemistry between the two is palpable and the romantic tension and build up between the two is great.

The obstacles that they both face to be with each other, especially Bea, are believable and heart wrenching.

Well written and a quick read too.

Bea Archer is fed up! She’s been passed up for promotions, working long hours, wearing shoes that hurt and eating nothing but lettuce leaves. Literally throwing a dart at a map, she heads out of L.A. to a small town in Colorado to start fresh.

Bea is set on breaking all the rules, living free from all the years of being constrained by the corporate world. So she now wearing sweats, no bra, and eating the world’s best pie at her new favorite diner.

But it’s a young local law officer who has Bea’s head spinning. The thing is, Bea came to nowheresville, Colorado with a bad taste in her mouth for men, and now Officer Austin Cooper is serving her pie off his ripped abs! But he’s young, and Bea still needs to decide about her future, so falling in love is against the rules. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴?

Holy handcuffs y’all, this was a fun one! I loved Bea’s attitude and her confidence. Although this is an age-gap romance- only about ten years, I think, I liked that Austin was mature enough to handle Bea and her crises.
Super Sexy, flirty and great characters - I closed the book craving… pie. 😉

Whereas the last was a difficult match, this one was a MATCH ON FIRE! Okay, so I enjoyed the story, from Bea's middle-age meltdown caused partially by a backwards company that couldn't see what they had in front of them before it all came tumbling down to her new found discovery of designer day-of-the-week panties, and truly being herself. The thing is, she didn't even know herself and was letting others dictate that for her, so this time of self discovery, as crazy, wild, and over the top (or topless....WARNING: SMEXY TIMES aplenty!) as it gets, was so worth it! She learns that she doesn't have to have it all together all the time, wearing sweats and no bra can be a freeing experience, binge watching Supernatural is a VERY good reason to cancel plans, a good slice of pie or ice cream is not the end of her outer beauty, and love can come at pretty much any age, when given the chance.

Honestly, I think you'll really like her, and Austin, well, what's not to like?! Oh, let's not forget Princess because she is a BOSS. You'll see what I mean when you read it. It's out this coming Tuesday, so make your list of rule breaking activities you've ALWAYS wanted to do, and be prepared to compare notes! Just know that dibs have already been called on Austin, okay? 😉
