The photos for this book were beautiful, the flowers and cocktails were well displayed. Some drinks in there I will enjoy. I will recommend this to my customers. I also appreciated that a mocktail section was included.

This book is worth it just for how beautiful the photography is, it makes everything look delicious. I'm a plant person with the pleasure of growing my own herbs and having a greenhouse, I love learning about practical uses for flowers. I can't wait until some of my new seeds start producing so I can try some of the recipes. I enjoyed the sections on traditional uses for the flowers. I think it's a shame that more people don't use plants for their health benefits. I don't deny medicine, but nature is there to nurture! (Within considerate reason)

This is a stunningly beautiful book that will make you want to grow flowers just to make cocktails. The author includes background on the traditional uses for the flowers, followed by recipes for making cocktails from the flower, and in most cases, absolutely gorgeous photographs of the results. Seriously, it makes you think that you should drink more cocktails to improve your health (as the medicinal value of plants is undeniable). Even if you don't drink and don't garden, do yourself a favor and "read" this book to look at the pictures. Off to buy some seeds and make sure my soil is organic... #TheFlowerInfusedCocktail #NetGalley

Having lived off and on in Asia, I am accustomed to the beauty of flowers accompanying a meal, even if it is just for decoration and not to actual imbibe. So I was very interested to read an advance copy of The Flower Infused Coctail by Alyson Brown.

This is a gorgeous book full of photos of drinks you would love to serve to guests, or just have as a treat for yourself. The book gives an explanation of the steps that go into creating these drinks, and where you can source some of the ingredients. And as mentioned, the photos of the cocktails are inspiring!

In the spring and summer I have a small collection of flowers in my garden, such as roses, Camomile, and honeysuckle, which I make sure are never sprayed with any chemicals and I use these in cooking experiments. How I will probably use this book most is to focus on a few recipes which I can easily source the ingredients to and master.

This is a beautiful book, and if you are someone who is enjoying the renaissance in high end fancy cocktails we are seeing in lounges and bars, or who just loves to use flowers and herbs as natural ingredients in your cooking, you will find much to love here.

This book was beautifully done with whimsical photography and such interesting recipes! I’m eager to try more of them out! I appreciated the information on each edible flower and the recipe or recipes that went with them. These drinks would be perfect for a summer or spring dinner party or cocktail party in the orchard! I can’t wait to share them with friends.

The Flower-Infused Cocktail is a bar book with recipes by Alyson Brown. Due out 1st Feb 2023 from Rowman & Littlefield on their Globe Pequot imprint, it's 188 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This is a beautifully illustrated and aesthetically appealing book of cocktail recipes all featuring edible flowers. The author is an experienced and knowledgeable herbalist and it's clear from her writing that she's genuinely enthusiastic about helping readers enjoy a "flower infused life".

The book is arranged logically and proceeds from basic info (necessary equipment and glassware), base infusions to build drinks around (including some adventurous choices such as artichoke and pineapple weed), bitters & tinctures, salt & sugar, cordials liqueurs shrubs & syrups, floral water & tea, garnishes, and mocktails (alcohol free).

Recipes are given with recipe ingredients in a bullet list, followed by step by step mixing instructions. Recipe ingredients are listed with imperial (American) measurements only. The book is beautifully illustrated with vibrant color photos and finished drinks which are well styled and appealing.

Five stars. Cocktails and special party drinks can be refined and so appealing. Adding flowers is an intriguing and appealing twist on traditional cocktails. This would be a good choice for public library acquisition and home use.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Alyson Brown has written a well-researched and beautiful book. The photographs are stunning, and Brown certainly provides an in-depth knowledge of flowers as well as crafting the perfect cocktail.

While I certainly would love to be served any one of the cocktails mentioned in the book, I'm not sure that I would be likely to actually make them -- I would leave that to someone else. If you're someone who wants to take cocktail making to more creative heights, then this is definitely the book for you.

A lovely read. Thank you to #NetGalley and Rowan and Litte Field for this electronic ARC of #TheFlowerInfusedCocktail.

This is a beautiful book with the pictures of cocktails. The ideas within are interesting and exotic. It certainly was inspiring and made me want to have a party to try some of them out. If someone is into creating that special cocktail for a particular party this would be a great reference. some of the ingredients will be difficult to find which can be a setback. having alternatives might help.

This book is so beautiful! From the wonderful writing to the warm and welcoming photos throughout. I loved the aesthetics of this book.
This book begins with a welcome letter followed by the basics about glassware, home bar tools, and edible flower safety. This book is extremely beginner friendly, with photos indicating which glass should be used to have the best experience with each drink and just enough information on the flowers being used to get the reader familiar.
Every drink presented in this book is beautiful and covers various tastes and desires.

🍸🌺BOOK REVIEW🌺🍸

The Flower-Infused Cocktail by Alyson Brown
⭐️I don’t like rating cookbooks and cocktail recipe books but this is an exceptional, stunning book!

This is not only filled with delicious recipes but also beautiful photography!

The book begins with a how to get started guide, which I appreciated! It is divided by flower/ingredient: first explaining the flower in detail then providing an easy to follow recipe.

There’s also a whole section on bitters and tinctures - I haven’t been able to make one yet but am very excited to try! They include the recipe for the bitter/tincture then also include a drink recipe to use it.

This is a must-have book for anyone who loves making cocktails at home.

I collect cocktail books and make a lot of fancy drinks at home. This book offered new, fresh, beautiful recipes.

Thanks to @netgalley, @rowmanandlittlefield and the author for this ARC.

Publish date: February 1, 2023 (✨perfect as a Valentine’s Day gift!)

*This book was received as an Advanced Reviewer's Copy from NetGalley.

I typically don't like to review cookbooks until I've had a chance to make a handful of the recipes. In this case though, we're in the middle of winter, and while I could special order some of the ingredients (via the handy resources section at the end of the book) I have a very full garden that I just have to wait for a few more months until more of this is attainable.

And that's because this is a floral spectacle of a book. I love floral-infused things in general (I make my own syrups at home mainly with them) and am always looking to try new flavors. This book described so many edible flowers I didn't know about, and also some very delicious sounding recipes to try.

What's great is, that aside from the attainability of some of these ingredients, the recipes themselves are not difficult. There are infusions, a few items for garnishes, and biggest of all the syrups that are inclusive of these floral elements. Accompanying these recipes are very high quality, gorgeously colorful pictures. Separated into a few different sections, the book, as stated before really focuses on infusions and syrups, but also has sections for flavored salts/sugars, bitters and tinctures, and even some mocktails. There's also a bunch of additional recipes included at the back, that I think are probably back there because of lack of pictures, but I do wish had been included in relevant sections in the body of the book (they are referenced in some of the main recipes).

And now, I know I said I didn't get to try many of the things from this book, but I did get to try some. My favorite go-to drink is one I make loosely based on the Aviation cocktail. To my delight, her recipe for her Aviator Glasses, is a very similar variation, made with tequila instead of gin. It was delicious.

I can't wait for spring and summer to bring me all sorts of delights from the garden so I can continue to utilize this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a beautiful cocktail book! The photographs are gorgeous and the recipes are delicious. I love how the book is organized and has recommendations to building your bar from glassware and tools to sourcing edible flowers. It also has some great non-alcoholic options as well. This is such a well done book and I will definitely be getting it for myself as well as gifting.

Thanks to NetGalley, Rowman + Littlefield, and Alyson Brown for an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts in this review are my own.

This is a fun and beautiful book, brimming with flower based cocktail recipes and photos. There’s a huge variety of flowers covered here and it tells you folklore about them, taste and more.

Typical to cocktail recipes, they tend to call for a lot of ingredients and to be rather fiddly, which is not really my thing. I’m very simple with my flower cocktails (Example — elderberry hard lemonade is one I created for my elderberry book and it’s just a shot of homemade elderberry schnapps and lemonade. It tastes crazy good and also magically turns hot pink when the purple schnapps hits the acid in the lemon because of a pH reaction.) These cocktails definitely sound delicious though and the photos are marvelous. I definitely wouldn’t turn one down! Highly recommended for readers who love entertaining, gardening and/or cocktails.

I read a temporary digital arc of this book for review.

The Flower-Infused Cocktail was the type of book I’ve always dreamed about having! If you have not had flower-based cocktails (or coffees, for that matter) you are absolutely missing out! The book began, as most drink recipe books do, with descriptions of the different types of glassware, bar tools and techniques, with the added addition of descriptions of the different aspects involved when cooking with edible flowers. I was wicked surprised by some of the options for edible flowers that were included in the book! Each flower was accompanied by a cocktail that gave the book a great sense of variety. I’ve never wanted to try every recipe in a cookbook that I’ve read, until The Flower-Infused Cocktail.

I truly loved this book! I have read a lot of cocktails and tried out so many recipes but none compare to the recipes in this book! The directions were easy to follow and the photos were beautiful. My family enjoyed the drinks I made on thanksgiving thanks to this amazing book. I would 100% recommend to keep a copy of this book on your bar cart!

Defiantly recommend if you are looking to get into some fancy drinks.

What a beautiful book to enjoy during the wintry months! The author, Alyson Brown, is the founder of the Wild Folk Flower Apothecary and is eager to share her enthusiasm for a flower-infused lifestyle. As she notes, she wrote this book to gain understanding of the range of edible flowers. For the person who loves flower gardening and craft cocktails, this book is perfect. In just the past few years, urban flower farms have proliferated and more and more unusual blooms are offered at organic farmers’ markets to be used as centerpieces or ingredients.

I’ve attended at least three botanical edible flower classes offered locally, learning how to make things like sumac/lemon balm gin tonics. What I loved about this book is that it notably features the flowers and then lists the recipes as well as the lore and the language of the flower. Imagine being able to serve an elegant glass of a sparkling drink with floral undertones, garnished with flowers in season, and then tell your guests the ancient story of how that flower was first propagated and what goddess it symbolized? Similar books feature the liquor first, but I, as a gardener, care more about whether hibiscus can be used than rum.

Greatly appreciated: the little illustrated tab that shows you what kind of glassware to use!

Author Brown covers spirits, teas, cordials, liqueurs and garnishes. Sensually photographed, almost every photo seduces you to imagine the taste of her creations.

Read this now to plan your flower garden and start ordering from seed catalogs! Think of the tiny snapdragon seedlings in spring peat pots that will grow into Madame Butterfly cocktails in the summer… 5 stars!

Thank you to Rowman & Littlefield and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a nice book, but not one I picture myself using.

This book lists cocktails by plant ingredient and there's one or two recipes for each plant. While the pictures are beautiful, the recipes themselves are time consuming and some require difficult to find ingredients. For example, I'm not using popped amaranth to make a drink. I could see this being a good gift for someone who takes their drink making and gardening very seriously, but probably not for the casual cocktail maker.
