The Woman Inside has plenty of twists and messy secrets that keep you turning the pages. Some parts drag a bit, but overall it’s a solid, addictive read if you like domestic thrillers.

A different slant on a murder mystery where you know going in who is to be killed, but are given "windows" into the characters to uncover the killer before it can be revealed. It's like putting together a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces don't quite fit.....until they do.

Ever wonder why some books get all the hype while others barely make a ripple? And was the quiet one really worse—or just overlooked? Or is that just me?

That’s exactly how I felt reading The Woman Inside

If you've been around here a while, you’ll remember A Nearly Normal Family—it was everywhere, including lots of buzz from my reading group, The Traveling Friends. So naturally, I was curious why this follow-up didn’t make the same splash.

Was it not as strong? Not as twisty? Not as buzz-worthy? Well… maybe not as layered as A Nearly Normal Family, but honestly, when I compare it to other thrillers I’ve read recently, I’m scratching my head. Because it definitely holds its own.

And yeah, I know I overthink things, but here we go:
Deeply layered? No.
Suspenseful? Yes!
Fast-paced page-turner? Not exactly—but let’s be real, are most of the hyped ones?
Characters likable? Nope. But engaging? Definitely. And in thrillers, I’ll take compelling over cuddly any day.
Satisfying, surprising ending? Oh yes. Nailed it.
Believable? Not really—but it worked.

So where does this one fall on the thriller scale? Somewhere in that underrated-but-solid camp. The kind you think about after finishing and wonder, why this didn’t get more attention.

Will it wow the Goodreads picky crowd chasing the next big thing—or the ones who love to hate everything they read? Probably not.

Ok, I’ll admit—it was sitting on my NetGalley shelf while I was off chasing the next big read.
But for the rest of us—for readers who enjoy a twisty, underrated thriller with some bite, or who stumble on it at the library or find it long-forgotten on a shelf—it’s absolutely worth a try.

Not loud. Not flashy. Just good.

This was a decent read, albeit paced a little slow. It starts out with the discovery of a murdered man and woman, and the rest of the book walks the reader up to that point. There are 3 primary characters: Bill, who is down on his luck and mourning the loss of his wife, Karla, who is cleaning house for a rich couple so she can afford to go to school, agreeing to rent a room in Bill's house, and Jennica, a woman who is dating the rich husband, while not knowing he is married. The POVs shift between these 3 characters, while also including some information from the murder investigation in between chapters.

None of these characters were likable, though some were more horrible than others. I can get past that but I know some people can't.. The story plodded along a bit, but I wanted to find out what happened since we already know the outcome from the beginning. I was most interested in Karla's story, as the dynamic between her and the couple was confusing and left me wanting more. There suspense starts to rachet up towards the end, when all of these characters stories intersect in multiple different ways. The ending is not really a feel good ending, but was satisfying in its own way.

Overall, I liked the book and think it is one I will remember, even if the pacing was maybe a little slow. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was hoping that THE WOMAN INSIDE would pull me in, but I just couldn't connect. Where I wanted this to be a quick read, it seemed a little slower. I am sure that this book will find its audience. It just isn't me.

This book was just ok for me. It was way too long and very slow. I liked the multiple POVs but the characters in general were unlikeable. I was hoping for a good, jaw-dropping twist at the end but instead the ending was pretty predictable.

Thank you Celadon Books, NetGalley and the author for a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Maybe I've read a lot of books about maids getting wrapped up in a murder somehow but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I was hoping to. I felt the book was about 75 pages too long and could have been wrapped up sooner. I did enjoy the multiple POVs in this box. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book by M.T. Edvardsson and I enjoyed it! A multiple POV thriller, murder mystery that was more or a slow burn, character-driven style of novel.

It took me a while to finish this book and ultimately ended up listening to it as an audiobook after publication. Overall, the plot of the story was interesting but the characters are so unlikeable that I didn't even care once I got to the end. The book felt like it dragged on longer than it needed. I did appreciate how the story unfolded from the multiple different viewpoints but, for the reasons above, it wasn't my favorite.

I’m late to reviewing this but still wanted to because I enjoyed the book.

It’s about a wealthy couple murdered with three suspects, inspired by true events. I loved that it had multiple POVs; it was nice to learn the background of everyone separately. I thought this was a bit of a slow burn, and there were times where I couldn’t put the book down but generally nothing was too shocking. It was still a good read- just not a favorite. 3.5⭐️

The best way to describe this book is it was your run of the mill thriller. Probably a plot you’ve read a thousand times. I didn’t find any of the characters very likable which made it hard to get invested and the writing style wasn’t for me.
d to get invested and the writing style wasn’t for me. Thank you to Celadon and Netgalley for my copy!

Yet another book in a long line of books where there aren't any likable characters. Maybe i need to find a different genre for a bit to find someone I care for. I think Karla was the most relatable and could have been better if she had been a bit more developed. But honestly, did she even need to be? Interesting plot, but the relationships of the characters didn't really add much to it. I kept reading to see what happened; not because I cared for anyone. I had a few ideas of what ultimately happened with the murder victims, but I was surprised in the end.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for a free and unbiased review.

This was a propulsive and entertaining thriller that unfortunately suffered from being quite similar to a number of other domestic thrillers over the last few years. Readers will enjoy going along for the twisty ride with the Olsson family but in my opinion it didn’t really have staying power.

I finished this book to find out what happened but I didn’t enjoy it. The characters are all sad and flawed and the book drags and drags. The ending wasn’t bad or I would have been even more upset to have wasted so many hours reading it.

This was slower paced and a bit lengthy, but enjoyable nonetheless!
You’re following several different POVs in this one all revolving around the death of a wealthy couple. The former maid of the couple is getting room & board off the books from a single, widowed father that has a sketchy past. This isn’t your typical whodunit mystery/thriller and will surly have you on the edge of your seat!

A great story, set in Sweden, of several people whose lives intertwine in a way that ends in murder. We quickly find out a married couple has died, but was it murder? Suicide? And how are the other characters involved?

Karla works for the couple as a housecleaner, working her way through college. Bill and his young daughter need money, so they lease out a room to Karla. And Jennika is a friend of Bill's dead fiancee, the daughter's mother. These three characters are all connected to the dead couple in their own ways, as well.

Once I figured out all the characters and where they fit in, this book took off. Told from multiple perspectives, you realize who is more truthful than the others. I really enjoyed this one!

I enjoyed this thriller very as well as the audio. The story revolves around a woman named Sara, who is dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic event and the unraveling of her life. Edvardsson masterfully creates tension by alternating between different perspectives, including Sara's and those of other key characters. The pacing is gripping, with plenty of twists and a deep dive into the darker aspects of human nature. While some readers may find the characters' motivations occasionally hard to follow, the novel’s exploration of guilt, deception, and personal turmoil keeps the narrative engaging until the final page. It's a compelling read for fans of suspenseful, character-driven thrillers.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be looking for more. I absolutely loved this book and read it in one day. This was the perfect psychological thriller and I could not put it down! I would definitely recommend this book.

"The Woman Inside" by M.T. Edvardsson is a masterful thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. This book is packed with twists and turns, and Edvardsson's writing is so engaging that it’s impossible to put down.

The characters are brilliantly developed, each with their own secrets and complexities. One unforgettable scene involves the protagonist discovering a hidden diary that reveals shocking truths about her past. The tension and suspense in that moment are off the charts—you can practically feel her heart racing as she reads.

The pacing is just right, with a perfect balance of action and psychological depth. Edvardsson does an amazing job of creating an atmosphere of suspense and keeping you guessing until the very end.

If you’re into thrillers that are intense and full of surprises, "The Woman Inside" is a must-read. It’s an exhilarating ride that will keep you hooked till the last page.

This is one of those “mysterious lady hidden upstairs who is discovered by the cleaning lady/nanny/insert other character here ____.” There were several characters to keep track of and honestly I had to take a few notes to keep them straight. It’s a slow burn kind of character driven mystery as we try to discover who murdered the wealthy couple in their home. This is a very well written novel, as was Edvardsson’s A Nearly Normal Family, that sucks you in. Thank you to Celadon and Netgalley for this gifted copy.
