This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed her style of writing. The story was written from multiple POV and could feel the tension slowly building as every couple of chapters revealed more details of the story. I was really surprised at what the ending revealed and felt that everything came together in the last few chapters, answering so many questions I had (just as it should). The only thing that really bothered me was the low, breathy voice used for a few of the characters in the book. It was so off-putting to me that I almost stopped listening at the beginning of the book because it personally grated on my nerves. I’m glad I stuck with it, though, as the story was very suspenseful and I was able to get past my initial annoyance. I ended up rating this book 2 stars. The plot sounded interesting in theory and it started off strong. The dual POV and dual timeline I found very confusing and hard to follow at times. I wanted to love this one, but it was a little bit all over the place. Their were a lot characters and I couldn’t keep track of who was who at times.

Overall, I loved the narrator and I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future.

There are two main characters- Lauren, the pregnant woman and Jackie, the midwife who present the novel from two points of view. This is a new author for me. I found the book to be somewhat confusing, especially at the beginning, although the circumstances came to light by the end. Perhaps a Prologue would have helped. There was a plethora of triggers, including death, death of a baby, sexual assault and burying the remains of a baby in a shoe box. If this type of novel is disturbing to you, it is not recommended.

I gave this book a 3. This is because I could not stand the two main characters and it was very slow. However, the storyline is okay.

In this book there are two main characters; The midwife and the mother and the book is written from their points of view. Shocking twists at the end which made up for the slower pace to begin with. A very enjoyable read!

This is an intriguing tale which mysteries are all revealed towards the end with surprising answers. The mother is Lauren a girl in her early forties who got pregnant via IVF. Lauren is seven months pregnant when she meets Jackie. The Midwife is Jackie a more mature lady who just started working at the hospital where she meets Lauren while on a tour of the birthing unit. You can tell from chapter one that each character is hiding something that they do not want anyone to find out. This book is written so that it switches between ‘the mother’ and ‘the midwife’. I felt it took a while to get going and the back story was very slowly revealed. For me I would have preferred things to be a bit more fast paced and more back ground to be covered.
