Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing me with a digital galley in exchange for my honest review.

The Language of Tattoos is filled with gorgeous sketches and imagery, and full of tattoo history. Well-written, and infinitely interesting.

I enjoyed reading about the symbolism in each image as they relate to different cultures and art styles. Included are mainly American Traditional, Japanese, and black and grey style.

A really interest short book perfect for an art-lover’s coffee table.

This was good but I was left wanting more. I hoped for a deeper meaning or something but I just got descriptions of the meaning that were too basic and it's something you can easily find online.
It was good for beginners but if you already have basic knowledge about tattoos this is nothing groundbreaking.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Whether you are a tattoo aficionado or simply someone who is curious about the art form of tattooing, this book is not to be missed.

Schonberger has created a guide which is as richly visual as it is informative. Each symbol is thoroughly researched, with the examination including the significance along with the cultural and historical origins.

I was surprised by quite a few of the meanings and learned a lot! Definitely expect to see this book on coffee tables and tattoo artists' shelves increasingly in the coming years for interest and for reference.

A dive into the meaning and history behind over 100 well known tattoo designs, this book is great for the historian, the art enthusiast, or someone looking to derive original meaning, rather than personal meaning, from the ink on their body. Highly recommend as an introductory text.

Tattoos are great. The symbolism and the designs - people’s ideas of tattoos and the things they are inspired by. I liked reading this a lot. Highly recommend!

The title of this book tells you exactly what you'll get and I liked it for what it was. Nothing too deep, nothing too complex, just the concise meaning and lore behind 130 symbols and their place in tattoo history. What really elevated this were the beautiful illustrations.

This book is wonderful! I love raids and to find out where certain tradition designs came from is fascinating! Complete with examples of the tattoos themselves this book is really interesting!

I loved the art in this book! I do hope there's a bit more editing before it's released; things like missing definite articles, unnecessary commas, missing necessary commas, a couple misspelled words ("momento" mori instead of "memento"). But it was fascinating to learn about the stories behind flash tattoos!

This book is good if you’re liking at getting a tattoo and want to see a brief explanation of what certain tattoos normally stand for, but as someone more interested in the meanings, I found it lacking. Each type of tattoo, I.e cherub, or Jesus face etc, had 1 paragraph about it which basically said the obvious, I.e if someone has a tattoo of Virgin Mary, the chances are the person is religious, or a tattoo of a heart with a dagger through it is betrayal or heartbreak etc
