Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
Whilst this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone; sufficient information about characters and previous events is provided to ensure readers understand the background. The descriptions of the inn and the way it is run make it sound a lovely place to stay, a cosy haven where guests are welcomed and cared for with personal touches. Katy falls speedily into a job there through an emergency, and there is evidence of attraction between her and Rupert from the beginning. The story is interesting, with a couple of twists, and although the romance is predictable this wouldn't be a Helen Rolfe book if it didn't have a happy ending. Lovely story, makes a pleasant holiday read.

This book is number seven in the ‘New York Ever After’ series, however, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. The characters are warm, and relatable. It is a lovely book to read on a vacation, either on the beach or by your poolside. Don’t forget your glass of wine!

A heartwarming romance story, it is filled with loving characters. A light and breezy read. Pick this up if you love clean romances, friendships and community.

When the owner of Inglenook Inn is called away for a family emergency, the inn is left in the capable hands of chef Rupert. With his boss away, he needs help running the inn. Along comes Katy, who is currently out of work and definitely needs a new place to stay now that her dad and his girlfriend are getting married. Inglenook Inn is the perfect option. Rupert and Katy work well to make the inn run smoothly, until Rupert's sister comes along bringing drama and secrets.

I did not know that this is the continuation of a series. However, I didn’t feel I had missed anything from not reading the others in the series.

From the very first page of this book, I was stunned, mesmerised. Written with a ferocious passion that'll knock the wind out of you!
I’m so sad it's over. I could have read another sixty chapters . . . A fantastic read!

Katy is recently unemployed and find out that her father is planning to remarry. Being unemployed drive her to find job as soon as possible and when Sofia needs to be with her daughter who was involved in an accident, her friend employed Katy to run the Inglenook Inn with the resident chef, Rupert. Rupert is happy to take over the responsibility. Both Katy and Rupert work very well together and when Rupert’s sister turned up at their doorstep, she brings a whole set of problem to them to solve.

It is a story of family relationship, love and friendship support. I love the main characters who come across as very caring and their dialogues are very well written. There is instant spark between Rupert and Katy. Overall, it is a heartwarming story which carries some sensitive issues which both Rupert and Katy have to faced.

This book is part of the Inglenook series. It is a cozy, heartwarming book, perfect for reading on a quiet night by the fire. I have not read the other books in the series but since I found the storyline, location and characters to be so charming, I will definitely read other selections from the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the seventh book in the New York Ever After series from this author. For readers acquainted with the series, the storyline in this book takes us back to the boutique Inglenook Inn, housed in a Manhattan brownstone, and to some characters who appeared in earlier parts of the series as a whole. I have enjoyed all the other books in this series, and looked forward to being reacquainted with some familiar faces as well as meet some new ones. However, it is not necessary to have read the other books in the series to fully enjoy this story.

As this story begins, the owner of the Inglenook Inn, Sofia, is called away by a family emergency, leaving the chef, Rupert, in charge and looking for someone to help him run things in her absence. He is lucky to find Katy, a young lady with years of experience in the hotel industry, who could step into the job immediately as she had just left her previous position. For her part, she is glad to find a live-in job that means she will not have to share an apartment with her dad and his girlfriend. All is going well until Rupert’s sister, Natalie, turns up at the hotel, acting strangely and causing Rupert and Katy extra stress and work. In spite of everything, as time passes, Katy begins to realise that she is developing feelings for Rupert and that perhaps they are reciprocated.

I very much enjoyed this story; I quickly became immersed in events at the Inglenook Inn and finished the book all too soon. Like the other books in this series, I can positively recommend this one, and if you haven’t read the others, they are worth seeking out as well. I liked all of the well-formed characters in this story. They were all dealing with worrying issues in one way or another, each of which was dealt sensitively by the author. Natalie’s behaviour made me want to dislike her, but I was sure that there was more going on than the others realised. The descriptions of Inglenook Inn once more had me longing to visit. The staff went to amazing lengths in order to make everyone’s stay perfect; who wouldn’t want to visit?

Family secrets at the Inglenook Inn by Helen Rolfe is the 7th installment in the New Yever after series but can be read as a standalone too.

Rupert has been the chef at the Inglenook Inn for years, he is practically family to the owner. He loves working at this boutique hotel, he makes wonderfull meals and beautiful desserts for all the guests. When there's an emergency, Rupert has to fill in for his boss and run the place. As if this is not stressful enough, his sister Natalie shows up, bringing more trouble than luggage.

Katy comes for a temporary job at the Inglenook Inn. She needs a break after being unemployed and having no luck at all. She has a lot of experience so she can really help Rupert managing the hotel but she was not prepared for the load of drama she encounteres at the Inglenook Inn. To make matters worse she worries her dad might make a big decision he will come to regret.

Rupert and Katy must give it their all to manage everything, but there seems to be magic in the air at the Inglenook Inn. Working together they find something unexpected and beautiful. Could that be love, in only a few days?

I thought it could take my time reading this, but once I started, I read it all at once. I just couldn't stop. The familiar and cosy atmosphere, the setting at a boutique hotel and the heartwarming and realistic characters made it a wonderful story I was unable to put down. I didn't know it was a 7th edition to a series, but now that I know and love this book, I immediately downloaded the others as well.
The hotel is just so cosy and pleasant. I want to live there. I want those characters to be my friends and family. It really is something special the author has managed to craft here. The real life problems the characters have to face are well balanced with humor and funny moments. The community spirit is heartwarming. A story filled with happiness, humor and loving characters that leaves you with a feelgood vibe.

I have been a fan of Helen’s work for a while now. By no means have I caught up with everything that she has written but that is something that I hope to rectify in the not too distant future. I read the synopsis of ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’, it certainly sounded like the sort of book I have come to expect from Helen- a fun, light hearted, romantic, uplifting and heartwarming read. Well it was certainly all that and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Family Secrets At The inglenook Inn’ but more about that in a bit.

As with all of Helen’s books, as soon as I started reading, I knew that I was reading something special and that I would struggle to put the book to one side for any length of time. I started reading and found that I just couldn’t stop. I loved both of the main characters (Rupert and Katy). – in fact they began to feel more like friends rather than characters in a book. Both haven’t had an easy time of late but they have still found a way to carry on. I had to know if they both got their ‘happy ever after” ending that they both so deserved and so I had to keep reading. The more of the book that I Read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to be turning. All too quickly I got to the end of ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’ and I had to say goodbye to Rupert and Katy. I found ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’. i found ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’ to be a nice and cosy read, which certainly kept me guessing. After I had finished reading ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’ I felt as though I had had a ‘hug from a mug of hot chocolate’- in other words I was left feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Helen Rolfe. Helen has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Helen’s books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading an actual book. I hope that makes sense. Helen certainly knows how grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story. Helen clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Helen so vividly describes New York and in particular the Inglenook Inn- I was all set to pack a suitcase reading for a stay there. I love the way in which the author makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That’s how I feel anyway.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Family Secrets At The Inglenook Inn’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Helen’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

We return to the inglenook inn to follow Katy and Rupert. Katy is newly unemployed and taking the job at the inglenook inn at short notice to help owner Sofia who has to leave suddenly to travel to look after he daughter after an accident.

Rupert the chef helps Katy settle into the inn and they work together to keep the inn afloat whilst Sofia is away. Little do they know they will become close and secrets they both keep will need to be dealt with in order for them to move on.

I hadn't read any of the New York Ever After series when I started this book, so no characters or places were familiar, but that didn't matter. I loved every minute of this story and had trouble putting the book down to get on with other stuff that needed tending to and now that I have read it, I want to read all the other books in this series!

The only thing I didn't love about Rupert was his name, in every other aspect he was the perfect leading man. He was fun, kind, a great cook and a man that cherished his family and did everything in his powers to help them. Katy was also lovely and it didn't take long to feel like I had known her forever and could feel what she was feeling every step of the way with her new job at the inn and all the added drama with Rupert's surprise visit from his sister.

This really was a wonderful story about friendships, family and starting over with a sprinkling of romance.
