In a sea of rom coms, this was just another fish in the sea. I think maybe I’ve read too many in a short span for this one to stand out for me. In fact, I’m going to take a break from this genre for a while. With that said, Friendshipped was cute enough. I just didn’t connect with it. My favorite part was the birthday scavenger hunt. That was such a cute idea.
The narration was good. But it did take me a while to get in to the voices and connect with them too.

3.5/5

Lexi and Trevor are two BFFs that both secretly are in love with each other. However, they do not initially act on it because they do not want to lose their friend if it goes badly. This is a slow burn story with a lot of witty parts that made me laugh out loud.

Lexi was forced to make a dating profile and that was a unique twist to a friends to lovers story. A lot of Lexi’s previous dates were so so bad that is was hilarious.

Read if you like:
- Friends to lovers
- Coworkers to lovers
- Light-hearted rom-com
- Witty writing and characters
- Small town
- Slow burn

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lexi and Trevor have been best friends all their lives. Trevor tried to step over the line of friendship a couple of times, but things did not end well. Now, each is in love with the other but are afraid to act on it for fear of ruining their friendship. Can they take a chance on love and find their heart’s desire?

Friends to lovers is my absolute favorite trope, and Lexi and Trevor are such a cute couple! Amy McFadden and Will Damron both did an excellent job narrating Lexi and Trevor’s parts. This was a warm hug of a story that I highly recommend to anyone who wants a feel-good story!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

This was such an enjoyable listen that now I need to listen to/read everything ever written by Savannah Scott! I have literally lived this story (minus the ending) and it was so easy to relate to the main female character. What a joy to read!

This started slow and I almost DNF’d. Glad I stuck with it because it really is a cute rom com!

Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for early access to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Lexie and Trevor have been best friends since grade school. They work together on the same newspaper, live on opposite sides of the same duplex and share everything except admitting they are in love with each other. Each is waiting for the other to make the first move, and since that hasn’t happened, they decide to get on a dating app and try to find the next best thing.

Friendshipped is the perfect best friends to lovers rom-com! I laugh until I cried at the smart, witty dialogue between Lexie and Trevor. I loved the endearing supporting cast of small town folks ready to give their opinions at any time. I love that this is also the first in a series with four more books to read!

Lexi and Trevor have been best friends for as long as they both can remember but they both have a secret. They're in love with each other but they have had hiccups when they have tried to pursue romance in the past and now are intent on not messing up their friendship. This friends to lovers romance has a fair share of will they, won't they. Despite what everyone in their proximity knows and can tell from miles away, they are resistant to showing their love for each other. They finally relent and realize that their feelings for each other are too strong and they decide to hide them no longer. It's a slow burn in terms of them acting on their feelings but they both talk about their love for each other from the first moment.

I gotta be honest, I was pretty frustrated reading this book.

Though the story itself was a simple and cute friends to lovers book... The use of fat-positive representation at times felt more damaging than good. Her focus on her body and how others perceive her body, may have been realistic, but when we're trying to write more plus size women as romantic leads, it's hard to hear the same diatribe we do in our normal lives. She's wonderful and gorgeous and big. That needed to be it.

Others have mentioned the other issue I found - which is that it took nearly the entire book for them to *finally* be together. You barely get a moment to spend with the couple before the book was finished.

Unfortunately, this just wasn't the book for me.

I finished this because I am NOT a quitter. Not because I enjoyed it, but because I have completion issues.

First and foremost, having a bigger female lead SHOULD NOT SHOULD NOT SHOULD FREAKING NOT equate to the amount of insecurity that bled all over these pages. A diet because she’s on a dating app? WRECKING HER HAIR so MAYBE he’d notice her? Saying her body means another man is “completely out of her league?” COME ON. You can have a bigger female lead and leave all of that out. It was so difficult to move beyond.

Second, if I had to hear her say “he’s my BEST FRIEND!” one more time? Oh my GOD. GIRL, WE KNOW.

Also, waiting almost the entire freaking book (94%) for them to finally figure it out and get together? Absolutely not. No. Not with a book this length. No.

This had so much potential and it totally missed the mark for me.

This was such a sweet story of best friends who are meant to be together … everyone knows it, but they each get in the way. Not only do they share a duplex, they also share everything about their failed dating experiences. This story winds its way to a satisfying conclusion in a most endearing way. I really enjoyed the journey.

I love a good friends-to-lovers story. And i really wanted this one to be great, but it was just ok for me. I enjoyed Trevor and Lexi’s journey together from friends to lovers. This book had some cute moments. However, the story felt like it was dragged out for a really long time and then rushed at the very end.

Ugh I really wanted to love this. The characters were adorable. Their relationship (friendship) was also really cute. Unfortunately, there was very little to the actual story line. It was a lot of both characters expressing their hidden love for their best friend, but never really talking to one another about it. There isn’t even much going on to show that they want more from the relationship than just friendship. Basically, it becomes frustrating and kind of boring because you spend half the book just wanting more to actually happen. Neighbors who become best friends who want more. Will they get what they want?

Thank you Netgalley for my advanced reader copy.

If you love the "best friends to lovers" trope, this will be a good story for you. Trevor and Lexi have known one another forever. As a matter of fact, there's a photo of them in the bathtub together when they were each a year old.

He's been "the boy next door" her entire life, and Lexi can't imagine ever being with anyone other than Trevor. But he just doesn't seem to be that into her. So, she decides it's time to move on. Her sister convinces her to join a dating app, and the whole experience convinces her all the more that no one is as good a match for her as Trevor is. If only he felt the same way!

Trevor has been into Lexi since high school. But the one time he tried to kiss her, she screamed, and he had no idea what to do with that. So he decided he couldn't risk losing her friendship. If that's all he could have, it would have to be enough.

Their friends and families see how perfect they are for each other, but neither one of them is willing to make the first move for fear of messing everything up. When Lexi decides it's time to move on, Trevor lets her, believing that her happiness is more important than his own. But, boy! Is he glad to hear about each unsuccessful date.

He has no idea how his heart could take it if she found someone. And she can't let go of her jealousy when his high school girlfriend moves back to town, determined to win him back.

The narration of this audiobook is great! It did start to feel a bit long and drawn out after a while. But overall, the story was enjoyable, although I found Trevor to be more relatable than Lexi was.

Thank you to Savannah Scott, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

When I read the synopsis I was really excited. I love best friend to lover books because cimmunication is so important and if you are friends you already have that worked out. Well this wasn't that story for me. I spent more times yelling at the charcater to just Talk to Each Other then actual hearing the story. The entire book was soooo slow and riddled with over the top non drama it was hard to get through. The idea that she kept going on disastrous dates was great except she was IN LOVE with him and he was IN LOVE with her. It took 70% of the way through the book where Trevor decided he was going to try and date her through the app. Why wasn't that Page 1. The friend were all telling each of them that they were in love with each other but neither listened. The whole clingy old girlfriend was horrible and cliche and there was no moment where everything comes together. Every page was each of them saying...I love him/her BUT. I am not a fan of miscommunication trope and this was on ever page of this book.

The only reason this was a not a DNF for me was the aduio narration was excellent. The voice of Trevor was especially well done.

In this sweet romcom, two longtime best friends mutually pine for each other, both afraid that crossing the line into romance will ruin their friendship forever. They work together. They carpool together. They live in the same house—albeit in two separate duplexes. Their lives are wrapped up in each other, but when Lexi overhears Trevor speaking to one of their mutual friends and misunderstands the intent behind what Trevor is saying, she decides it is time to move on.

Strap in for some disastrous dates, quippy one liners, banter, and heartburn as these two friends circle each other in this slow burn. Will they open up and discuss their feelings, or will they pine for each other while settling for second best?

For those readers curious about heat levels, please be aware that this romance is kissing only.

It is a cute small town, friends-to-lovers story with a sweet, good guy love interest and a spunky girl-next-door. The driving force behind the book is the two friends not wanting to / not being ready to admit their feelings for each other, and the reader gets to hear about those feelings—and that indecision—quite a lot.

I listened to the audiobook version of the story. This one has dual narrators to go along with the dual POV. I found myself increasing the playback a little more than normal and comfortably listened at 2x speed.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

This was pretty cute. A really easy listen. I wouldn't necessarily call this a slow burn because there was never a "fire" moment, if you catch my drift. It was good, not amazing or anything, and kind of forgettable. The narration was great though!

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, secret feelings, best friends to lovers, next door neighbors, workmates, small town, slow burn, no steamage, sweet, characters in their early 20's

Lexi & Trevor
Holy slow burning me. These two have been bff's for years and each harbor secret feelings towards the other, but are too scared to make a move because they don't want to rock the friend ship, 🤣 so typical friends to lovers trope. They were so in sync with each other and so cute. I really wanted one of them to take a leap sooner than they did, but I enjoyed the journey to the adorable epilogue nonetheless.

Trevor was a cutie patootie that bakes cinnamon rolls!
Lexi's other best friend, Laura, was so fun. I really liked the scavenger hunt she organized for Lexi's 23rd birthday. Mema was a great character too.

This is my first time with this author and I'd like to listen to more of this series.

Narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron for 8 hours and 58 minutes, easy to follow at 2-2.5x. I think they did a fine job.

Friendshipped by Savannah Scott was an entertaining audiobook! This audiobook was a fun look at the lack of communication fear that can stop someone from achieving their dream. The characters were great as they had realistic personalities. This storyline was a well-thought-out story in the friends-to-lovers trope. The dual narration of narrators brought life to this audiobook; they did an excellent job. I'll listen to more of this author's books in the future! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook from NetGalley.

What happens when the best friend that you have known almost since birth turns out to be the one that you are desperately in love with? Why, hide it of course! A fun look at how lack of communication and fear can keep you from achieving the one dream that you want more than anything. Great characters with realistic personalities draw you into this fun and well plotted out story in the friends to lovers trope. The dual narration of the audiobook did an outstanding job of helping flesh out the characters. I am hopeful that we'll get more of this Ohio town and the characters in it from this author as they have set this up to be a great series option. I'll definitely be in line to listen to more of this author's books!

This book was super cute. I loved that they were both in loved with each other the entire time and that timing was always just off. Did I predict that from the moment he found out she was on the dating app that he would join and secretly talk to her.. yes.

SPOILERS

Things that I wish we knew more of.
Why did their boss never listen to a single word that she pitched? Was it because she was a woman? Did she not want her to get a one up?

I want a second book all about their house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall I really enjoyed this book and the narrators were fantastic!
