This is the first book in the Piper and Porter series I have read. And I enjoyed it enough that I will go back and read the first book. This was a great and clean cozy mystery. The characters are well developed. And the mystery will have you guessing until the very end with all of the twists and turns. This is a great book to curl up in the recliner with and snuggle under a blanket. I can’t wait for the next adventure with Darby and Tate!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This is the second book in the Piper and Porter Mystery series and a perfect series to get in at the beginning if you haven't tried an Amanda Flower series yet. Darby Piper runs Piper and Porter Detective Agency in Herrington, New York. When her partner Samantha died, she left her share in the agency to her nephew Tate, so he is now Darby's partner. He doesn't know much about the PI business, but has a military background. In this story, they are hired by the wife of a dermatologist and old friend of Tate's, to investigate who has been sending her husband threatening letters. They are invited to a ski resort, where he is wining and dining some acquaintances and business associates, hoping the sender will be in attendance. When Dr. Madd is found dead, shot by a crossbow, the case takes a different turn. Unfortunately there has been a major storm and they are snowed in, so no police can get there to investigate at first, so it is left to Darby and Tate.

Frozen Detective was a great addition to this series with a mystery that kept me guessing right to the end. Cece, Dr. Madd's wife seemed like a perfect suspect to me, but as the story unfolded it seemed that several people had motives to kill Dr. Madd. With a storm causing them to be snowed in, the power going out and a lot of disgruntled people, I was dizzy trying to guess who might be the culprit. This mystery was a bit more complex than some of the other books I have read, but that made it all the more interesting. There was a great showdown with a snowmobile race leading us to the final reveal. I will say that I thought the culprit's motive was a bit weak, and that brought my 5 star review down a notch. I will continue to read the Piper and Porter mysteries as I am enjoying the mysteries and the relationship building between Darby and Tate. I did a read/listen with the audiobook narrated by Laura Faye Smith. She also narrated the first book in this series and I have been pleased with her performance. She had good expression, voices and tone. I recommend Frozen Detective in either format, whichever you prefer.

I really like this series. I think it’s clear that there will be a romance soon, and I am here for it. I will be coming back to the next book for sure!

I was given a NetGalley widget for this one a year ago and I just got around to reading it and dangit it was so good. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have consumed this wildly relevant fictional tale, which felt not at all fictional, more like historical fiction, due to the times. The cover initially was what drew me in, but I'm so thankful to have stuck with it because the outcome was magical. I always love listening to audiobooks and when they sweep me off my feet, I'm just utterly captivated! I always really enjoy multi-cultural thrillers, for I embark on a journey through a land unknown to me, while still getting spooked.

I loved this second book in the series, for me it was stronger than the first. I was much more engaged with the two main characters, and the setting--a fancy party for New Year's, was a great one for a mystery. Then the mystery itself was pretty twisty with some great red herrings thrown in with a confrontation with the killer (or killers or ?) at the end...here's hoping for a book 3. (Also so much admiration for Amanda Flower, unlike some cozy writers who write the same book over and over and just change the characters names, this series is unique from her others).

I am always up for a hallmark book! Cecily hires a private investigator after her husband receives some suspicious and possibly threatening letters. Piper and Tate take on the case and agree to pretend to be a couple for this high payout case.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

This was the second book in the Piper and Porter series by Amanda Flower. This can be read as a stand alone as I missed the first one in the series. Darby and Tate must pretend to be a couple while trying to figure out who was sending nasty letters to Dr Madd. Next thing we know there is a murder to solve in this winter wonderland. Will they figure it out in time or become victims themselves? These are a couple of quirky detectives you will really like. Also fall in love with the giant slobbering Tiny. Amanda Flower knows how to write a good cozy which includes may others as well.

This was a great cozy mystery. It kept me engaged with the story, the characters were well developed and the mystery kept me guessing. This was a good audiobook! I also enjoyed listening to the narrator!

This one was pretty good until I got a little ways into and the main character started doing things that seemed idiotic. The choices she made didn't make any sense and I felt like the author hadn't been sure what to do to move the story along. This one was not a good fit for me.

A cozy mystery from Amanda Flower, narrated by Laura Faye Smith. Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Hallmark Publishing for this opportunity to review an advance copy of the Audiobook: FROZEN DETECTIVE.

I enjoyed the story and its setting at a ski resort. Perfect for a snowy day of reading in front of a fireplace.

This is the second in the series of Piper & Porter Mystery. I was easily able to follow without having read the first book.

The pace and intrigue are good and the twists interesting. My only concern was the narrator’s voice which was hard to distinguish when she went from one character to another.

I still give it a 4 star review and look forward to the next instalment,

The narrator did a good job reading this book. This audiobook is in stores for $17.99 (USD).

I've read a previous book in this series, so thought it might be interesting to learn the next adventure for Darby and her new partner Tate. A woman who grew up with Tate has asked them to investigate threatening letters sent to her famous dermatologist husband. They're to attend a New Years Eve weekend at a local ski lodge owned by the woman. While there, the doctor is found murdered on the ski slopes. Darby and Tate, along with Darby's ex, Austin, who is now the town's police detective, begin their investigation with a snowstorm approaching. There are several characters who are suspects and some of them are quite remarkable, especially the inn's manager who happens to also have a St. Bernard named Tiny. In fact, I think Tiny is probably the best character in the book!

I felt the narration could have been better. The voices of the gay couple seemed particularly high-pitched, stereotypically exaggerated. And, even some of the other male characters seemed to be have too effeminate or whiny voices.

Overall, it was an interesting story to listen to, but I wouldn't say it was extraordinary. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

In Frozen Detective, the second installment of Amanda Flower's Piper and Porter mystery series, Darby Piper and Tate Porter have been hired by their former schoolmate, Cecily Madd, to investigate the threatening letters that Cecily's husband, a dermatologist with his own line of skincare products, has been receiving. To perform the investigation, they are invited to stay at a ski resort that is owned by Cecily and is the setting of a meeting between a number of individuals who have been invited to make proposals regarding new products for the skincare line. The investigation takes a macabre turn when Dr. Madd is discovered dead on the ski slope the morning after everyone has arrived at the resort after having been shot by an arrow from a crossbow.

In this book, the author has created a group of characters that each have a reason to want the victim dead and through very creative storytelling keeps the reader involved. Within this story, there are multiple unrelated plots that each end with a few surprising revelations and more than one culprit being identified with the various situations presented within the story. I enjoy all of this author's works and look forward to the future adventures of the characters within this series.

The narration of this book maintains an appropriate pace so as to allow the listener to follow the storyline without dragging or losing track of what is happening. I would like to see a bit more differentiation between the voices of the different characters within the narration as at times it became difficult to identify the speaking character.

I received an ARC of this audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a fun fresh cozy mystery !
A wealthy doctor and skincare company owner is murdered the morning after a big New Year’s Eve bash with big announcements. The weapon? A bow-and-arrow. Every guest at the party is a potential suspect, from the first and the second wife to the investigative journalist, the competitor …. Darby and Tate, the sleuths, were invited because of threatening notes sent to the doctor that his wife (the younger and newer one) found, but she found excuses not to actually share them. Also the perfect party seems more important to her than uncovering who is threatening her husband. Could she have murdered her husband or at least be behind it ? What about the manager of the lodge where the party is taking place ? Or the lovely, young actress the doctor was hiring to represent the skincare line substituting than his wife? The ex-wife?
You'll have to read the book all the way to the very action-packed ending. This was a very fun ride !
I listened to the audio for this one and loved the recording !

Is it possible for a murder mystery to be, well, adorable? FROZEN DETECTIVE is the second Piper and Porter mystery from bestselling, Agatha Award-winning writer, Amanda Flower, and it glides to its surprising conclusion with the ease of a pro skier on the well-groomed ski slopes of the novel's posh (fictitious) Golden Peak Lodge. Cecily Madd, the latest client of private detectives Darby Piper and Tate Porter, hires the pair to find out who has been sending threatening letters to her wealthy husband, Dr. Garrett Madd. Darby and Tate, posing as a couple, join the Madds as their guests at a week-long gathering for friends, clients, and vendors vying to introduce their products to Garrett for his skin care company. The morning after Garrett Madd makes a public announcement rocking the future of the company--and surprisingly--his wife's, he's shot with an arrow that kills him. Though the mystery takes place in small town New York, the lodge setting gives it an intriguing British house party vibe, where all the characters are snowed in, with a murderer hiding in their midst. Along with anyone connected with MaddlyCare, the suspects include an unexpected family member, and plenty of locals involved with Golden Peak Lodge, in which hometown girl Cecily has a large financial interest. The real charm of FROZEN DETECTIVE lies in the quirky personality of Darby Piper, cat rescuer, wearer of gumball purple snowsuits, reluctant skier, smart businesswoman, and closet romantic. Her ex of one year, Austin, is the chief cop in town. He's not quite over her, and she has an obvious fondness for him. There's a faded but powerful electricity between them, but then there's also her growing affection for Tate for her to reckon with. Tate is ex-Army, very handsome, a bit of a klutz, and a natural detective, They are off to a good beginning, turning into a solid, working team. It will be interesting to see how this triangle plays out in the series, Darby seems to be just awakening to the possibilities of her attraction to Tate. The solution to the mystery of Garrett Madd's murder is deliciously twisty. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there were more surprises. That's my favorite kind of ending. Looking forward to the next adventures of Piper and Porter.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and all options expressed are entirely my own.

I have recently called in love with mystery books and I was excited to read another. This takes place at a ski lodge in the winter and it made me want to plan a winter getaway. I am excited to continue this series.

A good winter mystery story. Fun characters and a great story. It was not overly predictable and not too intense. A happy medium for a light hearted mystery.

This is not my first Amanda Flower book. I have read her AMISH CANDY SHOP MYSTERY Series — AMISH MATCHMAKER MYSTERY Series — and have her MAGICAL BOOKSHOP MYSTERY Series on my TBR (to be read) pile. She also writes under Isabella Alan:and I have read the — Amish Quilt Shop Mystery Series. I have never been disappointed in one of her cozy mysteries and this one did not disappoint either. I didn’t realize that this was the second one in this series (need to read the 1st one now) — however it read like a stand alone book.

I enjoyed the characters and the quirkiness in their personalities. The plot was interesting and invited me to keep going. I enjoy the low key aspect of cozy mysteries as they give a bit of suspense with not a lot gore. Good character development and it kept me guessing at times.

I recommend to those that enjoy cozy mysteries and those who need a lighter read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy for an honest review.
