Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison is the third in the Lovelight Farms series where we follow the characters of Layla and Caleb. While this is a series, they can be read in any order but characters from previous books pop up. If I were you, I would go in order because this series really gives you insight into previous characters which I love.

The dual point of views is always fantastic with this series and I enjoyed the narration by Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell.

A few parts made me chuckle but this is not my favorite in the series. The fake dating trope is present in Mixed Signals which is usually my favorite but was just okay for me. I felt like Caleb's previous dates and have to agree that he was just too much for me, and not in a good way.

Still, I enjoyed this one and cannot wait to continue reading the Lovelight Farm series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my gifted audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

4 Sweet Stars!

Third book in the series, this book follows Layla and Caleb. She is the owner of the bake shop at Lovelight who is been on an awful dating streak and Caleb who is a substitute teacher and also has bad luck with dating and has been crushing on Layla for a while. They come up with an "arrangement" to date each other so they can figure out what they are doing wrong.

It was cute enough, but I just felt like it was pretty much a copy of the two previous books. It follows the same kind of book formula the other two did and it felt a little stale. Again, there was another 3rd act nonsense that happened and this is the third time in a row now that this writer chooses this direction and it's lacking imagination. I actually really do like her writing style and I feel she could do better with the plotting of these stories.

That being said, I still like the small town background and it was really funny at times. Caleb was so sweet (maybe too sweet) and I loved the all the cameos by the previous couples.

Great audio!

-dual POV
-small town
-colorful Hawaiian shirts
-I'm bad at dating, can you help me?
-sunshine x sunshine
-friends to lovers
-a croissant and a coffee. just cream
-golden retriever, all around nice guy hero
-the color orange 🍊
-love & appreciation for a good escape room
-lavender, scarves, expensive champagne, & cheap crab chips
-"no one has ever looked at me the way you do"

This was exactly what I needed on a cold & dreary day. 💛

I don’t know why I waited so long to read Caleb & Layla’s story. It was so delightful! All the dating mishaps at the beginning? The phone tree? The town coming together to save Layla’s interview? Just everything about this was perfect. 😍

And a book about a bake shop isn’t complete without a baked good. 🥧🍰

I made this delicious Blackberry Lavender Buckle from @halfbakedharvest and it was the perfect accompaniment to this fun story. I could totally see Layla making this & Caleb salivating. 🤤

If you haven’t read the Lovelight Farms series yet, you need to! This one might be my favorite so far.

Thank you so much to @dreamscape_media for the ALC.

I cannot begin to explain to you how much I fell in love with Caleb Alvarez. Caleb proposes that he and Layla try a month of fake dating. He can practice his dating skills, which others have told him are not great. Layla can finally date a guy who isn't a total loser. Layla agrees. She has had it with men but does want love and romance. As a baker, she sees couples come into her shop and she wants what they have.

I just adored Caleb. He is the sweetest cinnamon roll of a hero. This guy would do anything for Layla. I felt for Layla in her desire to find her person to share life with. I loved how easy they were together. They felt like a perfect match. They cheered one another on, had a ton of fun together, and were just all around good people. I wanted them to win so badly in the end.

This series around Lovelight Farms has been nothing but delightful. This book holds up to that standard of a top-notch romance. I cannot get enough and will be certain to go back for re-reads in the future. The audio is well done but I prefer this one in paperback so I can annotate as I read. I would say either is a great choice, though. No matter which way you choose to read it, I highly recommend you do ASAP.

Ahhh! This book was so cute! I loved being back at Lovelight Farm and I absolutely adored Layla and Caleb’s story. I loved Caleb so much and love how him and Layla cared for each other. The audiobook was great, although I didn’t love Caleb’s narration as much as Layla’s. Such a cute story!

No because why did I start from the third book in the series! Even still, it was a very enjoyable and steamy small town romance which makes you want to pack your bags and move somewhere small. We get a very sweet MC (which doesn’t happen a lot lol) and an even sweeter FMC. Was a fun read overall!

I swear the Lovelight Farms series just keeps getting better with each book! Book three focuses on Layla, the local baker who has given up on love, and Caleb, a local teacher who is determined to renew her faith in dating. They agree to one month of no-strings dating so Caleb can show Layla what dating should look like and how she should be treated, and in turn, she’ll rate his game and give him pointers. It should be a win-win situation, but their insane chemistry starts to get in the way, and feelings start to grow, and no-strings doesn’t seem so accurate after all.

I love seeing snippets of the characters from the previous books, but truly Mixed Signals can be read as a standalone. Caleb is the perfect boyfriend and I just adored him and Layla together. Their chemistry was perfect for a pretty spicy story but together they are so so sweet. I have adored every book in this series so far and highly recommend it.

The audiobook is well done, and the narrators do an excellent job giving these characters a voice. Thank you, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for my gifted copy.

i love being transported back to lovelight farms with every sequel b.k. borison publishes! maybe i’ve got to move there since it seems like everybody is finding themselves in a long-term relationship - first stella and luca, then evie and beckett … and now layla! her story has been my favorite of the three (the rankings among them are very tight though!!) and only part of it has to do with my bias towards her bakeshop! her goodies sound so mouthwatering and i would give anything to take a visit down to lovelight to try one of her butter croissants and a slice of strawberry shortcake! i’m also partial to caleb, whose a local teacher, because of his patience and creativity when it comes to planning dates.

now, i’m not usually a fan of arranged/fake dating, which i said after reading “lovelight farms” but b.k. borison has made all of my not-so favorite tropes into something magical! i laughed along with layla whenever caleb’s plans didn’t always turn out as he’d imagined … and i give huge props to him for laughing them off. i love how our MCs from the previous books make multiple appearances in “mixed signals” because it really ties it all together! of course, the majority of the plot is centered around stella and caleb. usually the resolution of novels can make-it-or-break-it for me and even though i can get frustrated with the back and forth of figuring out if relationships will work, i felt like it was necessary in this book and it was executed perfectly. it certainly made the title “mixed signals” to be fitting!! everything was lovable - from the beginning to the end!

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison was super sweet, spicy, and entertaining. The audiobook made the story even better. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.

B.K. Borison does it again!

In another lovely addition to the Lovelight Farms series, Borison brings the best of all the tropes to craft a wonderful small town, friends to lovers - fake dating, slow burn/hidden feelings love story. Layla and Caleb feel like a natural couple and their story felt like watching your friends finally get together.

This is the third book in the series, but the other two books are separate relationships so these can be read alone as well.

These audiobooks are not good. The speaking is sooo slow it’s uncomfortable. If I didn’t already like the story I’d hate the overall thing from the audiobook alone.

In the third installment from B.K. Borison's "Lovelight" series, we find resident baker Layla Dupree is a funk. All her best friends have found their forever people and she's struggling with her family's beliefs about her career. After a less than stellar 6 month relationship and a series of bad online dates, Layla is ready to give up. So imagine her surprise when golden boy Caleb alvarez proposes a month long practice relationship. She thinks this month is just going to show her a fun time and give her a renewed sense of what dates should be like. Too bad she's the only one who doesn't realize Caleb has had a crush on her and the monthly cake orders are not for relative's birthdays, but an excuse to see her. This month long arrangement might be more than Layla's expecting and more than Caleb can handle if it ends badly.

I have been on a cozy romance kick lately and these books are the balm my soul has needed. No life or death, end of the world situations. Just two people (and a town wide phone tree) finding their way to forever. The narrators really make this book, too. Layla's slight southern drawl is adorable and there's just something about Caleb that gives of real instead of "perfect man voice".

I have decided not to finish this series after DNFing book two because the writing style was just not for me

Oh my gosh, I just loved this book! I have been obsessed with the Lovelight series since book one, and it keeps getting better. This book was centered around baking, and I loved it! I swear I was hungry the whole time reading this book. I loved the main characters in this book. Caleb is the perfect book boyfriend, and the chemistry between him and Layla was fantastic! I also loved the twist on the fake dating trope, where they did experimental fake dating, I thought that was really fun! If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it!

Mixed Signals was, simply put, adorable. Caleb was just the absolute cutest and such a good fit for Lyla!

If you’ve read the other books in the series, you have been waiting for Caleb and Lyla’s books. Caleb with his unrequited love, Lyla, and her total obliviousness to it. Though we got glimpses of this, it was nice to get the full story, especially Caleb’s perspective. These two fit so well together that I had no problem rooting for them from the beginning.

As with most small-town romances, Mixed Signals has a full cast of side characters we know and love. The town becomes even more real to me with every book in this series!

The narrators, Pippa Jayne and Julio Maxwell, were fantastic. A perfect fit for these characters! Pippa did an excellent job portraying a sweet and sometimes anxious Lyla, and Julio was terrific as the always-steady Caleb.

Mixed Signals is the third book of the Lovelight series by B.K. Borison. I enjoyed all the books but this one is my favorite of the series. I kept smiling and laughing out loud while reading this one. I empathized with Layla and she struggles to find a good man. Caleb is a cinnamon roll charater I loved. I wish I could have found him first, or that he actually existed! He’s a perfect book boyfriend. Anyways, Layla and Caleb decide to fake date to help each other realize what they are doing wrong for dating. I highly recommend this series, you won’t regret it! The audiobooks are well done, and the narrators do an excellent job giving these characters a voice.

In this third installment at Lovelight Farms, we get Layla and Caleb's story. Layla has her bakery on the farm which her best friend, Stella, owns and operates. Caleb, a resident of the town, has been going to Layla's bakery for his fix of butter croissants and coffee on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for as long as they can remember. When Layla goes to the next town on a horrible date and bumps into Caleb celebrating his brother's birthday, everything changes. Caleb commiserates with Layla about her awful date and suggests that they fake date for a month so that they can help each other figure out their love lives. That is, until fake turns real and neither really knows when the line shifted. When the perfect month is over, Caleb wants a relationship but Layla is afraid of being hurt and pushes Caleb away until she realizes her mistake and they end up together. This was a great listen and is a wonderful series. The narrators were excellent.

Mixed Signals is the third in the Lovelight Farm series and is probably my second favorite, mainly for my love for Layla and her baking.

The narration wasn't my favorite but I still listened to it anyways. I don't feel like the male narrator really matched the character.

Regardless, this is a lovely small-town, open door romance series. I do recommend reading this series in order.

3/5⭐️

I love this author. I love this series. This was my least fave of the trio so far. I think I didn’t fully connect with Caleb, something was just missing with the character. I felt like I was only interested superficially.

I did like the narrator and will definitely pick up this author’s next book when it comes out.
