"The Dangerous One" (Osborn Brothers Book 1) by Lori Foster was a fantastic read. I loved Hunter and Jodi's story. This story was full of action, suspense, romance, twists, family, friends, entertaining characters, new beginnings, and more. This was a terrific start to this new spin-off series. We first met Jodi in the McKenzies of Ridge Trail series. I'm excited to see what happens next in this new series. Highly recommend it to all fans of romance, suspense, and series.

It's getting hard to review Lori Foster's books. Why? Because there are only so many ways to say "fantastic". I've loved every book of hers I've read, The Dangerous One included.

As always, the characters are incredibly sympathetic, unless they're the bad guys who are always loathsome. I love Jodi. She's had it so hard and she's tough and hard but she's still so dang human. She's created a thick shell, she's focused her life on being prepared for anything or anyone. She's armed to the teeth and competent in self-defense. But she's still sweet, lovable and loving. Hunter is deeply affected by events in his past too but he's mostly shut down. He's even isolating from his close knit family. Sometimes fate throws someone in your way and no matter how bad the past is, you start thinking the future might hold promise. Hunter is taken by Jodi immediately. She needs more convincing. Hunter's willing to take the slow and easy approach until she's ready for more friendship and more than friendship. He's also highly respective of her abilities and her take charge attitude while always having her back.

I loved seeing the McKenzies again and how completely they've enfolded Jodi in their family. It took a while to meet them but Hunter's family was equally as loving and supportive. And Remy! What an interesting character. So much depth and intelligence despite his questionable ethics. I look forward to learning more about him. And Hunter's brother, of course.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the ARC.

Okay Lori...
I see a potential for at least 2 more books.
Please tell me I'll get to read them.
Its been much too long, that I have gone without reading a book with this much intrigue and steam.
I do believe I will have to do another Lori Foster binge read.
Jodi was exactly as I imagined her to be and Hunter...Hunter was beyond perfect.
I was sucked in immediately and unable to put my kindle down.
Next step, print version.

I would highly recommend this book.
Happy reading!

Set in Triple Creek, Colorado this story brings together two people who crave solitude and safety. Hunter Osborn, a former park ranger who has gone through a very traumatic experience, has cut himself off from family and friends and likes his life just the way it is.
Along comes the independent Jodi Bentley, a trauma victim in her own right and the sparks start flying between the two wary neighbors. Why on earth does a woman like her want to live in the middle of nowhere and why does he feel such an overwhelming desire to watch over her? The unknown trouble waiting down the road keeps them on their toes!
This book has its fair share of suspense and action, but I felt it was mainly about the growth of the characters and I have to say, I loved every minute. The cast of characters are wonderful and I adored watching their growth through this book. I enjoy all of Lori Foster’s books but I have to say this one is a favorite! I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

This book is so good! It's book 1 in the Osborn Brothers series, but I was so delighted to see some cameos from my favorites in The McKenzies of Ridge Trail. This is Jodi story and it was awesome. I love Jodi. She's a take no prisoner attitude that catches the attention of Hunter. Hunter has moved to Ridge Trail to get away and stay by himself, but Jodi rolling into town puts a wrench in that. Trouble follows Jodi and she catches the eye of some unwanted attention. That gives this book the perfect touch of suspense. Jodi and Hunter have seen the shady underbelly if humanity. They're kindred spirts finding the healing of nature. I just loved these two together. I so loved Hunter's dog Turbo. He is quite the character. I finished this book in a day and half. I just couldn't put it down. The characters just drew me right in. This book delivers on the suspense, but also the heart and heat. There is plenty feels in this one. I loved what Hunter and Jodi found in the book. Sometimes family is the friends you meet along the way that become family. Jodi's found family is so much better than her real family. I was so happy to see Parish and the rest of the crew. I just love how they treat Jodi like one of their own. This is a must read!!

The Dangerous One is the latest release by the very talented Lori Foster. It is the first book in her brand new series called The Osborn Brothers. This series is connected to another series called McKenzies of Ridge Trail. It was great getting to visit with some of the main characters from the McKenzies of Ridge Trail again. The Dangerous One is Jodi and Hunter’s story. Jodi is new to the area, but unfortunately she grabs the attention of a very dangerous individual and quickly realizes that she has an ally in Hunter, her new neighbor, but also someone unexpected as well. The three of them work together to try to put and end to the danger with the help from some family members with some impressive skills and connections. Will they succeed before it is too late? Read The Dangerous One to find out.
It was a well written romance with some cute and funny moments thrown in and just enough action added into the mix to make it a good read that I will recommend to others.

Hunter Osborn has isolated himself from his friends and family. He left his job as a park ranger after finding a gruesome crime scene that has left him haunted with violent nightmares. Hunter lives on an isolated property and keeps his interactions with people to a minimum. Jodi Bentley is a strong, tough as nails woman who has survived her own traumatic past. With the help of the Mackenzie family, Jodi is learning to live her life on her terms. Hunter knows Jodi is trouble but finds he can't stay away. Hunter's protective instints go into overdrive when Jodi is threatened. Jodi bristles under Hunter's alphaness and wants to handle the threats on her own. Jodi and Hunter grow closer and open up to each other as they spend time together. Can Hunter keep Jodi safe as the danger to her increases? Will Jodi and Hunter let down their walls and open their hearts to each other? Will Hunter reach out to his estranged family? Can Jodi and Hunter trust a surprise ally in their quest to find out who wants to hurt Jodi? I loved The Dangerous One, the first book in the Osborn Brothers series, by Lori Foster. Jodi and Hunter are an amazing couple with great chemistry that had them burning up the sheets when they finally gave into their attraction to each other. Loved how the Mackenzies were there for Jodi whether it was furniture for her house, background check on Hunter, or tapping into her security cameras on her and Hunter's property. The Dangerous One is a fantastic start to the new Osborn Brothers series by Lori Foster. I would highly recommend getting The Dangerous One. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I wasn't sure where the story for Jodi would go, but it couldn't have been any better. I loved her & Hunter together and Turbo was an absolute whoot!

Enjoyed Memphis and can't wait to get to know him better.

I really enjoyed this story of Jodi and Hunter. Both have tortured past and both are tying to move past it. I love how both knew a kindred spirit when they met. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I was hooked from the very first chapter. I fell in love with Turbo the dog. This is a new series and I'm hooked.

This is such a fantastic book and worth re reading. I immediately felt for Jodi and how she’s overcome being a victim. Loved how the McKenzie’s looked out for her still, that she considers them family. Loved how patient Hunter is with her, that they just connect. His heart hurts for her and he’s so protective of her. They are great together. She’s trying to be an ordinary woman and he considers her extraordinary. Loved the plot and that they get a very happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Damaged, but healing describes our main characters Jodi and Hunter. Both were likeable and I found myself
rooting for them to have a happy ending, but I had a little bit of a hard time becoming invested in both of them.

I can’t quiet out my finger on what it was that kept me from falling into the story, but it consistently felt like I was looking at the characters and story through glass.

This is a classic Foster book with an alpha leading man and strong leading lady who find themselves in a bit of trouble. Previous leading characters make an appearance in secondary roles, but not knowing them will not distract from this stand alone story.

I would say this book did its job, with good characters and intrigue based plot line. There is also teasing about future roles for a few new secondary characters.

I love this group of people. I love how they support each other.

Hunter is the type of injured hero that Lori writes well. I love all the interactions and can't wait to see what is in store for his brother!

Jodi is trying to lead a normal life but when things catch up to her, her neighbor is there to help. Love hearing from Parrish and the group!

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.

Wow!! Another amazing book and the start of a new series. We do get Jodi who was in the last series. Jodi and Hunter are a vulnerable, strong and extraordinary couple. Both of them faced some horrible trauma and are trying their best to survive in daily life. Hunter has cut himself out of people's lives, Jodi is determined to be an "everyday" person. Together they are stunning. They make you smile, laugh and your heart hurts for them. I loved every word and I cannot wait until the next book.

Hunter was a mystery at first, I'd no idea what sent him to wanting a solitary life. Jodi our pocket rocker heroine comes into town, all bluster and beauty. She's bought the shack next door and invades Hunter's space. She has some major baggage of her own.
This story cruised along at a steady pace, we learn the characters and others in their lives both family and adopted family.
Something is going on with her home, hidden secrets. The like that could ruin someones life. There were nefarious goings on in this little town. Hunter is such a protector, as well as his brother and her folk. No one is going to let either of them come to harm. Though the highlight of this story is the dog,
Turbo, like something from a hick tv show.
I really liked that this story had a slow burn, an easy going feel to getting to know and trust the characters.
I kicked off with this story at the end of my Covid battle, it was an easy healing read. I can't wait to see where this author goes with these characters and this town.

Jodi needed a story. She needed a story that played to her, where she was not just a FMC, but the MC, one who had grit, determination, quirks, emotions, depth, change and determination. Yes, I said determination more than once, because Jodi has more than her fair share and she deserved to show it off, not just show up on the page, she needed to own it.

Hunter shows up and I honestly wasn’t sure what to think, he reminded me of Parrish’s sons, but still, what was his deal? Was this small town car guy going to be what she needed? And honestly what is going on in this town?!?

As the story unfolds, I have to say I truly loved both of these characters, and loved getting to revisit characters from previous stories. And sometimes, determination helps.

This was really good! Loved the plot and the characters, especially Hunter, were phenomenal. It had the romance, suspense and action that Lori is known for! I ate this up! Definitely one to check out!

THE DANGEROUS ONE is the first instalment in Lori Foster’s contemporary, adult OSBORN BROTHERS romantic suspense series-a spin off from the author’s MACKENZIES OF RIDGE TRAIL series. This is former US Park Ranger Hunter Osborn, and landscaperJodi Bentley’s story line. Jodi Bentley was first introduced in the aforementioned series.

Told from third person perspective THE DANGEROUS ONE follows the building relationship between is former US Park Ranger Hunter Osborn, and landscaper Jodi Bentley. Jodi Bentley has purchased the property and rundown house next door to former US Park Ranger Hunter Osborn. Hunter needs his privacy; the quiet of living in the country, as he continues to struggle with a devastating search and rescue, months before. Jodi Bentley’s move to Ridge Trail is predicated on her ability to protect and defend. Jodi knows that her own protection is a matter of security and the well place surveillance of family and friends but Jodi never expected to be targeted for taking possession of an abandoned cabin. With the help of Hunter Osborn, Jodi reluctantly accepts the direction of her new life going forward until a message warns Jodi that all is not well, and her life may be forfeit with a secret discovery. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jodi and Hunters, and the potential fall-out as Jodi finds herself hunted by a powerful man.

Jodi Bentley is a strong-willed, aggressive and determined heroine whose past life is dark, and has created the woman with whom Hunter will fall in love. Jodi had hoped for the peace and quiet of country living but from the outset Jodi discovers her ‘abrasive’ attitude has made a few enemies throughout the town. Hunter Osborn lives in seclusion, struggling in the wake of a heart breaking event. Meeting Jodi Bentley gives Hunter purpose, purpose that will pull together family and friends in an effort to save our heroine’s life.

The relationship between Hunter and Jodi begins as neighbors but Jodi’s first encounters with the locals finds our heroine battling with the misogynistic attitudes of the people in charge. Hunter is disheartened to discover someone has bought the place next door but is pulled into the aura that is Jodi Bentley. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are numerous and colorful. We are introduced to Hunter’s brother Memphis; businessmen Worth Linlow, and Russ King, Danny Giggs, and Remmy Gardner, as well as the cameo (via phone) of Reyes McKenzie and Kennedy Brooks (Stronger Than you Know), and Reyes’ father Parrish McKenzie. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE DANGEROUS ONE is a story of secrets and lies, power, control and manipulation, security, protection, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and enthralling; the characters are energetic and determined; the romance is seductive.

I received an electronic ARC from Harlequin Trade Publishing through NetGalley.
Foster again spins a suspenseful story with glimmers of hope throughout. Readers meet Hunter Osborn and reconnect with Jodi Bentley from The MacKenzies series. Both carry significant scars from their past and both need space to heal and figure out their futures. Hunter meets Jodi when they are both in town and both have to deal with the local jerk who is a main business owner. From this encounter, they each begin healing the other as they interact and discover they value the other. Woven throughout is a truly evil villain who wants Jodi simply because she became known to him and because he hid a "package" in her new home. We see this character and his men set up traps and interactions which are thwarted from one man within the organization and Jodi and Hunter together. The MacKenzies also make appearances via phone and video calls throughout the story, and we meet Hunter's brother Memphis halfway through. I appreciate the connections to past stories and the set up for a new novel about Memphis.
Always a joy to read a Foster and see how she balances romance, hope and danger. Readers are drawn in as part of the tale and can still be surprised by some of the twists along the way.

This was a fun spinoff from the author's previous series!

Jodi Bentley has been THROUGH IT. She was a side character in The McKenzies of Ridge Trail series, where we learned about her traumatic experiences at the hands of an evil kidnapper. She's come a long way since we first saw her, and she's moved to the outskirts of an isolated small town, to try and have a "normal life." But, Jodi could never really be just "normal."

Hunter Osborn moved to the boonies to get away from everyone, including his well-meaning family. He went through something terrible, and he still hasn't really gotten over it. When Jodi moves in nearby, he's shocked how much he doesn't mind having her around, when he's done all he could to remove himself from most people's company in the last couple years.

Hunter and Jodi have an instant connection which, given both of their pasts, is shocking to each of them. But they come to care for and rely on each other very quickly. Hunter's dog Turbo helps out with that too! They work together when it's clear that someone is after Jodi, and Hunter feels a deep desire to protect her. I loved their connection, and how surprising it was to both of them.

There's a bit of a suspense plot about the bad guys out to get Jodi, and that added to the plot. But, for a romantic suspense book that touches on very sensitive topics, the overall feel of this book, for me, was very soft, and I loved that. Jodi and Hunter are learning to live again, and trust in themselves and others again, and it was a beautiful thing watching them fall so hard for each other, while being true friends to each other at the same time.

Hunter's brother, Memphis, was a great side character, and I'm definitely excited to get his story next! We also got some peeks back at the McKenzie family, which was super fun too.

This was a nice start to a new series, and I still adore the author's voice, after reading her books over so many years!

CW: violence, death (of bad guys), mentions of human trafficking, mentions of past abuse and/or trauma to both main characters
