I seriously could not put this book down and was so sad when it ended. I devoured it, simply couldn't get enough. I am officially an Annette Lyon fan!!

I’m super late on this one 😬 But thank you to NetGalley and Scarlet Suspense/Penzler Publications for the arc!

Holy emotions, Batman! I didn’t expect this one to hit so hard, but wow! Gripping and intense, with strong characters.

I definitely wasn't expecting as many twists as there was in this book, which was a big bonus point for me! The characters were also well-written and interesting, and the change of POV kept you on the edge of your seat with every chapter - however I will say that the back and forth between present and future was a bit confusing at times. Asides from that, however, it was refreshing to read a new take on an already over-done plot, and Becca and Jenn's friendship being the focus of the novel was a relief, especially as I started to hate Rick more and more with every single line!

I loved this book, the way it was written one chapter Jenna alternating with one chapter of Becca, I couldn't put it down, I wanted to keep reading on, but not wanting it to end. Of course it was a happy ending. I would defiantly like to read more by this author

This was a really good book. It had me saying to myself, JUST ONE MORE chapter. I loved the different points of view and the alternating timelines. It was an outstanding story.

As a living librarian named Jenn, I just had to read this book about a dead librarian named Jenn! I really loved this gripping suspense thriller. Lyon expertly balances two timelines-- one leading up to Jenn's death, and one that starts with her demise. Both Jenn and Becca are whip-smart, indefatigable and intensely relatable. Don't miss this one!

Jenn and Becca have been best friends for years, close as close can be. So when Becca arrives at Jenn's home, wondering why Jenn never came to pick up her child, she's in for the devastation of her life. She finds Jenn dead, and her entire world shatters.

What Becca doesn't know is that there's something more sinister going on, and as she begins to unravel the secrets behind Jenn's death, she knows she must do everything to protect Jenn's daughter, Ivy.

I honestly thought this book was going to be predictable. It had an interesting premise, but one that I feel may have been done before. So I was in for a big surprise when I realized that this book is not what it seemed, and I found myself so sad for Jenn while pushing Becca to find out what really happened.

I kept wanting to hope against hope that maybe the book would have the happiest of endings. And while I won't spoil anything, I'll say that the ending was both disappointing and hopeful. I found myself loving Jenn and Becca's friendship so much, and it was hard to say goodbye to them when the novel was over.

Definitely a great read that's going to keep you guessing.

I would have to say this isn’t my cup of tea. I can’t understand Jenn, an intelligent librarian being so desperate as to stay with a man that is as bad as her husband is. She seems to stay because she doesn’t want to seem an idiot to her friend Becca and she is desperate for a family since she was raised in foster care.
The alternating chapters of present circumstances (Becca) and chapters filling us in on the past happenings and research (Jenn) didn’t work as a storytelling device for me.
Thanks to Netgalley for a review copy.

Just One More...

Just one more, what? Instantly I gravitated toward the mysterious title.

Annette Lyon is a best selling author, however, this was her FIRST suspense novel (you could have fooled me) . Lyon has hit the ground running with Just One More. Her writing style is truly unique and will instantly pull you right in to a different universe.

I was looking to kill an hour before having to head out with some friends for dinner.

What a fool I was to think such a thing.

Dinner plans were canceled, jeans were removed and replaced with jammies.

Just One More, had imprinted on my soul and was not going to be loosening her grip until I concluded.

This is an incredible, suspenseful thriller that will have you holding your breath and gasping at every corner.

Don't take my word for it, pick up your own copy, this one is out NOW!

If you’re looking for a domestic suspense that will give you all the emotions, look no further. This book made me sad, pissed me off, and encouraged me to be grateful for my own husband. Grateful that he is nothing like Rick. I’m sad and pissed off because there ARE men like Rick out there (and women too) who gaslight, verbally abuse, and drag their spouses to their lowest — making them feel inadequate at every moment.

This is one of those books that gets all the stars but weighs heavy on your soul. I flew through this book because I just had to know what happened! Rick is a character you’re supposed to hate so kudos to the author for that! I clearly despise this man and am SO glad he’s fictional! The friendship between Jenn and Becca MORE than makes up for how terrible Rick is. They have a truly unshakable bond which shines light on the darkness surrounding them.

Definitely add this one to your list if you’re looking for a quick and suspenseful read with a main character who will do anything to make sure the truth is discovered.

I enjoyed how the story was written. It’s no secret Jenn was killed but the way the author laid the story out was good. I love suspense books and while it took me a bit to get into this, I enjoyed the story and twists. Becca was a great character and a loyal friend. And how she put final events together was smart. Rick was awful and written well. There was a part of Becca’s POV I didn’t think was necessary to the plot but I still enjoyed the book.

This book gave me all the feels. I went from scared to angry to sad and to finish it off happy, all in a few hours. I really felt for Jenn and her situation. I've even teared up a few times.
The author did a fabulous job keeping you on your toes and making me want more. I also really enjoyed the 2 person POV. You could see something that was inevitable but the twist thrown in there was incredible. I was shocked by the direction the author took this story. I was sad and happy with the ending, as you'll understand after reading it for yourself. I highly recommend this book!

Although Annette has been writing for sometime this is her first thriller novel and I think she nailed it!

Thank you to W.W. Norton & Co and Annette Lyon for the ARC copy.

This is the story of Jenn, Becca and Rick. Jenn ends up being found dead in the bath. The author weaves a tale, you discover more and become completely intertwined within the story. I was so invested that I got through this in a flash. I'll definitely check out this author again.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

Jenn has finally met the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. They marry and then things start to slowly fall apart. Jenn is a librarian and she begins to do research on her husband. She soon discovers that he is not the man she thought. He has a horrible past and now she must protect herself and her newborn baby.

This novel kept me intrigued from start to finish. I had no idea at first what actually happened. But, as the story unfolded, I had so many emotions! I wanted to beat up her husband so badly. I also wanted to grab Jenn and shake her and say “Stand up for yourself!” So, I will say this, the ending is a bit out of character for Jenn. This just didn’t sit too well with me. She is not the same someone portrayed throughout this book! But, you read this and let me know your thoughts.

Need a good family, suspense drama…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

Jenn & Becca have been best friends for years. Their friendship has kept them going through Becca's marriage, subsequent divorce, & life as a single mum to twins. Jenn has recently given birth to her first child, Ivy, with husband, Rick. Jenn asks Becca to watch Ivy for her whilst Jenn packs ready for a trip to the lake with her husband & baby, & drops Ivy at Becca's house. When she hasn't heard from Jenn after a couple of hours, Becca texts her & tries to call her but gets no reply. Having a strange feeling about this, Becca takes Ivy home but when she gets there the house is eerily silent. Checking the property over, Becca finally finds Jenn drowned in the bath. She pulls her out & rings 911 but when the police get there, there is nothing to be done.

At first, Becca wonders if it was a home invasion gone wrong, but the police won't tell her anything. When Rick,. Jenna's husband arrives home, they are both taken to the station for questioning. Becca is soon dismissed but Rick is kept for hours & has to return the next day for further questioning, & he is weirdly reticent to take care of Ivy, so Becca ends up keeping her for now. After being asked to collect some of Jenn's belongings from her gym locker, Becca finds a notebook & is shocked by what she reads. It seems that a year or so before her death, her friend had started to look into Rick's past, & had discovered that not only was Rick not his real name, but that he had been married twice before, & that both of his previous wives had drowned.

A few chapters into this, I foresaw two possibilities as to how this was going to pan out, & it turns out option 2 was correct. Although it wasn't difficult to work how it was going to go, I found that it kept my attention well & I felt invested enough in the two leads to want to know what happened. As for Rick, he's a complete Rick with a capital D: gaslighter, liar, conman, but is he a murderer? That trail of bodies suggests he is. Although you're shouting at Jenn in your mind to just leave at the first behavioural red flags, you can kind of understand why she feels she has to stay & try to make it work. Whilst you are reading about Jenn's version of what leads up to her demise, it's always in your mind that she's running out of time - her final hours were movingly written. Overall, it's a good read but its strength is the two main characters rather than the story line. 3.5 stars (rounded up)

TW: gaslighting, toxic relationship, death of a pet (very brief)

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Penzler Publishers/Scarlet, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

I always love a thriller book, and especially love reading one of these books when the length of the novel, itself, is just the right length. Not too long and not too short. Just One More by Annette Lyon kept me hooked from start to finish and I am so appreciative of my advanced reader access. I am so thankful to the author, NetGalley, and Penzler Publishers.

When Jen is late picking up her daughter Ivy from her best friend Becca‘s house her best friend starts to worry and when she sends a text that remains unanswered she decides to go over to her house. Jen was getting her husband Rick‘s new boat ready and so Rebecca think she must’ve just got carried away but when she arrives she finds Jen dead in the bathtub. Rebecca is gutted and her heart breaks for little Ivy and Rick but soon after her death Rick is arrested. At first Rebecca thanks Rick is innocent but the more she tries to prove it the more she finds out differently. This book is toll from two POV’s one is Rebecca after finding her best friend dad in the second is Jen because soon after Jen and ricks marriage he starts gaslighting her in stories he’s told her he later says he’s never said oh doesn’t know what she’s talking about and the more Jen find out the more she Theos for her in Little Ivy. There is so much more to this book Ronaldo it is a thriller with Crime aspects it is also very witty. I love Becca and think everyone deserves a friend like her she was a great character well defined and as far as characters go she was well-rounded something you don’t always see in books. I think this author has a great talent for writing stories and I will definitely be looking for more of her books as I love her writing style her wet in the yummy tension she creates makes the one great book. I highly recommend this book if you love thrillers with a smart plot an even smarter dialogue. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I liked this book until the end.
I wondered what information would be unearthed about Rick, who is slimy and creepy.
I applaud Becca for being a loyal friend, but when she got close to Rick my skin crawled.
I didn’t like the ending because I don’t think it fits the character of Jenn.
