A very helpful guide about growing and caring for houseplants. The book is well organized from easy to hard to grow plants, which is really helpful for all levels.. The pictures are amazing and will help you pick out the plant you want to buy. The book recommends a plant and then tells you how to take care of it. The layout is well done and easy to read. My niece just moved into her first apartment and I plan to buy this book for her,

Received as an ARC from NetGalley. I'm a beginner plant mom and thoroughly enjoyed this book. The beautiful pictures and the concise basic information for a few plants. I like the fact that is not a comprehensive guide and includes every plant in existence, which would be overwhelming. It tells where the plant is from, its lighting, soil, water, and fertilizer needs and it talks about pests. The plants it focuses on are cacti, succulents, monstera, and other easier to grow plants. It also mentions diva plants such as maidenferns, string of hearts, and string of dolphins. Although the author calls them diva plants she doesn't discourage anyone from giving them a try. The book was definitely a worthwhile, informative read. ,

A very helpful introduction to houseplants that spells out exactly what each plant needs. I love the organization of the book, easy to hard, and especially the chapter on "diva plants" - I'll never buy one to those, lol.
If you know someone moving into an apartment and looking for the jungle aesthetic, this book would be the perfect gift for them to figure out what exactly will work in their space.

Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy.

I really enjoyed this book. The introduction to the book was not very long, which I appreciated. I liked how the book was separated our by different sections. I loved that each plant had a picture next to it to show readers what it looked like. Most of the houseplant books I have read did not have a position section for the plant. I think this is an amazing idea to feature in a book. The thing that spoke out to me most about this book was the information on how to take pictures of plants for social media.

As someone who lives in a climate with freezing winters, I have turned to houseplants to help keep some green presence going throughout the year even when our gardens are dormant. However, I originally jumped into this hobby with no real foundational knowledge and have tried to piece together information as I go. This has resulted in the sad deaths of many plant babies. If I had this book earlier, I could have avoided a lot of heartache!

Jade Murray tells us, "Just going out and randomly coming home with a plant you fancy does not work." This feels like a personal call-out... but she's 100% right!

Murray masterfully outlines the process of evaluating your life and space, intentionally choosing a few plants to start with, how to choose a healthy plant and how to keep your plants healthy! She even walks through specific species of plants and makes recommendations based on ease of care.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves houseplants, beginners and more experienced plant parents alike. There is so much helpful info in here from basic care to propagation, each person who reads this book is sure to walk away with a new piece of knowledge.
