I enjoyed parts of this book, but it was mostly disappointing. I really enjoyed the artwork. For some reason, even though the art styles aren’t that similar, it still gave me Proud Family vibes. Something about the art style must’ve been similar because it kept reminding me of that show! The story took me a minute to get into because I was so confused! Especially in the beginning. I eventually started to get the gist of things, but I never fully understood a lot of this book. But I enjoyed the middle of the book regardless. I enjoyed the action and I did find one of the characters to be interesting even though I don’t appreciate the fact that everyone in the story manipulated them. And I hated the way this book ended. This book had some good things about it, but more bad.

I honestly could not fully emerge myself into this. I don’t know if it was the artwork, which wasn’t that eye catchy, or just the the story telling.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
While there were elements of the supernatural, at its heart, the story was about family and acceptance. The relationship between Kelindi and Aridani was interesting and ultimately so sad.

The book is decent with a nice art style, but it took some time for me to fully engage with it. At some point, I found myself confused and hoping for more detailed explanations. Despite its fast-paced nature, it left me feeling neither impressed nor disappointed.

I had a tough time putting this graphic novel down. We see two sisters get born, and right away it looks like one day they will be a part of an important destiny. One day they learn they must take on three trials which will prove which one of them is destined to rule their people. When a winner is announced, things at this kingdom only get worse. As this tale comes to a close, someone makes a difficult choice and this kingdom will never be the same.

Description
Twin princesses Kelindi and Aridani hold the future of the Claw in their hands. Kelindi would die for peace, while Aridani has never aspired to rule. But an ancient prophecy is revealed that’ll force fate’s hand for the sisters.

HEED THE TIGER’S TONGUE, AND YOU WILL NOT BE LED ASTRAY.

Under the militant rule of The Tiger’s People, empowered by their animal familiars, the Claw is on the brink of war. At the precipice of adulthood, twin princesses Kelindi and Aridani hold the future of the Claw in their hands. Kelindi would sue for peace with The River’s People, those who were subjugated “to bring order,” while Aridani has never aspired to rule. But an ancient prophecy is revealed that’ll force fate’s hand for the sisters…

This novella is a good way to spend an afternoon in an unfamiliar space.

I'm not sure if this was based on African folklore, but it certainly gave off that vibe. It's about twin princesses who are told they have to compete for the throne, in a Kingdom that ignores its constituents. There are some logic errors and too many unexplained plot points that kept this from a higher rating. I think the art was just OK as well.

I cool story with decent graphics. I actually would have liked to get more depth and details. This story could have been a lot longer. It's fine as it is, but I would have enjoyed more

This book felt very cliché. On top of that there were so many ways the entire conflict could have been avoided. I suspect I would have liked the book more if it had more pages to flesh everything out.

The story was cool, I thought it was pretty original and I wanted to know the rest as soon as I read a page.
I just thought the ending was way too quick, and could have been more developed.
The art was also beautiful, I liked the different colors to represent the two sisters!

Perfect for fans of “children of blood and bone”.
It didn’t work out for me and I can’t really see why, the artwork was really good but something was lacking and the story. But overall it was really cool.

CW - Fire, murder, blood

This was an absoulutely fantastic graphic novel. I loved the story of these sisters, it was heartbreaking and messy but also so powerful.

This is a story of twin princesses born into prophecy. They are destined to battle for the throne to improve their kingdom.

The world and the artwork were engaging, but I found the story and characters lacking. The story was so fast-paced that it didn't leave much room for explanation or natural transition, and it often felt rushed and a little confusing. I wish there had been more discussion of the tiger folklore, the twins' powers, and the relationship between the people and the tigers. I also really disliked the ending; it left me feeling annoyed and confused.

Based on this experience, I don't think I would pick up the next in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for access to this ARC in return for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. This was a very quick but intense read that overall I enjoyed. I did find parts confusing and not well explained. I also found that because of the short legnth it moved incredibely fast, at times to the detriment of the book as things drastically changed extremely quickly at times and were not suffieciently explained. Those reasons are why I am giving this a 3.5 star rating, but overall I liked the characterizations and story line.
The art was also great and I liked that we got to see both sisters sides and the people/animals around them. I believe this is the first of several volumes so I might come back to see what happens, especially given my confusion about parts of the story, but I haven't decided because I didn't find this especially engaging.

The Tiger’s Tongue is an African inspired fantasy graphic novel about two sisters who must compete to become Queen.

I might try this author again in the future because I did enjoy some of this book and the idea of it. But the execution was lacking for me.

Thank you Mad Cave Studios and NetGalley for this arc. All opinions are my own.

This was such an interesting read and everything was well thought out. I thought I knew how it was going to go but was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. He artwork was beautiful and I can’t wait for more from this author.

THE ART! The art in this comic is absolutely gorgeous; the colors are so vibrant and every part of this comic sounds so detailed and intricate. There wasn't a slide that felt unfinished. Absolutely stunning, I cannot stress how beautiful I thought this comic was.
Overall I thought the plot was very entertaining, and I really enjoyed the princesses and the kingdom or world that they live in. This comic was energetic beautiful and very entertaining!

Twin princesses must complete three trials to determine who will be queen. Each has very different ideas of how to run the kingdom and how to deal with the rebel uprising.
