This is the first book I have read in this series but it did not detract from the storyline. A definite four star read. Plenty of suspense to keep me guessing. Well rounded characters. Would definitely read the next novel . Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Ben, Morgan and the team are still reeling over the death of their colleague Des and really could do with some down time. When Detective Morgan Brookes, now back on the team with her colleague Ben is called to a house fire. There is nothing unusual about it until they see the Lawsons still inside. They are sitting around the dinner table. Both dead from suffocation due to bags tied over their heads and one of the hands have been cut off. The scene is horrific. Ben knows Sally Lawson and wonders who would do this to them.
Yet again Morgan puts herself in danger to get to the bottom of this case and find the killer.
Their Burning graves by Helen Phifer is another fabulous edition to the Detective Morgan Brookes series. This is a tense, twisty thriller, that I devoured in one sitting. I liked the plot and the camaraderie between each character in the team. But I did miss Aunt Ettie in this episode. 5 stars from me.

I loved this book! It was so good that I had trouble putting it down.

I liked the edge of my seat suspense if she was going to put all the pieces together in time to save another family.

Highly recommend if you like procedural suspense novels. I am going to get the rest of her books.

Morgan Brookes is BACK and a brand new killer is in Rydal falls!

After a housefire catches the eye of a watchful neighbour, Morgan and the team find out there is more than just a fire - A family, all found with plastic bags over their heads and a hand chopped off!

After the funeral of Morgan and Ben's Co worker, they are thrown right back into another murder case which will have you guessing right until the very end!

I loved how A character crossover from two different series have FINALLY come together and I feel like Helen really pushed the boat out in this book! I cannot wait for more! Devoured in an unhealthy time just because of how amazing Helen is!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Still reeling from the devastating fall out from their last case, Morgan accompanies Ben to a house fire. What they find, is a family murdered. What motive could someone have for killing Sally and her family. How does Natalie fit and what is her past?

What a great story. I love how suspense is built until the big reveal right at the end. The new addition to the team to replace Des is a perfect fit!

Highly recommend! This whole series is 5 stars.

Another brilliant book from Helen Phifer. I’ve really enjoyed this series and this book was as exciting as the previous ones. Now, my fear is how long can Detective Morgan Brookes carry on as she does. Helen Phifer may be tempted to injure Morgan or worse! She’s always in the thick of things.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Morgan Brookes book 8 and this series just keeps getting better.
After the events of the last book, the team is finding their footing again when they are called to a house fire where it’s established the family that perished in the fire was murdered. Morgan sets out to figure out who did it!
Morgan seems to be finding her step, I think I only got a few grey hairs from her situation in this book!
Great series, highly recommend reading the whole series especially given this one picks up after the events in the previous book which has completely reshaped our favourite crime fighting team!

Their Burning Graves (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 8) - by Helen Phifer. Book Review - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Helen Phifer has once again outdone herself. Their Burning Graves is a magnificent book. I rarely find an author who can scare me enough to send shivers down my spine, but Phifer is a master of searing atmospheric plots. This is one of the reasons why I read everything she writes. Although this is book 8 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series, the stories can be read individually.

Synopsis:
Around the dining room table sits a young, loving family. Smoke fills the room as the large home takes on the atmosphere of a burning grave. Tied to the table, Sally and David Lawson and their young son Tim have no chance of escaping the devastation.

Detective Morgan Brookes is called to the scene of a burning house with the family still inside. As she enters the burned house and witnesses the situation, she is distraught.

The Lawson family was reported to be a model family, and nearby security cameras showed nothing unusual. Sally's silver crucifix necklace is the only clue Morgan has. According to Sally's friends, she wasn't religious. Was Sally's family judged by a psychopath?

Their Burning Graves is available on December 19th, just in time for Christmas. The book would make a great stocking stuffer for some lucky readers.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sharing this book with me. Helen Phifer's talent is boundless! I love the Morgan Brookes series and am looking forward to book 9!

I am torn with this one. It's another good installment of this series and I did enjoy it but the ending seemed unfinished. 3.5 stars for me.

Another good read in the Detective Morgan Brookes series.
When the fire service attend a burning house they find a family of three dead tied to the kitchen table.
Who would do such a thing, as the investigation takes hold there are no reasons why they should be targeted.
Is this the start of more killings ?
The pace quickly escalates as Morgan looks into the past for clues.

Another fantastic five star read from one of my favourite authors. Hooked from the first to the last page and devoured in one sitting. Another nail biting crime thriller. A house fire, a family killed in the most abhorrent way. Who is the killer and more importantly why??? For me this is the best in the Morgan Brookes series so far. Five stars, hell no an easy ten stars. This series keeps going from strength to strength and I can't wait to read more from this very talented author in one of my favourite series!!!!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

I was looking forward to this book. It could be read as a standalone but I discovered this series near the beginning and impatiently wait for the next book as soon as I've finished the current one. The characters are likeable. The plots always different. This one had a few tears in my eyes by the end. It had plenty of twists to keep me guessing (I didn't guess until it was revealed) and I found myself putting off doing things because I didn't want to stop reading!

Another thrilling book in the Morgan Brookes series (I do love these). The death of a family comes to the team while they are still reeling from Des's death but the team know they have a job to do. Morgan is shocked when she and Ben arrive at the crime scene.I have to say Helen Phifer writes a brilliant book that has you gripped from start to finish.Excellent 5*

In Their Burning Graves (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 8) by Helen Phifer, the prologue takes place in 1991 and involves a car crash. The reader doesn't know the outcome, but the story alludes to multiple deaths, in my opinion.

It's current day now, and Detective Morgan Brookes is called out to a crime scene where 3 dead bodies are found with bags over their heads and their right hands gone.

The story also takes place in the aftermath of Des's death and how each person is coping.

You know these deaths have to be tied into the prologue somehow, but you just don't know exactly what is taking place or who is involved, and I love that. As I was reading, I was like, "What, who, why? Please tell me already!!"

I loved the reference to one of the characters listening to Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series on audiobook! That is a very cool mention. This story had everything that I like in a book, well-developed and likable characters, funny banter, tension, red herrings everywhere to keep you turning the pages, and an overall good story and plot.

I would recommend this book, this series, and this author. Do yourself a favor and start from book 1. You won't be disappointed.

This is a book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. This was another great read in a series with likable characters. I look forward to the next installment.

Detective Morgan Brookes assists her boyfriend, Ben when a call comes into dispatch. A house is on fire and people are apparently trapped inside the house. Firefighters conclude that they are already dead and the fire appears to be arson. The victims are all missing their right hand. What is the killer trying to say?

Ben is upset because he knew one of the victims, Sally. Morgan will need to trace the last steps of the victims to piece together the clues in this murder. Can she solve the case in time to save another victim?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Helen Phifer for the opportunity to read an advance copy of THEIR BURNING GRAVES (Detective Morgan Brookes, Book 8). This Police Procedural was animated and suspenseful. Having not read this author before, this novel could work as a standalone, but there were two specific historical issues that would have been better if known: the story behind the downed police officer and the backstory of the previous problems with the boss. There were some potentials for supernatural experiences and the occult did play a small role in it., I found this to be a very worthwhile read and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy good Police Procedurals.

An absolutes cracking read.
If you love crime fiction it’s impossible not to connect with Morgan Brookes. As well as being a Detective she’s a crime junkie, she loves true crime documentary and reading true crime and crime fiction books. In effect she’s one of us.
This story revolves around the murder of a family
They are found following a house fire but nobody knows why they would possibly have been targeted.
As is her want Brookes goes of at a bit of a tangent in her thinking ne soon starts to build a hypothesis of why the family were killed, or more to the point what motivated the killer.
Brilliant

An interesting installment in the Morgan Brookes series. It can be read as a stand alone but it does reference previous books, a little more detail might have helped make the connection clearer. It was good, not my favorite of the series but worth the read. A family has been brutally murdered and there are lots of possibilities explored. A bit slow at times, but overall interesting. We get a bit of the killer's perspective

Helen Phifer consistently delivers.
