When reports come in of a family trapped in a burning house, Detective Morgan Brookes rushes to the scene. But as soon as she enters the ruined home, she is devastated by what she finds. Tied to the kitchen table, Sally and David Lawson, and their young son, had no chance of escaping the flames and the smoke… Such a breathtaking start…..A sensational thriller… Dark, engrossing and atmospheric… sublime tension. EXCELLENT

Helen Phifer has brought us another nail biting read with Their Burning Graves that will keep the lights on and the pages turning.

Morgan, Ben and team are back after a devastating loss in their last case.

They are determined to beat the clock as they investigate who could possibly commit such a brutal murder and eliminate an entire family.

Morgan once again is fierce, independent and thinks outside that box and as always puts herself in harms way to bring justice.

Clear your calendar when you sit down to read Their Burning Graves and hope nobody has the nerve to disturb you.

Cant wait for Morgan and Ben's next case.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a rapid read that kept me guessing.

I requested this book without hesitation or reading the blurb. I absolutely love this series. This book pulls you in from the first page, I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. Fantastic gripping gory storyline. I love all the characters and really can't wait to see what happens next.

Fairly interesting but a bit slow in the investigation. Grizzly crime to start off
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc

This is not the kind fo book you'll be finished in a few hrs! It starts off with a bang and keeps that pace the entire book. It's a little bit dark and a little bit edgy but without every being gory or going for shock value. It's so cleverly written and it's amazing how everything g false into place so clearly and easily without any plot holes or anything feeling rushed. I did feel there were a lot of characters and keeping track was a but if a challenge but for those familiar with the series, this probably won't be an issue. This was my 1st front his series and I can't wait to gi and start from the beginning and work my way though

Detective Morgan Brookes is still recovering from the last big case, when Ben receives a call about an unusual murder scene involving a woman he knew. A house fire reveals a family who have been murdered in a gruesome way. They are seated at a table suffocated with bags on their heads and their right hands missing. The team, grieving the murder of one of their own, get busy trying to solve the crime. Meanwhile, the neighbors of the deceased family seem very suspicious. In the investigation, Morgan learns that the deceased woman had reported feeling "watched," and now another woman is experiencing the same eerie sense. Can Morgan figure out the connections between the women and catch the murderer before another family loses their lives? It's a great story!

Detective Morgan Brookes is investigating one of the most heinous crimes of her career. A fire has torn through a home leaving an entire family dead; they had no hope of escape as they were bound to the chairs at the table where they were sitting. Morgan’s only clue is the crucifix around the neck of dead mother, Sally, a woman who had no religious affiliations at all. Then there are the reports that Sally confided she felt like she was being watched, and she was right. Morgan finds photos of the dead woman on a neighbor’s phone. When another woman reports she too feels like she’s being watched, Morgan’s theories threaten to crumble, as this woman has no connection to the neighbor who photographed Sally, bringing Morgan back to square one

It's always a treat to read the latest book from Helen Phifer, and my thanks go to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read an advance copy. I'm under no obligation to leave a review.
Morgan Brookes is back for another gruelling case that takes its toll on the team, coming so soon after their recent trauma. On this occasion we see a softer side to Morgan and thankfully she gets herself into less trouble than normal.
As per usual once I started reading I found it hard to put down, another great read

I so love this series. and yet again another brilliant twisty read but this one definitely creepy. Sally Lawson goes home afer a long day in the hair dressing salon that she owns she finds the house in darkness to her that very strange as when her son and husband home its always light up. she has the feeling that someone is watching her. she walks in to the house and goes to the kitchen where she finds her husband and son sat at table but dead and she is next. Detective constable Morgan Brookes gets home and her phone rings. where control have been trying to get hold of her partner Detective Ben Matthews. there is a fire on Hest bank road with a couple of Fatalities inside Ben and Morgan go there and they find Sally and her family dead inside the house and Ben knew Sally. Natalie White feels lonely her husband and daughter are never homeand her house is creeping her out she thinks haunted. Morgan and her colleagues have there hands full trying to figure out who the murderer is the hand of the lord is mighty this book will keep you guessing to the end

With their last traumatic case still fresh in their minds, Detective Morgan Brookes and her small team could do with some down time, unfortunately that's not what they get. Called to a house fire they find a family of three dead in such a way it could only be murder. The neighbours are all shocked by what's happened, but with secrets emerging could the killer be closer to home than the team had first thought?

Once again this brilliant series continues to tick all the boxes. Morgan Brookes is a great central protagonist along with boss Ben Matthews, and the continuity between current and previous storylines as always is excellently dealt with. After the traumas in book seven the follow-ups for the main and secondary protagonists was very well done and added to the realism. There were a couple of loose ends not tied neatly but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they weren't mentioned next time.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is one of my favourite series and this installment doesn't disappoint. Highly recommended.

This is one of those series i can get lost in and just keep on reading from start to finish, and each book has a touch of darkness that I love ,and this one was right on spot, it was perfect to read on a cold day while under the blankets. What can I say I love the characters, the interaction between them, I especially love how it's lime your right there beside the killer when the muder takes place .And the pacing is never off ,it's nither slow nor fast. And it makes you second guess yourself just when you think you have it figured out.

I adore Morgan Brookes, there’s no character like her. Phifer has written another amazing gem with this one.

This is one of those books that you sit to read a few chapters and end up devouring page after page until you reach the end. This is a book that has been worth the wait. Phifer is a phenomenal author and always delivers.

This opens a tad on the dark side, but I’m here gif it and I’ve loved it. Sally returns home to find husband and son attacked. Instantly, as always, Phifer has captured my attention.

I have been transported to the pages of this one with such excitement to be reunited with Morgan, Ben and the gang. They have become familiar characters who I am fond of at this point .

This is a perfectly paced read and one that doesn’t disappoint. Phifer fills the pages with so much action and unpredictability. It’s impossible to try to predict where this may go.

This is a book that has completely captured my attention and been impossible to put down. This is a phenomenon read and Phifer keeps getting better and better.

I have no hesitation in recommending this book. All of Helen’s books are brilliant. This is worthy of all the stars.

Detective Morgan and her life…friends…family…she stays with you long after the book is finished. MThis talented author has written a cannot put down novel. The characters come alive on the pages. It is like living with them and sharing their experiences…the family that is killed….the lovely elderly lady…the neighbors…secrets…the past meets the present…wrongs made right…Red Herrings…not to mention the hands…awww…the hands…Detective Morgan is an anomaly in that she seems to be able discern what is happening easier than her cohorts. She takes her life in stride, along with her job. I kept guessing who was guilty, but I did eventually figure it out. The ending…amazing…I am eager to read more books by this author. Curl up in a cozy chair…spend an afternoon with this protagonist…
