I really wanted to like this book based on the premise. It started out strong but kind of fizzled in the middle and the ending was completely unsatisfying. Told from different points of view, the book explores a serial rapist/killer and his relationship with the women in his life. It While it had the potential to be an enthralling, dark, psychological thriller, the characters felt very superficial to me. I wanted more of a deep dive into their personalities. This was definitely a slow burn with a lot of potential but for me it just fell flat.

I absolutely loved this book. It was impactful and a masterfully written thriller that leaves you questioning everything and stays on your mind for a while. Rachel's chapters were so powerful and impacted me in way I’ll never forget.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.

This was a contender for favorite book of 2023! It’s psychological suspense about a serial killer with a very different public and private persona. This story is narrated by those closest to him: the man’s 13-year-old daughter, his girlfriend—and the one victim he has spared.
This was well written, especially given that it’s a debut. It’s dark, but most of the brutality happens off the page- though you still get the sense of dread. I was left with a couple of questions- not in a bad way, but more in a way where I want to discuss the psychology behind why things happened the way they did. This is definitely an author I have my eye on!

What an interesting take on a serial killer novel to have the POVs be from the females in the MC's life. I loved this book, and the twists were very unexpected, and that is always like a breath of fresh air! This was a ton of fun! 5 stars from me!

This book was so good that I couldn’t put it down! Definitely a 4.5 out of 5! If the ending was different it would be 5 out of 5. The ending wasn’t satisfying enough.

The first time I tried reading this book, I put it down because the 2nd person POV threw me off. I am not a fan of things written in the 2nd person POV, and I was unsure if I even wanted to read this once I realized that would be the majority of the book (there are two other POVs in this book, both in 1st person). However, I did pick it up again, and I don't regret it, but I did still struggle with that aspect of the book.
This is a story about a serial killer and the woman he hasn't killed yet, as well as his teenage daughter and a woman who believes to be in love with him. It had a very interesting premise, but I think it fell a little short due to constant repetition of the same exact things happening over and over, while just made a lot of the story feel a little too boring instead of thrilling. I was curious to see how it all ended though, and this might have been rated a little higher if we got a little more at the end just in the aftermath of what happens.
Overall, it was fine, but I wish we saw a little more of an actual thriller, instead of 'Rachel' just constantly reciting her day or Emily acting like a lovestruck teenager. It might have also been nice to get Aiden's POV from time to time, because that might have helped add to the story, and we could have also gotten some more of his motivation, because honestly, his character felt so underdeveloped - we see what the town sees and we see what Rachel sees and he never really feels like a complete person.
I feel like if this is something that you think you might be interested in, check it out because you might like it more than I did, but I don't know if I will specifically be recommending it to anyone.

There are so many wonderful things I can say about this book. It was captivating and dark and thrilling in its wrongness. The story revolves around a man, his daughter, his friend, and the other woman who he has captive in his home. It really weaves a story of how the people we think we know may actually be incredibly different from who we thought they were. This book kept me wanting to find out what happens next, and I thought it was a riveting story. It wasn’t an easy subject, but it was still eerily engrossing. The only downfall for me was the ending, which I felt left me wanting and with a feeling of things being unresolved.

This was a good book! I liked seeing the story through the 3 womens eyes. There were parts that were hard to stomach based on the subject matter but overall a good book

It’s almost time to start some holiday reads but I’m still reading thrillers over here 🤷🏼♀️
Couldn’t read this fast enough! Talk about pulse pounding (I couldn’t read this one before bed!) So many things I liked about this one - 3 main POV, serial killer plot, and slow building tension. Read if you liked Local Woman Missing 📖 Make sure to check the TW for this one as there are quite a few.

Jesus Lord, the only reason I'm submitting this review is to warn people about it. From the get-go, this story is unbearable. You have been warned.

I have no idea why I waited so long to pick this title up but I’m kicking myself. While the story it tells isn’t anything new, the take on it definitely is. I couldn’t put this one down. Michallon created characters that were so realistic and relatable that she even had me empathizing with the bad guy a few times (not a great feeling lol). Finding out that English is not her first language and that this was her first foray into writing in English was shocking. Shes an amazing writer and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

60/100 or 3.00 stars
This was decent. It is definitely a read that people need to check the content warnings with before reading, There wasn’t too much that was unexpected, which made the stakes really low. Some parts felt realistic, but other parts felt unrealistic as hell.

Clémence Michallon took the classic thriller trope of an abducted woman imprisoned in a room and turned it on its head. So well-written and unpredictable with believable characters all the way through. Can't tell you how many times I screamed through the kindle, trying to warn a character not to go there. One of the best thrillers I've read in a long time!

This thriller told in multiple voices kept me on the edge of my seat the whole read. Considering you know who the bad guy is the entire novel, that is quite an accomplishment. The thrill of finding out how it will end keeps this fast paced novel going. I feel like there were a couple loose ends that could have been elaborated on a bit more at the end, but overall I really enjoyed this book.

The Quiet Tenant is a true psychological thriller. Clemence Michallon takes you into the mind of a captive in such a believable way that you are engrossed in this story. You feel yourself stepping into the shoes on the narrators - his girlfriend, his daughter and his victim. Aidan Thomas seems like such a normal, upstanding guy, even though you know from the get go that he is not you can see how those in the community perceive him that way. This book truly does explore the psychological impact of Aidan's actions and the trauma he causes.
This book was so well-written that it made me uncomfortable at points because I felt like I was in the body of his victims. It was a disconcerting experience watching what happens when a serial killer starts to unravel and his carefully projected facade starts to disappear. This is a great book for all thriller lovers.
This book comes with all the trigger warnings, please check them out prior to picking this one up. Because of the multiple POVs it can get uncomfortable at points, so if you do not like to be in that headspace then you may want to pass on this book.
I thought this book was well-written. The characters were very human and convoluted. I was a bit let down by the ending and really struggled with Emily. I will for sure read more by this author though because I think they have true talent.

This book was wild! Gave me vibes of "Room", which was another haunting story that I loved. Thank you for the ARC - I really enjoyed this one!

Do you have what it takes to survive a kidnapping? This gripping tale tells of a brave young womans time being held captive and what she went through. Finding out the person she is being held by has a deeper history than she first learned she uses her knew knowledge to her power but will it ever be enough to help her escape?

"Rule number two of staying alive in the shed: He's always right, and you're always sorry."
Wow! This was such a fast-paced thriller that incorporated multiple viewpoints and many content warnings. Please be aware of these before proceeding!
In this thriller, we have 3 points of view: The woman in the shed, Cecilia, and Emily. As you read, you attach yourself to each of these women for very different reasons. This is a great book for people that enjoy domestic thrillers, multiple viewpoints, and closed endings!
I will definitely read more by this author.
