The beautiful cover is what first drew me in to want to read this book.
Whilst I did enjoy and finish this book I did struggle to get into it. After a couple of chapters I felt that the story kept my attention better as I felt the plot was a little slow to start off with. The plot pacing did feel a little off in the middle of the book.
The story follows Altara a princess who escapes from her stepmother to an island that her mother came from. Pretending to be someone else so that no one knows who she really is and telling everyone that she has no power when in fact she has a rare gift of healing.
Altara is a strong and fierce character and isn’t afraid to say or do what she wants to get what she wants.
I enjoyed meeting the other characters and felt that they were great but did lack a little depth and backstory.
I especially loved the fact that Altara has a fated mate and how she goes from hating him to loving him by the end of the book.

This book does finish on a major cliffhanger and I look forward to seeing what happens next with this story.

Thank you to Netgalley, the authors and publishers for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a nice story about a independent and strong woman, who had to flee her town due to her stepmother. It was really nice to see that she found amazing, supportive friends. However, I kinda thought the scenes with her male genitals were weird and not really necessary. But it seemed as if it were a big part and some of the plot would have not happened without it. I am looking forward to see what happens with Altara. I wished there were more scenes between Zale and Altara, especially from Zale's POV. The ending was really nice as it is a cliffhanger, and it makes it interesting to read the next book to find out what happens with both of them.

This was just a really nice book, the characters pooped out of the story and really grabbed you! I can't wait to read more!!!

I was really drawn in by the cover and concept of this book and after a friend recommended it I thought I’d give it a go. I could not finish this book all the way to the end. The main character was obnoxious at best. Her ‘strength’ seems to come from the fact that in her eyes she can do absolutely no wrong and all she thinks about is when she’s going to be able to have sex next. I really wanted to like this book but it isn’t one that I could get on with at all.

I really liked this book's premise and the cover art was what really initially drew me in, it is a beautiful cover. Plus, it sounded like the main character was going to be fierce and a warrior, which I suppose she is. But, I could not stand the main character. I found that she used people, was selfish, and was just obnoxious. Plus, I didn't like her love interest either, he was disturbing to be with at times. I ended up DNFing the book a little less than halfway, there was just too much cringe and juvenile decisions for a book that was meant to be new adult. I skimmed through the rest and was glad that I abandoned fully reading it when I did, it would not have been worth it.

This book was a disappointment and a letdown since I had high hopes initially.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’m afraid this one was a DNF for me, which I absolutely hate doing. Even if I’m not particularly enjoying a story, I still like to finish it in order to write an honest review.

First, I have to say, the worldbuilding, the characterizations, the plot, they were all really good. Things were slow-moving at first, but it eventually picked up speed leading to a somewhat wild story. Altara is a strong female lead with quite the traumatic history, but she hasn’t let that stop her from being herself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with E. P. Bali’s style or storytelling techniques.

The problem lies in the fact that I’m not all that interested in spicy stories heavy on romance. I also greatly dislike the ‘possessive and lustful boyfriend’ stereotype since those sorts of relationships in stories tend to turn into toxic relationship standards. I also don’t do well with heavy mentions of torture. I thought I could make it through this one, but, alas, it was not to be.

All of this is really my own fault for deciding to read a NA novel, when my tastes tend to lie more in the area of YA and MG, so this is in no way reflection on the author or their material, just my own personal opinions.
This is a perfect read for those who love enemies-to-lovers, spicy romance, strong female characters, and can handle triggering content. (Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t.)

NOTE: I received a complimentary copy from NeyGalley for review purposes only. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This, sadly, was not a book for me. The story lacked a natural flow and I found it hard to get into it. There were some sexist comments and the protagonist objectified men, which I did not like at all. I had to dnf it after reading the following sentence: My magic made an attempt to go to her, but I squeezed it down more quickly than a virgin clamping her legs.

This kept me entertained and I did enjoy the story. I struggled sightly the writing, it just didn’t flow easily, but ironically is a fast read. I really enjoyed seeing a strong MC that didn’t fall too much into tropes. The world was really fun and immersive. That’s where the book’s strengths lie. I will check out the sequel at least!

I felt like this book could have been a better YA novel if they focused on a chaste romance and more of the plot.

This book just kept my interest enough for me to finish it, but I was constantly wanting to DNF it and be done with it. I just grew bored with the pacing and with how inconsistent character felt.

I doubt I’ll read the sequels, and I’ve found out that there’s a pre-series that is about the other sister, and I think if it was enforced that the reader needed to read that before this series, the plot, character, school systems and places would make so much more sense

This was a fast read for me and I enjoyed it. The adventure really pulls you in with it but the romance melts you. I loved the characters and the way they come together. This was just the right book for me.

I actually enjoyed the way the main character was described. It was refreshing and fun to get to know this character. The others in the story are also interesting, both as individuals and as a group.
The story itself is so much fun, mysterious, and obviously I have to mention the cliffhanger because - wow!
The "funny" situation the MC finds herself in was absolutely not expected, but it added... a little something to the story.
Anyway, can't wait to see what comes next!

This was an interesting title. It had everything in it I enjoy. Strong female characters, archery, powerful magic, shifters, sari’s, different races and exotic settings. Yet somehow it fell a little flat for me. The story follows a princess who escapes her home and is forced to marry a cursed ancient man. The main character Altara seems to spend of lot of the time talking about her multiple sexual exploits and it comes across as random rather than part of her character. I also think there are not enough plot details early on giving the reader a sense of confusion. I still enjoyed parts of it and maybe things will make sense with the next book. I liked the way Altara’s healing magic worked and thought it was unique. I adored the islander feel of the book and will definitely read the next book.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the author for make this eARC available.

This book was a fast, enjoyable read.

Altara was a powerful, dynamic character who's development throughout the story was so fun to read about. I loved Zale as well , though Altara will always be number one for me.

The plot was interesting as well and the twists left me absolutely shocked. The writing style was exquisite as well and I loved it.

Overall, this book was great and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

I love the gorgeous cover and wonderful world building!

I loved the romance especially. They were so great. I loved their background history and their chemistry, the love and support for one another, the angst, the push and pull, the sexual tension between them, everything was so well executed by the author. The characters were not perfect, they had their own struggles and obstacles they had to overcome before they came to the realization that they are better together than apart. I’m so happy with how everything wrapped up at the end. It was such an enjoyable book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the e copy of this book.

This is going to be a DNF for me. Seeing other reviews about a strong female fantasy character who knew what she wanted and was confident had me picking this up rather quickly, however the writing was a really hard pass for me.

From a quick perusal on goodreads, it seems like the initial chapters are slow before it picks up, but I can’t quite get past the prose that seemed rather weak. Just in those initial chapters, I got hung up on several spelling mistakes. Normally I can look past it. As an author, I get that no one is perfect (not even editors) but this time it pulled me out of a story I was already struggling to get into.

Here’s a kicker. Apparently this is a series that follows a different one, one that focuses on the other sister. I didn’t know that at the time of picking it up. Perhaps reading that series first is a requirement because I felt like the worldbuilding was a bit info dumped here and thought I was missing a whole chunk of information about the world and events almost immediately upon starting this book. I would have loved to know more about a magic that Altara describes like it’s it’s own personality and entity inside her.

I think picking up a book that says new adult and spice makes me ache for a more polished writing style but this one is not for me. Though I do love that the first chapter immediately starts with a tease of said spice, but the interactions after left me pretty confused and not really oriented in the story or giving me a clue as to what was going on.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me access this book!

This was just interesting enough for me to finish it, but frustrating enough for me to constantly want to DNF or just read the end. I enjoyed the basic plot and the characters were well fleshed-out, for the most part. I struggled, however, with the pacing of the plot and the inconsistencies with characterizations and plot points. There were multiple times where someone mentions something seemingly important, but no one talks about it or brings it up again despite it clearly being something they should talk about.

I also didn’t love that both love interests treat the opposite gender as expendable—she “doesn’t need their mind” just their body that’s interchangeable with the next cute, strong boy while he needs a “vessel” for his power (*vomit*). I didn’t get the instalust either.

I doubt I’ll read the sequels, though I did like where the author took things in the last few chapters.

I deeply enjoyed The Archer Princess! This story had a lot of lovely characters and both the pace and flow kept me interested from begining to end.
