You by Caroline Kepnes

Mia is a shy librarian, she believes that she is invisible to people and prefers to live this way coz she is used to being ignored and overlooked. However, when her friend gets her to sign up for a dating app things change.
She meets Adam who trys and insist on pushing out of her comfort zone and limits. Mia gets scared, how much she can take? Will she be able to keep him in control or will things get dangerous???

It was a good mystery but it was rather slow and not so much to my liking coz I'm not a big fan of stalking stories. However, all in all it was ok 👍🏻.
Thank you so much for @Netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of #YouLookBeautifulTonight in exchange for my honest review.

The story about Mia was so different from the books I have read by Ms Jones. This one is much more of a thriller/suspense. Mia has always felt like she is invisible. Though she has great friends like Jess and Jake, who support her as well as try to encourage her to put herself out there, she has a hard time meeting men. Adam is someone who becomes a kind of admirer of Mia. The story is well written and will keep you wanting to read more of it to find out what will happen next. Ms Jones has done a wonderful job with this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I love Lisa and her books, this is a new category for me and I was looking forward to reading this. I love the cover.

If you are looking for a suspense, dark, this is a good one. Mia is kind of invisible out in the wild, she is . She is a librarian, does not stand out and to her, this is fine. She is pushed to get out of herself and experience things. She does in signing up for a dating app. Is this more than she can handle? I felt like this was a little of a slower start for me in Lisa's books, but once I got into it, I really enjoyed this book and found it entertaining. It is sometimes hard to read an author's new books that is outside of what you are used to, however I really enjoyed this and am so thankful I had the opportunity to read this one early.

It is a suspense and a thrill, enjoy the ride!

The first chapter was gripping and had me intrigued. But the story goes back to the past and it is slow and I skimmed a lot. Though short chapters make it a quick read. Chapters in the present are interspersed with the past, but they didn’t grip me the way the first chapter did. I found Mia to be frustrating. She’s very repetitive in her thoughts. I didn’t like any of the characters. I didn’t connect at all and I wasn’t surprised by anything that happened.

A secret admirer’s devotion turns deadly in a twisting novel of psychological suspense.
I would highly recommend to family and friends. I love author’s that can describe a scene and you are immediately there, you close your eyes and you picture the scene. This author does that for me.

Twisty thriller follwoing Mia a quiet librarian who tries to always fade into the background and not get noticed. She starts to messages from a secret admirer someone who fianlly seems to see her. Her life starts to take some turns she did not expect and this admirer may not have her best intentions in mind, I really liked this novel and wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I rated this one 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. I want to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

A riveting psychological thriller. So full of intrigue, suspense, chills, and a roller coaster ride with twists and turns, that had my adrenaline surging, my heart galloping and my nerves frazzled, beyond relief, holding me captive with every, little secret, and detail, until I could finished this book. And…Wow, what an ending!

“Secrets they’re in the air burning through the sweet smell of friendship and leaving behind a bitterness I cannot quite name.”

Librarian Mia Anderson has always felt invisible by those around her. But when she starts receiving messages from Adam Roth a handsome man she meets on a dating app, that she has never met in person, she is flattered to say the least. But all too soon what seemed to be a blossoming romance takes on a disturbing quality, and people in Mia’s world start to die. Maybe being unseen was for the best?

I couldn’t put this one down!

I enjoyed the mystery that slowly opened itself up to Mia. This story includes time jumps from the past to the present but it was written in a way that I never felt confused but rather intrigued as the author gives us a piece of the puzzle a little at a time along the way. I liked that it basically starts at the end before retracing the steps that put the heroine in this situation. It really built up the anticipation for me.

There are a lot of twists and turns that left me guessing and by the time I had figured it out, the author was revealing everything. This has a slower pace to it and a bit of unbelievability but I’m a lenient reader and was fine with suspending belief when actions called for it. Overall, I found this to be an interesting read that kept me engaged from the beginning.

You Look Beautiful Tonight was my first read from author and absolutely wasn't my last.
At beginning I didnt realized that this story was about murder mystery. The writing so light and fun. I like all the characters, it is seem generic but they are easy to remember and likeable. The banters feel natural and I enjoyed how they interact with each other.

The early chapters feel like cozy romance chicklit before the mysteries slowly lurking at the pages. The pieces information and puzzles clues dropped slowly at each layer plot. The twist isnt lifechanging type but enough to make me enjoyed and intrigued enough to finished this story in one sitting.

Thank you Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for provided my copy. My thoughts and opinions always become my own.

Holy crap, okay this one… it did honestly take me a few different attempts to finally get into it, but once I did I liked it.

This is a pretty standard thriller about a stalker. Fans of the book and show series, You, May like this. If you’re looking for a psychological thriller, and enjoy these types of storylines then give it a try.

It took to long for this book to get even a little bit interesting, but even then, I didn't care about the plot. The characters were boring and terrible from the start.

You Look Beautiful Tonight is a psychological thriller by L. R Jones and centres around bookish librarian Mia Anderson who lives a small, safe life where she rarely goes out of her comfort zone. One day she receives an anonymous note telling her she looks beautiful. Rather than take it as a compliment, Mia feels uneasy and thinks she is being stalked. With the help from the Js, her two best friends Jess, a rich and beautiful writer, and Jack , a fellow geeky coworker librarian, she must navigate through her journey of self discovery while in the process keeping some secrets and lies from them. Her biggest secret is mysterious and handsome Adam who Mia connects with on a dating app and quickly changes her life from being one of invisibility to being noticed no matter what the dangerous consequences may be.

What I liked about the book:
-loved the library setting and Mia’s job as a librarian
-loved Mia’s downtown lifestyle of living in a loft above a bookstore blocks from her work where she is constantly having meals out with friends
-Nashville setting
-short chapters
-twists and build up of tension, mixed in with some red herrings

What I didn’t like about the book:
-started off really strong, love the premise but fell flat in the middle
-rushed ending which made it more implausible sounding
-would have liked more character development of Jess and more backstory
-more description of Nashville would add to story
-too much repetition of Mia feeling invisible and doubting herself

My rating: 3 out of 5

My final takeaway: The premise as well as the book started off strong but slowly became repetitive. It did redeem itself near the end but I would have loved to see more stalker notes and incidents as well as character development. As well, more descriptions of Nashville would add to the book. Overall, it was a decent read and I think fans of You would enjoy it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for this eARC.

I actually read this one a couple months ago and it is still banging around in my head. Mia is a librarian who works with her best friend on the third floor. She feels she is invisible but really she is not. She is seen by a few. There is the man on the second floor (we never find our about him), the obnoxious co-worker on the first floor who ultimately gets her promotion but wants her to do his job, and her boss who knows her strengths and cheers her on. When she starts getting notes and then packages with clothes and then murders start happening what and who is doing them? Twisty, you bet. Chilling, oh yeah! Do I want more? Please!

Ah, the humorous Papillion small town shenanigans continue in Bayou Beloved. Lexi Blake's wonderful sense of humor made this book a fabulously fun book to read. How family dynamics skew our emotions and interactions with not only our family members but those around us play a significant role in this romance. Courtroom antics, a judge who just wants to go fishing, snobbery and elitist attitudes and senior citizen exhibitionists are but a few of the components in this story. Heck, even Brian the Bandit and his thieving raccoons make another appearance.

Oh how I love Jayna Cardet and Quaid Havery! Their verbal sparring and innuendoes have Papillion's gossip central so rife with titillating bits about them it is like a runaway train. Jayna thought she'd left Papillion behind yet here she is, a disgraced big city attorney, facing her former high school crush and litigating over a cut down tree. Not only did Quaid not recognize his high school French tutor, he didn't remember her name. Oops! Just when Jayna thought her life couldn't get any worse....well it does. Fortunately Quaid comes to the rescue and they end up forming a short term partnership that benefits them both. However, although she doesn't plan on staying. He doesn’t plan on letting her go.

Jones has a really solid premise, and clearly understand what makes a thriller worthwhile. I just found this to be a bit cliché. The writing didn't feel exciting and some of the dialogue was just so unbelievable. This also moves incredibly slow, and the payoff ultimately just isn't worth it.

Pacing was off, storyline didn’t hold my attention, characters weren’t memorable. DNFd it. Not for me. But I’d still recommend you give it a shot if you like thrillers.

Mia had always felt invisible to others, until she meets Adam who wants to bring her out of her shell. Adam will do anything, even kill.

Knowing this was about a stalker, I was expecting some action and tense moments. There were a few tense moments, but other the few I felt like i was waiting for it to get going. It didn’t unravel at a pace that left me on the edge of my seat, which I would expect from the plot. It was an interesting read character wise but I could have done with a little more thrill.

“Any minute now I am certain I will be dead. This is always where the story ends. This was always going to be my ending”.

You Look Beautiful Tonight comes out 6/1.
