I really enjoyed this book and it's characters.
It can be a bit predictable, but still was a fun read!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

A great read.
Emma meet friends Jane and Lydia who work together. All of them are keeping secrets which are revealed as Emma tries to save her family dating agency through a series of Regency style events. Will they all end up with a special someone too?

Thank you to Hera books and NetGalley for this ARC xx

Now I truly wanted to love this book - I loved the regency/Jane Austen/Bridgerton theme and hoped it would be closer to ‘The Soulmate Equation’ by Christina Lauren. Unfortunately, I found it rather difficult at times to keep up the POV we were in (as it’s also written in 3rd person), and I felt like there were maybe too many people and too many backstories to cover.

Like I said loved the concept - especially with a little bit of childhood friends to lovers/second chance romance coming in. However (and this is strictly a personal thing) but I didn’t love how it was in the 3rd person. I generally prefer books that are in 1st person tense. I loved how we got to hear lots of different characters and their stories but I would’ve loved it even more if each person’s story was split into different chapters. Again these are just personal points.

This is a modern-day take on Jane Austen's Emma and regency romance/dating. The book had Bridgerton vibes, humour, comedy, romance, well written characters and an interesting plot and good development!
Highly recommended if you love everything I just said!

I liked the idea of this book. It was a cute one and the synopsis made me want to read it. But then I just got confused. Too many characters and names to keep in mind. I struggled a lot. I wasn't a fan at all...

This book was very enjoyable! I really enjoyed the writing and how the characters were written and described. I think the idea of having the book follow multiple characters was good but it wasn’t executed very well. At some parts, it was hard to keep up with whose POV it was which made certain chapters very confusing. I was expecting this to only be a romance between Emma and Tom which made it hard to keep interest in anyone that wasn’t them. I think this also made it hard to feel a connection with any of the characters and you couldn’t really see any of their relationships develop. It also took a while to get interesting which made it difficult to keep reading. Overall, I don’t think this book was bad but it would’ve been better if it was split between multiple books rather than one.

This was a fun and cozy read. It was very interesting to follow the stories of multiple characters (many which bring diversity) while they're on their journey looking for love during a Regency-inspired dating season. And as interesting as it was, it was also a bit heavy and overwhelming. There were too many couples for one book only—even more a short one—and there was a lot happening at the same time. And characters had potential, and I think it would’ve been best if the author had given each a book and focused on them properly.
Overall, it isn't terrible but it wasn't a hit for me either. And I liked the author's writing, so I will be mostly looking for whatever she brings in the future.

This book is quite unique and the premise of the story of a regency era courtship in modern times was intriguing! This book is as much about friendship as it is about romance (taken from author in the acknowledgements); this was what I most enjoyed about this book… the growing and evolving friendships of Annie, Jane & Lydia.

This story, set in London, is set with a full cast of diverse characters, who all come with their own set of grievances, but all are incredibly easy to love and laugh with.
The story follows many people and perspectives throughout the season, but honestly, because of this I felt the stories didn’t develop as much as I’d hoped and there were a fair amount of holes in everyone’s story… I was left wanting more. The beginning was a bit slow, so it took a bit for me to get into it, but I liked how the story and everything came together at the end.
I also was under the influence that we’d be getting a bigger story on Emma, the FMC, love story, but I feel it didn’t come together at all until the last 30% of the book… this made me not entirely invested in the progression, I was more interested in the secondary characters stories. I’ll be honest I was hoping for more “romance” within the book, as I found it pretty minimal
This book is a heart warming, cute and easy read, with an easy to follow along writing style!

A fun and enjoyable read by Sinclair. Lots of nods to the romance classics, clearly an expert in this field! I liked the different backgrounds/struggles of the main characters Lydia, Jane and Annie. I felt it gave the characters more depth than a lot of other romance novels and it made them feel very current and real. I was happy to have an epilogue, albeit it short one and intrigued to see how the characters get on in the Christmas sequel which I think will be a great setting. I thought the book was very on topic with the Season vibe, picking up on the Bridgerton trend as well as the post-covid dating trend of people moving away from apps to now wanting to meet people in real life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hera books for the eARC of this delightful, fresh book.

A Season for Love gives similar vibes to the “Valentines Day” and “New Years Eve” movies from the early 2000s. We’re introduced to a full cast of unique, interesting characters as they set out to find true, lasting love at Emma Love’s Season. The Season a contemporary take on the Jane Austen marriage season that reads quite like the Netflix show Bridgerton.

Emma Love, who from the blurb I had originally assumed was the FMC, is the daughter of renowned matchmaker Emma Love - yes, they share the same name - creator of the matchmaking service Love’s Love. (It’s a bit corny, I’ll give you that). She attempts to step out of her mothers shadow with the matchmaking Season to end all doubts - although it might not be the easiest decision financially.

We’re introduced to her older step brother Josh, recently divorced and yet still full of good humor. We meet three schoolmistress best friends: Lydia, Annie and Jane. Jane is Josh’s ex - but it was amicable. Annie may or may not have been in love with someone since she was in grade school. Lydia isn’t sure she believes in all this grand love hubbabaloo. We also meet Tom, a widower who is still trying to figure out which is up and which is down.

Overall, I’d give this story 3.5 stars. The first half was very hard to follow. Storylines were constantly changing and there was genuine character depth and growth throughout. For me, the last 50% really hit it out of the park. Everything was tied in a sweet, heartfelt bow and the world was righted, if just for the night.

If your a fan of the Jane Austen era, the Netflix show Bridgerton, or getting 4 HEA for the price of 1, this may just be for you.

This was a very cute rom com with surprising depth and representation. I had a hard time following the characters at first but I fell in love with all of them! If this continues to a series I would definitely keep reading. Thank you to NetGalley and Hera books for the advances copy in exchange for my honest review.

A Season for Love had a plot worth a lot. A regency-era dating event, set up by Love's Love, Emma's matchmaking business. It has space for all tropes, whether fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, childhood sweethearts, queer, or friends-with-benefits-to-lovers. You name it. The diversity was as exciting as it was an overload. I found it chaotic at times, but also so well written at other times. The diversity in the stories of Annie, Jane, Lydia and Emma was if nothing, a little lacking. By the end of the book, I felt as if everything just happened for the sake of happening, because the book was ending. There are HEAs, but it just feels hurried, since there is so much happening in the book.
I also feel as if I was misled by the synopsis, which hinted towards it being Emma's story, which it was not. Not entirely. Any book with 'rom-com' and 'laugh-out-loud' would induce the thought of it being lighthearted. But I barely had any laughs throughout the book or found it light-hearted.

One great thing about the book was the in-depth background and history. Apart from the amazing description, I couldn't find the writing very engaging. It seems to be focused more on the events rather than what the characters felt. I wasn't able to feel a lot of emotion throughout the book, which put a dampener to the overall feel of it. I wanted to feel more involved in the book, to enter the characters' minds but I just couldn't with all the jumping from one person's story to another's.

3.5/5
This was a very cozy read indeed! The concept was interesting following multiple couples as they try and find love during a Regency-inspired dating season. The characters were varied and I liked the storylines for many of them. However, I think there were too many couples for one book and the switching point of view was giving me whiplash. It seemed to be trying to fit too much in one book and the relationships would have been much deeper and dynamic had we been given individual stories for each of them. I also didn’t get the “laugh-out-loud” humor. There were some funny parts but nothing that actually made me think it was a romcom.

Thank you Net Galley and Hera Books for the ARC!

I thi k this has a good ore.ise but too much was stuffed into one book. I'm not a fan of the two person narrative so 5 is a lot. You miss a lot of character development.

All for the modern Bridgerton - I loved the series so I was immediately drawn to this book.

As far as the storyline goes, it was a little heavy. Each character had some serious things going on and there wasn't really a break from that. It was a lot to take in mentally and emotionally.

In the first half of the book, it was hard to follow all the characters because you're following the story of 5 (Emma, Josh, Annie, Lydia, and Jane) plus 3 side stories (Charlotte, Tom, and Will). This would've been a great series, each one following a different set of characters and getting snippets of the others so you see how they progress. From the authors note, it sounds like there will be another one with these characters so I'm excited to see where she takes them.

The chapters lacked the consistency I like. Some chapters were 5 pages, some were 30+. I think these could've been split up more to make the story flow better and make it a quicker read.

Overall, it wasn't a hit for me, but I liked the writing and the storyline had potential. I will be interested to see where the author takes the characters next (if at all).

A Season For Love by Ally Sinclair has an unique premise: an Jane Austin type season where singles can really get to know people instead of online dating. However, I found this book super slow. The story follows Emma Love and her brother Josh as they take over the family business of matchmaking. It also showcases three single teachers who might be looking for love.
I couldn’t get into this book at all. I didn’t connect with the characters and the plot really dragged on.

Bridgerton meets 21st century London in this matchmaking love story. At first I found it difficult to keep up with the many stories being told but this web of love became comforting and I enjoyed rooting for each individual to not only sort through their past and personal issues but grow in order to be with the one they were meant to be with.

I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am offering my honest opinion voluntarily.

This book is perfect for fans of Bridgerton and the Regency era.

This book was really engaging and had multiple POVs from really interesting and different characters. At the heart of the story, you have Emma Love who is determined to continue the success of the family business by switching up the London dating scene. All the other characters are so different and entertaining that it makes it really difficult to put the book down.

One minor thing I struggled with is how the friendship group could be so close but keep so many secrets from each other. However, it did not take away from how much I enjoyed this book.

Thank you Netgalley for accepting me to review this book.

This book has a great premise and I wanted to love it but the vast amount of POV's made it difficult to relax into. I was glad to see others felt the same way because I thought it was just me.
