This is my first book by the author and I look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own. A Pinch of love is a foodie story about the role of love in everyday meals and treats. It shows the benefits of using love to make dishes everybody loves. I absolutely love the overall theme of the book and I believe this book is the perfect read for families and bedtime stories. Recommend!

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This was a cute little story about being kind to other people, even when it's difficult. The rhyming flowed fairly well throughout, although there were a couple spots where I felt the word choice seemed a little odd just to make the rhymes work, but it wasn't particularly jarring or terribly out of place.

The illustrations were alright. They didn't really appeal to me, but I imagine a young child would be a little drawn to them.

This is a book that I wouldn't have wanted to read to my children every night, but I wouldn't have minded reading it occasionally. So overall I give A Pinch of Love 4 out of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed A Pinch of Love - a little boy and his grandma make a difference in the lives of others by being kind and sharing their baked goods and love.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this title.

The best ingredient for all recipes – a pinch of love. This one delves into the love that comes through baking, cooking, and sharing food. Bonus: It RHYMES. With sweet (no pun intended) illustrations, this story of a boy and his grandmother preparing for a neighborhood bake off will capture your heart, and remind you of the bonds, culture, and history embedded in the foods we prepare and eat together with the ones we love. A perfect children’s book for those that love to cook and “help” in the kitchen!

I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a really lovely picture book about why we need love in our lives, and how it affects us! I love the symbolism with baking and love, as well as the ways we can use both to make other people feel better and help them mend. It is also fitting that it is written as a poem, with simple rhymes that make it easy to read even for younger children.

A perfect book to read with family AND use in the classroom.

A heart-warming children's book that beautifully illustrates the idea that whatever good you do, you should do it with love. I found this book unexpectedly profound as it demonstrated how positive actions, even small ones, can draw a community of people together and give them a sense of security and well-being even in hard times. This is a valuable resource for encouraging kind and thoughtful interaction between children and their peers and families.

"If there was a recipe to make a better day, what would be the special thing
you’d add along the way?"

I finished this book in just a few minutes. It's a really short book yet a really beautiful one. In 18 pages only, the author was able to send a positive message to little kids using cute and unique illustrations: Love is the key ingredient for a better life!

This is a wonderful sequel to "Love Grows Everywhere" and is the author's second book on the subject of love. He highlights another venue where love can be transmitted... through baking, cooking and sharing food. Sounds very good ( and yummy ) to me!

A boy and his beloved grandmother team up to have a baking "date. " They are partaking in a neighbourhood bake-off in their community. The book points out how little acts of kindness can spread care and love not only from person to person but weave its way throughout an entire neighbourhood. The book is a celebration of love and its powerful impact when utilized.

Kindness can be shown in the simplest of things such as a smile or even a hug, both are free and both are priceless giveaways.

The bright detailed illustrations greatly enrich the storyline and invites the reader to celebrate too. This heartwarming book lends itself to be shared aloud and contains an important life lesson. I love the book and highly recommend it.

A child spreads love and helps his community by learning to bake cookies. In the end, the community comes together for a bake sale to raise money for a new community center. By the last page of this book I has goosebumps, which tells me its a fantastic book. Such a simple message with lyrical wording can have such a powerful impact on anyone at any age. It helps that the illustrator creates a wonderfully vivid world full of bright colors and cheerful characters.

Book review of A Pinch of Love by Barry Timms and Tisha Lee.
Children’s books that are written in rhyme verse are one of my favorites. The colorful illustrations and story shared in A Pinch of Love are wholesome.

You follow the story of a boy and his grandmother preparing to bake something. The story flows into the outside of the home where you read about how love and community can be uplifted with baked goods prepared with a pinch of love as the secret ingredient.
We know how special a home-baked good can be when made with love. This story commemorates that joy. Perfect for any celebration that we partake in that includes baking, like the Holidays or Valentine’s Day that we go all out gifting and sharing our love by cooking something to share with others.

Thank you so much Quarto Kids / Francis Lincoln Children’s and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

What a beautiful story of love and kindness. The story follows a young child with their grandma who bake things together and spread the love around their little community. I loved how heartwarming this rhyming story was, it’s so beautifully written and seeing the illustrations on the pages of the story makes it even more beautiful. The message that love is the most powerful ingredient is so sweet.

I really enjoyed reading this story it tugs at your heart from the start and shows that kindness is out there in the world and sometimes in the simplest things. Such a sweet story to read to your young ones. It was so beautifully written and I loved seeing all the little acts of kindness even down to a hug. So precious.

The story was nicely written and has a lovely moral. There is some slight rhyming which is great. I also enjoy the text in illustration, I love using these when reading stories to my class to encourage them to look to their surroundings for reading. The illustrations were phenomenally done, and lots of diversity! However there is one page where a bit of the story is on the community center and is a bit hard to see.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group -- Frances Lincoln Children's Books for accepting my request to read and review A Pinch of Love.

Author: Barry Timms
Published: 12/06/22
Genre: Children's Fiction

This lovely children's book includes bright illustrations, a fun and simple storyline, with several confidence boosting and basic humanity teaching opportunities.

The story can be read by anyone who will sit with a child. The pinch of love references what we really need. It's an ingredient when tired, disappointed, hurt and of course for celebrating and cheering up. Also, the author references bare food cupboards and times when there is nothing to be happy about.

The illustrations, a joyful reader, a snack and a willing child cooks up a magical experience.

I definitely would gift this, and add to a babysitter's arsenal.

Showing love through feeding others is embedded in so many cultures - this was a beautiful book to read. Not only does it go through the way you can make someone's day better, but it also shows how important it is to not give up & always be ready to let love in. I think this is a wonderful book for kids to get into cooking and to show them that it can be a bonding experience with other people.
