NetGalley review ARC

Interesting read, a topic I am new to so I went in open minded. This author didn't disappoint, From clearly cover history authenticity and siting sources, to de tailing everything else leaving no gaps for the reader to have questions.
It was alittle hard to follow in arc form as the author has journal prompt and thing so I look forward to seeing this in its print form.

Are able to understand what is written in the book. Author does use pagan, paganism, heathen and heathenry interchangeably. Get and introduction of what is wyrd, the fates, the importance of self-care, the liminal and other topics about wyrd.

Thanks so much NetGalley and Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. for this arc!

This was a pretty intriguing read, I loved learning the histories and theories of wyrd, even if it did get a little wordy at times. I feel like it's something you need to absorb over time, reading it in one or a few sessions gets a little overwhelming, but maybe that was just the day I was having! I'm going to keep going back to this to see if it gets more interesting after some time to take it all in.

I think it's well written but not my cup of tea as I felt there was a lot of theories, some meditations and not a lot for everyday life.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Unfortunately, I could not finish this book. The book started out strong, with the first chapter or so diving into the fascinating history of wyrd. This left me with high expectations for what followed, but I was deeply disappointed. McKernan spends a whole lot of time talking without saying much at all. Much of the book spoke in circles and lacked substance. It was also meditation after meditation after meditation, which is fine, but not the only way I want to practice. I feel like I missed something based on other reviews. Despite stopping halfway through, I did read chapter 12 on seidr, which, as a hedge witch, directly applies to my practice. While there is wonderful information in this chapter as well, accompanied by plenty of references, it wasn't enough for me to recommend the book to others.

Wow! This book by Ash McKernan is new and very well thought out. I say wow because it is insightful in a way that puts the concept of Wyrd into a series of activities that require very little material and more quality time. A series of explorations into nature and your environment begin the quest for meaning. Ash delivers with insight and obvious experience in each lesson. My favorite exercise ( and there are a lot of them) is the daily gratitude. Written in a way that made me want to give it a try. This exercise helped me to place the Wyrd concept more into focus and gave me the belief that I can affect my wyrd by my own actions in positive ways. Fate is covered in a way that actually makes sense to me. This book is well written and a guide to gnosis IMO. I have waited a lng time for a work such as this. Thank you!

I am ALWAYS saying, it’s all connected. Everything is part of the greater whole. It drives my kids nuts sometimes, but they get what I mean by it as they also say it at times.

This book was like listening to someone else not only say this to me, but having them explain their view on it and how they view the connections. It was like finding my family. And who knows, maybe I did as I come from a Germanic family who taught me a few things as well over time.

A great read for a much larger topic that makes it easier to embrace and understand.

This is a hard book for review given that the reader needs time to read, digest, review, think on, and whatnot. I like the writing style. Very inviting and will return to this book as I don't think one read-through is enough.
