I appreciated that this book didn't follow all the usual tropes and that the protagonist was a strong female who still had limitations, but those limitations weren't specific to her neurodiversity.

Finished another suspenseful book. This one would be perfect for reading in a math or science class. Parallel universes, war, and a mathematical genius. And so much to discuss and debate.

Serenity has always had a good memory and is really smart. When she was young her family was in a car accident that killed her mother. Serenity, her father and brother survived. Serenity has a very analytical mind and doesn't quite understand relationships but she knows she loves her family. Her father works for the university and frequently asks for her help with the science and math work that he is doing. She doesn't understand why and finds it exhausting and strange but does as her father asks. One day she's at the university and she can't find her father but she does find a strange black hole portal and when she steps through it she finds herself in a weird version of her universe. It takes her some time to understand where she is and she's on a mission to find her father. In the alternate universe there are duplicates of all the people she knows including herself and her father. It turns out that this world is dying due to the government and they are trying to use the portal to go to Serenity's home world to use it's resources. There is a revolutionary group led by their Serenity against her father that works for the government and they are trying to stop them.

This book was a bit complex and the humanity of the characters were very questionable. For being so smart sometimes Serenity was really stupid. sometimes some of the dystopian elements were trying too hard or didn't make sense.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
This book follows Serenity as she tries to deal with life. She can't help counting everything around her. She notices things that most people overlook. And her mind works faster than anyone she knows. Because of all of this, she has come to realize that her father is up to something strange and there are people following her. As she tries to find out what is happening, she finds herself going on a journey and coming to accept her unique talents.
I was drawn into the story by Serenity's voice. As she found herself further in trouble, I wanted to see how she would deal with everything, and I wanted things to turn out well for her. The only thing I did not like was the cliffhanger-style ending that leaves the reader deciding what Serenity chose.
This is a good book for readers who like action or mysteries.

A Measure of Serenity intense and fast past, and at some points it felt a little confusing, especially in the opening when the book first started. the middle was very fleshed out, but the end finished kind of like the beginning super fast and rushed.

I wish it had either been lengthened or turned into maybe a duology just to flesh it out more.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.

I loved this! Fast paced, interesting scenario and great characters. A little mad at the ending but that's ok! The narrator was really good.

I liked the connection between the 2 dimensions and how one affects the other. I was sad when Serenity had to chose between her mom and brother and then to find out that she was just in the other dimension being held as a hostage. This book is a great book between good and evil and I would definitely recommend to others.

A Measure of Serenity is the story of a girl who can analyze any situation and very quickly. She gets selected for a special project at Harvard and finds herself in another dimension fighting a rebellion and trying to save our world. I loved it. It felt like Fringe meets Hunger Games. It was a lot of fun to read and I am excited to get my hands on the physical copy.

4 stars.

I was able to listen to the audiobook through Netgalley for A Measure of Serenity by Bryan Prosek, Narrated by Suzanne Elise Freeman.

The cover caught my eye on NetGalley and the moment I read "parallel dimension" I was in.

This book starts out with showing how Serenity is able to make major calculations in her head. I also love how the cover shows scrambled numbers, it is a good nod to the character. Serenity is 18 years old and is on track to graduate from Harvard.

If you liked Dark Matter or A Thousand Pieces of You, I think you should try this book.

There was just a little bit of romance. The book was fast paced and would have been great with or without romance because of how much the plot kept the story moving.

First read of this book I give it 4.5/5 stars( rounding up to 5 stars). I would love to read a sequel that goes into another parallel universe, but the book does stand alone.

Thanks NetGalley and CamCat Books for letting me review this audiobook.

A Measure of Serenity is an immeasurably fun read. It has the energy of the latter books in dystopian YA series-- the interesting ines in which you learn why things are as they are and what obstacles are present in systemic change. I loved Serenity and wanted to meet her alter-ego. I have questions and predictions that I hope are answered or developed in a sequel.
Regardless, I enjoyed every aspect of this book from a smart woman protagonist overcoming personal demons to plucky side-characterswhose respect is hard-won.

A Measure of Serenity is your next high-stake sci-fi standalone. We have parallel universes, evil doppelgängers, and a touch of romance. I loved the fast paced storyline of this book. The world is interesting and the main character's mind is truly fascinating.

I highly recommend the audiobook - our narrator is perfect for capturing our main character and her interesting way of viewing the world. I found myself hooked from the start and wishing it would never end!

A Measure of Serenity is OUT NOW and newly available as an audiobook. If it's not already on your tbr, it should be!
