It was great to be back in the Ice Planet Barbarians world. I had initially read this back in 2020 and reading this special edition, nothing seemed to have changed, but the new release covers are so pretty! Of course check your triggers.

Seeing Tiffany and Salukh's relationship grow was so sweet. She needed time to continue to work through her trauma and Salukh understood and respected that. Not just through the trauma, but when others were being on-top-of-her all the time. He never wanted to seem overbearing and ultimately just lives to make her happy. You can tell he feels honored that she let's him be a part of his life.

I have a feeling I'm going to quickly dive back into this series. I understand there's 20+?? I never completed, but this brought me back into it.

I really enjoy the Ice Planet Barbarians series and this installment was no exception! I really liked Tiffany and Salukh's love story. I appreciate that all of the stories are short, quick, and engaging reads! I also appreciated that, since I read the previous book a few months ago, there wasn't a lot of complicated plots and information that I had to remember before driving into Barbarian's Prize. A great book to get you out of a reading slump - easy to read and easy to get into. And obviously lots of spice and fated mates. I will note a trigger warning: rape (and PTSD).

Spicy spicy spicy, and oh my goodness can I just say that these covers are to die for. Seriously every single one is so cute.

This series only gets better and I loved watching Tiffany on her journey to overcome her past. I adore Salukh and his pursuit of winning Tiffany's heart, instead of joining the rest of the blue crew in a solely physical pursuit.

What started out as giving a TT sensation a shot, turned into an obsession that I can't get enough of. I save them for when I need something to get me out of a funk, cuz I know IPB will always do the trick.

This series has an extreme. Let me tell you extreme chokehold on myself. Every time I think I’ve gotten this universe out of my system each book shows me just why this is not true. Every story is better than the last, and the same can be said for this book Barbarian’s Prize. It starts with Tiffany our protagonist, whom we know from the previous books is going through her own trauma, but is still well liked by everyone in the tribe Salukh is such a determined, cinnamon hero. He is not ready to let go of Tiffany, even though she keeps telling him that they’re friends, he’s determined to sink his teeth into her for lack of a better term, their relationship seems so genuine to me it’s the most realistic progression in the whole series. Salukh’s patience in wooing her just makes us fall in love with him more. And when she finally falls in love, like many friends to lovers often do it’s sweet, and tender with their genuine friendship at the
root of it. I will never not stop reading these books and thank you Netgalley for allowing me opportunities to pre-read one of my favorite series of the year.

Another great installment in a very fun series. I love the friends-to-lovers aspect and just really liked Tiffany and Salukh's relationship.

Also, gorgeous cover, as usual.

I really think Ruby Dixon hit her stride in this series with 'Barbarian's Prize'. It's one of my favorites in the Ice Planet Barbarian's series because the tone is just that much different than the previous ones. Salukh and Tiffany are more of a slow burn (at least as much a slow burn can be in the IPB universe) with a lot of conversation and relationship negotiation. There's plenty of silly bits with the courting games that turn into serious discussions between our leads and the other characters about consent and communication. But it's still IPB so there's plenty of sexual tension and steamy scenes!

Also, the new release cover is gorgeous!

I've been a fan of the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon for a while and enjoyed this special edition. The story itself is really well done and I loved the novella, it was what I was hoping for and enjoyed the concept. It was what I was hoping for and am glad I got to read this Special edition of this book.

"It is true that I am the luckiest of males when it comes to mates. Tee-fah-nee is full of beauty and spirit. She is clever and brave. But I also know that she is a perfectionist who does not like things when they do not meet her standards."

While there are slight spoilers for earlier books this one can be enjoyed entirely as a standalone.

CW: sexual assault (past), kidnapping (past), PTSD, death of parents (past)

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f scifi romance
-sex pact
-sex education
-a simp of an alien
-he falls first and hard

I adore this series and how it is consistently feeding me the escapism I need in my life. Tiffany and Salukh were such a wonderful match for each other. Tiffany had a lot of trauma, still reeling from sexual assault and wanting to deal with it in her own way. And what better way than that is to have a sex pact with the blue aline who has fallen for you?

Salukh was such a simp, living to make Tiffany happy. He was so soft, so gentle with her and just so clearly cared for her and gone on her. I loved their exploration of intimacy and the contrast of how she knew more about sex than he did and he just wanted to get her off no matter what in whatever way she needed. He never pushed her, rushed her and was just constantly checking in with her.

And now I'm rabidly waiting for Josie's HEA.

Steam: 4
