Very, very funny book of letters to a British newspaper. I have long felt that ordinary folks are much more witty than many comedy writers, and this book proves my point. The letters are brief, pithy, sometimes day, and frequently acerbic. What more could you want? This year was my first trip across the pond (finally) and I think I enjoyed the book even more having spent a bit of time in London and a few other cities in the UK. I really enjoyed this book, it was a great, relaxing read. Warning: The more you know about the UK and their politics, the better the book is. But there is plenty to enjoy. And, I don't know of a paper in the US that prints letters similar to these. So, this book allowed me to indulge in pleasures of provocative and sanguine letters. Very British book. Which is a good think.
This, for me, is the best bit of the telegraph, and the bit I missed most when I cancelled my subscription, so I was delighted to be and to read the sarcastic, hilarious, and just plain ridiculous comments of the readers. This makes a good coffee table book you can just pick up whenever you have a few minutes
