I really wanted to love this book because I am a big fan of Don Quixote. However, I really struggled with this novel. Silva is really a passive character. I could not connect with her on an emotional level. She felt very distant and one-dimensional. I also thought that this book was very repetitive and drawn out. There should have been more scenes cut out. It would have been more enjoyable novel. Overall, this novel had potential but it fell flat. Nevertheless, I recommend this for those who are interested in the romances of famous writers! This novel is perfect for fans of Muse!

This is an interesting tale of fictional history for the inspiration of Dulcinea in Miguel Cervantes' Don Quixote. It tells the fictional story of the muse for Dulcinea. It notes how the publishing of Don Quixote upends Dolça's life in an engaging format.

An impressively well-researched book, which doesn't quite line up with its description. According to its back cover, this book is "The Book of Longings Meets Ahab's Wife and the Work of Geraldine Brooks in Dulcinea, Ana Veciana-Suarez's beautiful homage to Don Quixote." It really felt more like a Don Quixote fan fiction creation written with erotic prose.

All in all, not a bad book to stumble across, but not have the flavor or experience of what I thought I would be getting. Rather like ordering German chocolate cake and receiving strawberry cheesecake. If you are interested in the back cover description, you will not find that tale between the pages of the book. If you are looking for a Spanish romance with a feminist twist where characters from Don Quixote pop in and out, this is the story for you.

Thank you, NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the digital arc for this book in return for an honest review.

I found it enjoyable. Those who like historical fiction/retellings will also enjoy it. Familiarity with Don Quixote would be very beneficial when reading this novel.

This was a fun read, the first thing that drew me in was the beautiful cover. After reading the first chapter, I just couldn't stop. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
