Just when you think you have read the best book in the series, the author once again comes up with another fabulous read to take that spot. Payback is brutal and so deviously twisted and if you have been following the series then you will be aware of the main characters of Sam and Seb.

Sam has arranged for her mum to go into rehab and Seb is trying to get his money together to rebuild his club. Together they are the golden couple, but the last book showed their weaknesses and left them vulnerable. Still coming to terms with what they have lost and the people that have appeared from their pasts, they still have some work to do. This is where the title is, once again, ideal for this book as it is about Payback.

I do like the combination of Seb and Sam, they are a good couple and she has proven herself tough enough to stand up to Seb and his men. Seb works on the wrong side of the law, having a detective on the payroll is advantageous, but sometimes things still work against you.

The book is brutal at times as the author brings the world of gangland crime to the forefront. Family is important and so is the respect that their names bring. Not everyone respects the name though and this is where the tensions are evident as well as people wanting their part of the pie. The only thing is with these people, they will want to take what they can.

The danger is once again apparent from the outset, the deceiving and conniving that the characters deal with is great. It meant I was kept constantly page-turning to find out if plans would work or if they would go awry. As we all know even the best-laid plans usually have some sort of kink, in the world of Sam and Seb though this kink could mean death.

If you are a fan of gritty gangland crime that has a fabulous ongoing story then this is a series you should have on your radar. There is mayhem, murder and brilliant characters so keep you on your toes. While this is about crime there is also a strong family bond within this series and this is something that I have been enjoying. Another brilliant book in the series and another one I would definitely recommend.

This is another very good, gritty gangland thriller from the author. With Seb's casino business now in ruins, his girlfriend Sam knows he will stop at nothing to gain revenge for his family, but at what cost to their relationship. The characters are well drawn, the plotting is excellent and there is plenty action throughout the book. I loved the twist at the end, which leaves it open for a continuation, and I look forward to the next read. If you like gangland thrillers, this is one for you. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I would like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Payback’ by Edie Baylis in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Gangster Seb Stoker and his twin brothers Andrew and Neil plan to get back their lost money to pay for the rebuilding of the casino that’s been burnt to the ground. Seb wants to make Tom Bedworth sorry for crossing him and knows just how to unleash his vengeance but his fiancée Sam Reynold wants to get to Tom first to inflict her own justice for all he’s put her mother and herself through.

I hadn’t realised ‘Payback’ was the fourth book in the Allegiance Series following ‘Takeover’, ‘Fallout’ and ‘Vendetta’ as I soon became confused with all the characters and the parts they play in the story. But despite my lack of background, this is a gritty fast-paced gangland thriller that can be read alone and begins on page one with the Stoker brothers wreaking vengeance on a person who’s crossed them. There’s a lot of gratuitous violence and bloodshed involved but what shines out in particular is Seb’s love for Sam and that he’ll do anything to protect her. I’ll now get hold of the previous three books so I can read about the Stokers from the beginning.

Thanks again to Edie Baylis for another fantastic read. I was totally gripped from page one with this latest instalment about Sam Reynold and Seb Stoker. Gritty and definitely not for the feint hearted this hits the ground running from the start and doesn’t let up until the end. The storyline is so intense and the characters are so descriptive you feel that they are real. I love Edie’s style of writing and can’t wait to see what happens next. This is gangland at its best. Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Ah time to meet up with Sam and the Stoker brothers again. The brothers had more than one reason for taking revenge and they will not hesitate to go after those who did them wrong. They have to find out who is behind all their troubles. Seb is most determined to make them pay and little by little, some details are being revealed sending Seb on the warpath. But he is not the only one. Others are trying to get the upper hand too. Without knowing it, they even help the Stoker brothers even though they would have loved to take the matter in their own hands.

Some think they can run. Some think they can hide The truth is the Seb, his brothers and Samantha will find you and once they get their hands on you, they are like dogs with bones. They follow their noses. They catch you, bury their teeth in you. There is no mercy and don't stop until the last breath has left your body. They don't loose any sleep over it. They shower and change and sleep like babies. The firms protect what is theirs and as long as everybody leaves them be, they will let you be too.

If you are loyal to them though, you will find they are the best bosses in the world. They will protect you as well and when you help them, they show you gratitude.

What would you do when you are Seb Stoker and time is running out? You need money to build up your casino again. You have an account you need to settle and whilst doing that it brings you the much needed funds. Talking about killing two birds (or maybe even a few more ;) ) with one stone.

I loved this book. There a quite a few people who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but they make these stories perfect.

Another great story in this amazing series. 5 stars

Thank you

was a little lost as I started reading Payback and found I needed to get into the swing of things.

The plot, characters, action, and romance work well in this story. It doesn't stand out in the romantic suspense that I have read in the last year but it's not a back read either.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of Edie Baylis PayBack.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

This is a great read and an excellent addition to the series. It is written well, has a good plot line and I loved the many story threads that all come together at the end of the book and I thought the ending sets up the next book perfectly. Sam and Seb are reeling after the fire and the theft of their money and will do anything to get it back and make those responsible pay. As always there are characters I either loved or loathed and I can’t wait for the one I hate to be found out and get their comeuppance. I liked that certain characters who hadn’t featured much at all in previous books played a bigger part in the story here. I also enjoyed getting to know some new ones, even if I didn’t like them and thought their introduction added more depth to the story making this a very engaging and entertaining read. Overall a very good read, and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for her characters in the next book. If you like thrillers you’ll enjoy this book and series although I’d recommend you read the books in order if you’re new to Edie Baylis as an author.

It had a great concept and did what I was hoping for from the description. It was so well written and I was invested in what was going on. The characters were what I was hoping for and I was glad I got to read this universe again.
