This is a cute, opposites attract, whimsical romance that is as cute as its cover. I loved Trixie and Bear, and I definitely laughed aloud on more than one occasion. Trixie saves a chicken crossing the road (lol) and decides to take care of it in her new apartment without telling her roommate (oops).

I love how Bear and Trixie slowly get to know each other and both fall in love with Chick-Chick (I mean who wouldn’t? Best character in the book!).

I happened to read the 'hard copy' of this and I loved the audiobook so much more. What reads as quirky on the page came to LIFE via the narration. This would make for an incredible movie! Loved the setting, too!

This is the funniest meet cute I think you will ever read. Honestly this cover tells it all. Girl chases chicken, chicken runs into road, boy almost runs girl and chicken over, boy helps wrangle chicken, boy and girl end up sharing and apartment together and living with said chicken.

Truly this is adorable. Forced Proximity to the max. Great adorable flirting. All the things you want.

While there are definitely points in this book that seem a bit unbelievable you can’t deny the fun factor.

This was my first Kelly Ohlert's book. Trixie and Bear's story is cute, sweet, funny, and heartwarming. Stefanie Kay and Paul Heitsch did a great job bringing this story to life. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, a Dreamscape Media Audio production, for an honest review.

When she spies a chicken in the middle of a Chicago street, Trixie impulsively jumps out of her car and takes it. Too bad her building has a no pet rule, and when her landlord catches her trying to smuggle in yet another animal, Trixie is left needing to find another place to live. Bear’s sisters are worried about his lack of socialization, even though he is happy with his quiet life. When they post an ad renting out his spare bedroom without his permission, Bear finds himself agreeing to let Trixie move in, even though it will disrupt his life. The two struggle to keep things platonic, fighting the attraction they feel for each other. Can they work through their baggage and find happiness with each other?

The characters were a little too over the top for me in this romcom. It was an entertaining story, though I kept wishing that the main characters would just talk to each other, already. Stefanie Kay & Paul Heitsch did a nice job narrating the audiobook. This was not a bad book, but there are others out there that are better.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Delightfully earnest animal lover meets perpetual bachelor who watched her save a chicken from a busy street - the why of the chicken crossing the road isn’t answered, so don’t hold your breath!

I thought the romance between Trixie and Bear was sweet, and I loved the connection that they each developed with Chick Chick.

The meddling sisters were a definite highlight for me, and I loved how much they cared for Bear and each other.

This was a dual POV with two narrators, which is always a treat! Not my favourite, but still enjoyable!

I didn’t need sooo much about the chickens? It kind of took over the whole story line, which sure the title gives that vibe but it was too much for what could’ve been a decent romcom

3.5 rounded up. This was a cute story of forced proximity romance. It was a regular romance with the only notable difference being a chicken – but asides from that, it felt like a not so memorable story. A reliable romance if that's what you're looking for though!

With some good character development, I still wanted more from the two main characters. After about 67% of the audiobook, I knew how the rest of the story was going to play out. It felt the end dragged on a bit.

From the beginning, this book was so cute and funny. Bear was shy and burly and as soft as a cinnamon roll. Trixie was positive, caring, and quirky. While there is some sexual tension and innuendo, this is a closed door rom-com. These two were so cute being homebodies and were both dealing with some family toxicity from growing up, which does play a role in getting together. There were times I literally laughed out loud and swooned at their sweet moments. Chick chick stole the show though!

Holy hotness. Trixie and Bear really had some steaminess coming through. When Trixie needs a place to live and gets introduced to bear things start to get steamy while trying to nurse a chicken back to life. (Yes, Chicken)
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

This one was not for me. The writing was decent and the narrator was fine, but the storyline was not something I vibed with. It was a perfectly okay story, just not for me.

This was a fun, clean romance that was very unique when it comes to romance and with unique names. Trixie and Bear meet when Trixie decides to slam on her brakes and get out of her car in the middle of the city all to help a chicken and drove off. I did enjoy this book but I didn't love it b/c this one has alot of miscommunications and I really struggle with that trope. When are authors going to realize its not a popular trope? But nonetheless, I would still recommend to others if they are looking for a light and clean romance read.

To Get to the Other Side by Kelly Ohlert was a funny and entertaining romance. Trixie and Bear were the best. Trixie must find a new place to live after her landlord kicks her out because she's caring for a sick chicken she saved from crossing the road. She answers the add Bear's family places for him to get a roommate. There are many ups and downs between Bear, Trixie, and Miss Chick Chick (the chicken). Bear and his family dynamics were my favorites.

This book made my heart smile. I loved that we had flawed characters, and I love that the book centered around the age old question of "why did the chicken cross the road". I laughed, I cried, and I truly felt for the characters. Trixie and Bear made audible "aww"s come out of my mouth, and I just couldn't wait to see where they would go. I went into this expecting a happily ever after, and that was exactly what I got.

Quite an enjoyable read!
Loved having dual pov with two narrators.
I especially loved having Bear’s pov for his feelings towards Trixie.. I liked his meddling sisters and who could not love Chick Chick.

This book was a sweet little rom-com. I found the characters to be absolutely. adorable. This was such a light hearted fun read. I hope to read other books by this author

I started off enjoying this book but did find it a little wanting. I wanted more chemistry between the characters and more growth and development. It felt a little forced and the characters remained surface level when by the end I should have been really rooting for them, both as individuals and as a couple.
Ohlert has a writing style that focuses telling and I'm rather fond of the 'showing' writing style so this may just be a personal reading preference. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon but I'm not sure I'd recommend the book to anyone either.

I WANTED to like this book. I really did. This wasn’t BAD. But, in my opinion, it wasn’t good either.

There are so many cliches in here, it’s exhausting. Like, OF COURSE she’s beautiful and quirky and he finds every stupid thing she does endearing. Of COURSE hes her exact opposite and she finds him to be her perfect match. In reality, Trixie is a woman who tries too hard to be likeable because her parents were hard on her as a kid/teenager, and Bear has ZERO personality aside from being a big, tall man who grunts sometimes.

I wish I knew this was a “not-like-the-other-girls,” trope. Had I known, I would have skipped this.

This was a slow start but ended up being very good. I would consider this entry level spice, nothing graphic but definitely there. I felt like Trixies character did not grow as much personally as I would like, by the end she was still the same just able to dance again. While Bear essentially accepted himself and changed everything.
