I received the audiobook but was never able to download the ARC on the App. I had to wait to borrow the book from the library.

I’m not sure Olivie Blake is an author I vibe with.

I had a hard time getting through this story.

I’m sure it is great for some readers. Just not me.

I enjoyed this story and found it so different than anything I’ve read before. The writing is lyrical and the narration was done really well.

Wow, I read and listened to this book a while back and missed reviewing on here! I loved this book! Olivie Blake is a genius!

I expected to really appreciate this book given my own personal connection with the content, but instead I couldn't figure out what was going on and quickly lost interest.

I tried to get into this story, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Even though the audio was entertaining with a cast of narrators, the story and characters didn’t keep my interest beyond the first few parts. Look forward to the next novel from Olivia Blake

Here are some things I think you need to know before you start Alone with you in the ether.
1. This is not the Atlas Six.
2. This book is about mental illness and depression and dealing with those and still finding love.
3. You're probably going to keep waiting for something big to happen, and nothing big is going to happen.
4. The writing is beautiful, but it's a little chaotic and it's not going to work for everyone.

This book is like if John Green wrote and adult book about mental illness and depression. This book is for people who watched Mad Love but were hoping for a better ending. This is a book for people who love to pull quotes out of books. This book is for people who understand that love isn't the answer for people with mental illness and depression, but that those people still deserve love, and sometimes for some people, it ends up working.

I listened to AWYITE on audiobook and I highly recommend it. There were multiple narrators that did a fantastic job. The way they layered the narrations on top of each other was really unique and nothing that I've heard before.

A painfully beautiful love stories about two broken people who find each other and love each other in spite of their broken edges. It made my heart swell and I’ve never found hand holding so sensual and passionate.

It’s a love story in its truest form. The audiobook adds an extra dimension that you can’t find in the physical copy. Highly recommend

DNF around 50%. I could not get into this book. The narration was great but the book seemed to really drag on and I was constantly very confused as to what was going on. It seemed like everything jumped around a lot and I never fully knew anything. The characters were a little bland and just not interesting to read about

I started listening to this book and thought to myself, "Am I going to make it through this?" That doubt turned around at about the 15% mark. After that, I couldn't devour this story fast enough. It's a modern love story that it wonderful and sad and tragic and heartwarming and romantic and all the things!

Following two characters that aren't particularly likable, we get a glimpse at a love that isn't typical. We hear about it in flowery twisted prose that needs the reader to be a participant in deciphering the truth for ourselves. I felt like I was a character in this story and continually reevaluated how I wanted the love story to end.

The narration was perfect, with a cast of voices that lent to the drama without distracting from the sweet interwoven tale.

I’ll be honest and say this book took me. While to get into but boy was it worth it! The characters are so relatable and the story beautifully written. Regan was my favorite character by far!

Dnf at 67% I wanted to like this book. Based on the cover, the author, the character Aldo. But I almost dnf-ed it within 10% but I gave it chance after chance. I just really did not enjoy it. It confused me. For the audiobook, it is a full cast but it’s so confusing how it’s done. A narrator for the whole book and then a narrator for each character (Aldo and Regan) and then a voice for each of them to Aldo and Rachel. But then there were some of their voices in there too that I didn’t understand why they were different narrators. It was just too much and because of that it was confusing and distracting. There were a couple points that were creatively down like when Regan hears her mother’s critical voice (done in a different narration) in her mind and then it becomes her own voice (and her own narration) symbolizing how that voice had become her own thoughts about herself.
I relate to that.
But that was once.
I also loved in the storyline how Aldo and Regan meet and get to know each other in 6 conversations topped off by what they learned about each other in each talk. So cute. But once that was done, I liked Regan just about as much as in the beginning (could not stand her). Also is really the saving grace of the story (he reminds me of a John Green character) and still not enough for me to finish it.

This book fell somewhere between I wish I loved it more and I can't wait to read it again in a new season of life because I know that I'll come away with a completely different understanding.

Narration: This is a full cast narration and is an experience. Highly recommend checking it out.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio and Netgalley for my copy to review.

It took me a while to finish this one. It couldn’t hold my attention, as well as I had hoped. I actually did enjoy the stream of consciousness for the most part, however, I continue to zone out, sometimes, even though the audiobook was really well done. That was my biggest issue with the book. Other than that, I found the characters, enjoyable, and realistic. Sometimes they were not likable, but that’s normal — sometimes we don’t like people, and sometimes we like them. Overall, I enjoyed them, and I found this to be a pretty solid read.

It took me a while to get into this book but once I did it was almost impossible to put down. I finished it in two days and haven't stopped thinking about it.

This is a love story unlike any other love story you have read before. The characters are flawed, complex, and messy - and I loved every minute of it. Olivie's writing is beautiful and felt poetic at times.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a minute to get into this book. The first 20% or so is just introducing you to these two characters that you don't really like very much and it's a little hard to stay invested- or at least it was for me.

But something magical happens pretty quickly after the 20% mark and the prose captivates you in such a way that you don't even realize that you are now fully invested in how these two characters are orbiting one another. Don't come to this book looking for relatable characters or a good fun happy time. If you do relate to them it'll probably be sad and you go through a lot with these two individually and as a couple but Olivie Blake turns it into a pretty magical journey. The way she describes love is captivating, gut wrenching and thought provoking. By the end of it I wasn't sure that I would ever want a love that explosive even for the sake of the good parts. It all seemed so hard. The author also wove in some messages about her relationship to medication for a mental disorder that she also has and while I usually skip this part; I didn't really start crying until her acknowledgements. You can tell very clearly that this is a very personal book from someone who has a truly captivating mastery of the English language.

I've seen a lot of feedback on this book saying it's pretentious and I think that would make Olivie proud. These aren't supposed to be relatable characters and I think that juxtaposes really well with how beautifully broken their relationship is written. You don't even necessarily root for their relationship but somehow by the end of it- you are rooting for the characters to be happy. The more I think about this book the deeper I analyze it and the more I discover. It's not an easy read but it is a thought provoking one.

I wouldn't even criticize the slow start since that is so important to the story overall. This was a perfect read for me.

Since this ARC is an audiobook I have to mention how impressive the production is. I liked the use of the different voices from the start but it truly moved me when it was used as a device to show Regan's mother's voice in her head along with her own. I've never heard an audiobook do that and it added such a deep level to the feeling of the book. You felt the confusion/overwhelming in Regan's head for a little while and it helped understand her.

I am so endlessly impressed with this book- the production and the writing. Also the voices fit the characters really well.

this is a love story, but one like i’ve never read before.

it’s difficult for me to put my thoughts into words as this book made me feel SO much but i can safely say: this is a story i will think about for a long, long time. from it’s deeply complex characters, to their relationship to each other. from olivie blake’s beautiful writing, to the love that was put into it.

there will always be a place in my heart for regan and aldo.

thank you macmillan audio and netgalley for providing me of an audiobook arc in exchange for a honest review.

Olivie Blake is a creative wonder as an author! I really wanted to love this audiobook, but I found it hard to follow audibly. I wonder if this is a book better read? Maybe it was just me, or the narrators, but I could not get into it.

I liked how unique this book was. The perspectives of both characters drew me in but I found that the middle of the storyline dragged a little. I enjoyed this listen but will only recommend it to a very specific kind of person.

5 stars! -- Obviously I have read and loved this book for years now (the self published version) and I’m so excited that Olivie’s back catalog of books are getting audiobooks along with their traditional re-publishing. I loved every minute of this. The story I connected with so much is now one I can listen to, AND it has such an array of narrators, all of whom were really good at bringing this to life for me again. I just can’t recommend Olivie’s work enough, so give this one a listen if you’re into: art, Chicago, art museums, flawed people, and thought provoking conversations about bees and, well, everything else.

Thank you to @netgalley and the publishers for the early access to this audiobook. This did not affect my review in any way. (I got the chance to get an audiobook advanced copy but forgot to post my review… the end of last year was rough for me y’all!)
