This is the second in a series featuring Rachel Krull, a true crime podcaster. This one involves a potential serial killer, social media influencers (I hate them), their followers, and a missing woman. Throw in the FBI who are asking for Rachel’s help and you have an interesting story! I look forward to more with Rachel. Many thanks to the publisher, the author, and #NetGalley for my copy of Dark Corners.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and the author Megan Goldin for granting me an ARC in return for my honest opinions.

I have been waiting and waiting for the book. It is the second in a series. The first book is The Night Swim. If you haven't read the first book, it is a must read.

I absolutely loved this book, probably more than the first which is dating a lot because the first book was awesome!

I was engrossed with this book from start to finish and did not figure out the mystery until the very end.

Full of thrilling plot twists and turns.

Recommend.

This is the second book I’ve read of Megan Goldin and this one did not disappoint!
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for the opportunity to read this one early for a honest review!
Rachel Krall #2 second in the series with the first being night swim.
Fast read which definitely kept me guessing until the end! I can never turn down a good book! And I’ll definitely be on the look out for more in this series.
Five stars ⭐️

The Night Swim was one of my favourites so I wanted to love this one so bad. The mystery was just meh (though I did appreciate the 'twist' at the end), and I don't seem to remember Rachel Krall being so insufferable?! She was rude, condescending and a smart ass. I don't know if I'd read another book with Rachel as a protagonist. She just seemed so different from TNS.

Wow! Megan Goldin does it again! This had every element of a great thriller. Super exciting and engaging. Perfect characters! Such a great read.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

Dark Corners is the second book in a series about Rachel Krall, a true crime podcaster. Rachel has been summoned to Florida by the FBI to help find a missing social media influencer. I enjoyed the story, which moved right along, but found the writing a bit clunky and overly expository. Rachel was an interesting character, and the ending was great--did not see it coming. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's for the ARC!

Because I'd read "The Night Swim" and "Stay Awake" by Megan Goldin, I was excited to receive an advance reader's copy of "Dark Corners." I was not disappointed. It is even darker and twistier than those other two books.

Main character Rachel Krall has a successful crime podcast. Imagine her surprise when the phone rings: an FBI agent asks her to meet him at a Florida prison. Someone there wants to see her.

At the same time, a predator lurks outside the prison. He's interested in Rachel, too.

Things are not as they seem. Agent Martinez tells Rachel to go home, but this situation has piqued her interest. She's not about to go home without learning what's going on and who's behind it.

Megan Goldin has written a fast-moving thriller with a competent, strong-willed heroine and an equally strong-willed FBI agent. If you enjoy fast-moving stories with lots of moving pieces, you'll enjoy "Dark Corners."

Do you like a good thriller? I think my favorite part is that the reader knows who the bad guy is and is just waiting for the rest of the characters to catch up. It's like watching a horror film where the blond cheerleader runs up the stairs, even though everyone knows that you never go up. You already know what is probably going to happen, but you have to watch the characters play it out anyway.

There is a mystery to this. There is a girl that is missing, more than one actually, and a whole bunch of characters that seem like they must be intertwined somehow if only you could figure out how. Plus there's the requisite romance between some of the characters. And extra intrigue, like Easter eggs or red herrings or side quests. It is just complex enough not to be boring but also not confusing.

Rachel is a return character from The Night Swim, but you definitely do not need to have read that book to enjoy this one.

I really like this author's books. I will definitely continue to read everything that she puts out in the world.

Megan knows how to tell a story! Wow! Her second novel is just as good if not stronger than the first. I got a bit annoyed at all the influencer gab, but I feel like being annoying was the point! Great read!

Everything Megan Goldin writes is good, including Dark Corners. 5 resounding stars. Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC!

Terrence is serving time in prison supposedly for crimes he didn't commit. The police think otherwise.
Maddison is a social media influencer with a lot of followers. Hours later after visiting Terrence at the prison she disappears. The police think she was either kidnapped or something more sinister.
Rachel has her own true crime podcast which has helped a few inmates who were wrongly convicted. She's a strong, determined woman who seeks the truth. She is surprised when the FBI asks for her help. Tables are turned and she realizes she's been somewhat played. They want her to talk to Terrence.
Terrence is to be released from prison in a few days and the FBI is worried that the serial killer and his accomplice will continue their string of crimes.
Rachel decides to go undercover to Buzz.Com (a social media influencer type conversation) to find out more about Madison. She realizes just how fake and self absorbed these influencers really are. (Loved the personalities of the influencers)
FBI Agent Joe tries to send Rachel back home but she is determined to stay and find out the truth.
Joe and Rachel work together to try to unravel the mystery behind Maddison's disappearance and other murders that have risen.

One of the best thrillers I've read this year!

Thank you Netgalley, Author Megan Goldin and St. Martin's Press for a digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

3.5 stars rounded up. I received an ARC of this book. It’s continuing the main character from The Night Swim but it’s a stand alone novel. Rachel, a true crime podcaster, is back again. I liked Rachel and I enjoyed the story. It wasn’t my favorite though. I felt like it was a bit slow at times. While I was reading it, I enjoyed it and wanted to continue. However when I wasn’t reading it I wasn’t compelled to pick it back up as much as other stories. I did like how things came together at the end and I didn’t see a couple things coming. Megan Goldin is definitely an author I will always look forward to reading as her books have been a hit for me. Thanks to the author, St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the ARC!

This was such a fascinating book. The topic of social media influencers was interesting. The condition the murderer had was also very interesting. There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout the book. The writing is wonderful. I really enjoyed this book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I really enjoyed the first book with Rachell Krall, Night Swim, so I was really happy to get another story with this investigative podcaster.

Dark Corners is just as riveting, twisty and unputdownable as the first book in the series!
Rachel is back but this time working with the FBI using her investigation skills and friendly approach to discover crucial information in hopes of finding a missing social media influencer. This latest missing person may be tied to a cold case from years ago where a prisoner due to be released in two days may have been involved. There's also something brewing with FBI agent Joe Martinez so I'd call this one a romantic suspense.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next Rachell Krall story and hopefully more of Joe Martinez..

This the second book featuring Rachel Krall. She started a podcast that has found several people innocent.
She is called to Florida by the FBI to help with the disappearance of Maddison, an internet influencer. She had visited Terrence in prison who murdered six women.
This book tells the story through different points of views. The story is professionally written and kept me reading.
I am looking forward to another Rachel Krall book and seeing her new FBI interest.
I loved Escape Room and the rest of her books. This one was worth a read

Podcasts, influencers, true crime, everything made for an intense read that I didn't want to put down! Why was Rachel called in to the Federal prison when she knew absolutely no one there? Where are all the young women that have disappeared from the area? Specifically the one that disappeared from the parked rv? Megan Goldin has another page turner to her credit

This is the second book I've read with Rachel Krall. Here we find her in Daytona Beach summoned by the FBI to possibly find a connection between a serial killer and a social influencer called Maddison who is missing.

Maddison was visiting a convention called BuzzCon where all super influencers get clout, Rachel is called in to determine if Maddison was missing and whether a convicted felon is involved?

I loved The Night Swim because of the depth it had regarding to to the legal system. This felt too shallow. Yes, Rachel is trying to find the connection but the social influence side took too much of the book. Once we hit BuzzCon, I zoned out. Maybe its because I'm not involved in Social Media or Influencing but I skimmed.

Overall the mystery was there but was overwhelmed by social media that made it tough to relate for someone not in that element

It did have a good mystery but lacked a little depth

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for my advanced copy for an honest review

I started this last night, and it was the first thing I started to do this morning when woke up. A fast read with brilliant pacing.

I liked this book a lot! I forgot that it was the second in a series, which I normally don’t love, but I enjoyed it for this book. The storyline and pacing worked well and I felt the characters were well-developed.

A great follow up to the first Rachel Krall novel, I zoomed through it in a day. There were a lot of character viewpoints to get used to, but I appreciate Megan Goldin starting each chapter with the narrator's full name to get you in the right frame of mind. This one was full of twists and turns and I liked speculating along with Rachel as time went on.
