At different points I could have gone anywhere from 2-4 stars with this book, so a three star rating feels like a good average. There was more gross-out humor in this one than I'm really looking for in my rom-coms, and I didn't love some of the ways the male lead talked about his ex-wife (granted, their marriage blew up in fairly spectacular fashion). However, there was plenty of good humor as well, and a fun story line of an unrequited high school crush. I loved the book business part of this.

๐Ÿ“–โญ๏ธ BOOK REVIEW โญ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

Book: The Book Proposal
Author: KJ Micciche
Star Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

The Book Proposal by KJ Micciche follows Gracie, a romance author who after one drunken night out and a flip through her old yearbook ends up reconnecting with a love interest from high school, Colin!! We follow the highs and lows of a rekindling friendship with a stressful book deadline and a crazy ex in tow!

Both of our main characters were extremely likeable and relatable and they seemed really genuine which was definitely a huge plus for me! Itโ€™s a fun, romantic comedy that sucked me in from the get go!! What book lover doesnโ€™t love books about books right?

Overall it was a super enjoyable read and I am so grateful to @netgalley, @sourcebookscasa and @kjmicciche for the opportunity to read this beauty before publication in exchange for an honest review!! If this sounds like a bit of you, it comes out tomorrow so please go check it out, itโ€™s definitely worth it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Suffering from a writers block, Gracie drowns her sorrows by drinking a little too many cocktails. Sometime during this, she emails her old high school crush, Colin & surprisingly, he replies back. Gracie & Sean form an unlikely friendship that develops into something more, which also helps with Gracie's writing.

A book set in the publishing world, this feels like an ideal setting. The back and forth emails between Gracie & Colin were hilarious & awkward; I thoroughly enjoyed them.

As a second chance romance, I appreciated the flashbacks from high school. But I didn't find the MCs to be very plain & boring, as well as their interactions.

The love notes from the past felt cringy. And to me, Colin felt like a frat by stuck in an adult body. Gracie didn't appeal to me either. The conflict was kind of predictable, but it worked out well in their favor.

<i>Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.<i>

What a fun and flirty debut from KJ Micciche! The Book Proposal follows romance author Gracie and her unrequited crush from high school, Colin, as they get a second chance to right the wrongs they had in high school. I mean, who hasn't drunk emailed someone from high school at least once?!?!?!

This book is fresh and honest, with surprising twists along the way. I loved how authentic both Gracie and Colin were. There was a perfect mix of funny and touching moments between the pair. I loved the mixed media, with the two emailing back and forth throughout. The dual perspectives worked well for me, especially on audio.

This book was absolutely and super spicy!

I loved the back and forth emails between the two main characters, the way he helps her with her next novel and the relationship between the two.

Definitely a must read!!

Gracie Landingโ€™s life is a mess. She is broke, single and canโ€™t seem to write her latest romance novel. So, when she emails her unrequited high-school crush, Colin Yarmouth, after too many drinks, she is surprised to hear back from him. His response seems more than friendly, and they agree to meet up. Having gone through a messy divorce, Colin โ€˜s story proves valuable to Gracieโ€™s writerโ€™s block. Yet Gracie is oblivious that this may impact their happily-ever-after.
I enjoyed the story being told from both Colin and Gracieโ€™s perspective. Whilst the story raises issues relating to Colinโ€™s cheating spouse, this is very much a romantic comedy, with two endearing characters. There is plenty of witty dialogue, making for a great read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If youโ€™ve found your life upended and are on a struggle bus of your 30s, this is a book you may appreciate.
Author Gracie Landing is described as a โ€œhot messโ€ and a drunken night lands her in the email inbox of Colin Yarmouth, the hot jock she always had a thing for in high school, now a lawyer. As she writes her next novel, they reconnect and he offers to help serve as inspiration, though no one couldโ€™ve guessed what unfolds next.
While there were some parts leaving me laughing out loud, unfortunately, I found it hard to connect with most of this story. Both characters seemed immature and they made the same mistakes throughout and near the end that they did in the beginning, so it feels like little growth from either, not to mention somethings that felt too unrealistic (will not post spoilers).
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. This releases 5/16.

The writing felt way to immature to be a story about 30 year olds. Only made it 25% through and couldnโ€™t read any more.

Gracie fell hard for Colin the first day of high school, but he never gave her a second look. Now, they are in their early 30's, both unhappy in life, and dealing with bad breakups. What starts as an angry drunk email on her part turns into a flirtatious exchange.

This book at some really great moments that I fell in love with! I liked Gracie. She was funny and super realistic. Yes, some of the moments were there for a laugh (some did fall flat) but overall, there was a quirky humor to the whole book that I did like. The idea of Colin helping Gracie with her book was cute. They worked well together, and I did want them to see their happy ending.

On the other side, I did want some more from them in the long run. They fell hard and fast and I wanted her teenaged letters to play a bigger part.

This was a good read, especially for quirky romance lovers!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the gifted copy!

Set in New York City, this was a cute romcom that was funny and quirky. As the cover art and tagline suggest, this book heavily features writing - the female main character is an author who currently uses a pen name and reconnects with her high school crush who she used to write anonymous love letters to. I enjoyed reading the email correspondence between the love interests, and found those interactions in the book interesting. There are some TMI moments that some readers may find comical, but it really depends on your sense of humor.

I gave this book a good try because the premise excited me, but ultimately it isn't for me. It didn't get off to a strong start, between that nasty email and then Dom-the-gross-friend and went downhill from there. I think the author was trying for funny, but the humour fell flat for me. The characters are in their thirties but felt so immature and I didn't like the way they talk to or about each other (and other people). A lot of the writing also left me questioning whether this author hates women or if that's just the way she's writing. What I did manage to read left a bad taste in my mouth, and I decided that it was better to stop reading than force it.

I'm not sure what's happening will all these books set in the world of publishing, but I am here for it! I especially appreciated the strong supporting cast and interesting (far-flung) Brooklyn setting in this entertaining romance.

This book was so much fun to read, I have laughed my way through books but this one was different!!!! Gracie is a struggling writer, and since things are not working out too well for her, she decided to sit back and dwell on her high school crush/ enemy. She sends him a drunk email and the rest is history. Colin has his own issues, but when they come together it was so effortless, I love a romance novel thatโ€™s smooth when it comes to them being together. Anyway, he wants to help her with her new book, since she scored an amazing deal, but here we get to know Colin, and his DRAMA. There is still a level of immaturity in this book which I found so annoying, but the humor added in this book made up for the spots that lacked. Thank you netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Unfortunately this one is a dnf for me. I tried my best to stick to it, but it's just not working for me. I find the voice of the FMC to be juvenile.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Gracie is all over the place in this story. She drank way too much and then did questionable things while inebriated.
She didnโ€™t drunk dial, but drunk emailed her crush from high school and that begins a whirlwind communication frenzy which does break her writing impasse.
Itโ€™s a decent story, but two things to learn: donโ€™t over imbibe and write what you know.

Holy moly what a debut novel!! This was such a fun, cute, and sexy book that left me wanting so much more! I loved how fast paced the storyline was and just kept me engaged throughout the entire time and I felt like it just helped so much with the storyline. There were so many parts in this book where I was giggling out loud and I ended up finishing it within 24 hours because I just didnโ€™t want to put it down.

I will say that where were some parts in the beginning of the book that felt a little cringey (ex. The FMC ended up โ€œsharting herselfโ€ pretty early on). While I can appreciate that this might have been an attempt at getting the readers to relate to the characters, it just kind of left me confused as to why this needed to be part of the storyline. However, that being said, I also really loved both MC and I loved how the Micciche did the chapters from both their POV because I felt like it just helped the storyline and helped the reader get to really understand the characters. I felt like after the first little bit, you did get to know the characters a lot more and became more invested. Overall, would definitely recommend if you are looking for something light and engaging! I cannot wait to see what else Micciche has up her sleeves!

I really enjoyed reading The Book Proposal. Yes, itโ€™s quirky, corny and just a bit over the topโ€ฆ.but, it was a perfect read for me. I need this type of story in my life every now and then. I literally read on and on and on because I just couldnโ€™t stop smiling and laughing. The plot is hysterical and so so funny!
Donโ€™t pay attention to the low reviews on this book. I loved it! I have already recommended it to my family and friends.
Thank you K.J. Micciche for totally engaging and fun read! I want to read more of your books!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜‰๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฌ ๐˜—๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ญ follows down on her luck Gracie Landing, who's been betrayed by her fiance and when she drunkenly sends an email to her high school crush Collin Yarmouth everything falls apart in the best and worst ways possible.

This was a touch too much.
I liked the emails between Gracie and Collins and the moments whenever they were happy together but that is it.
The dramatism of the ex drama just wasn't executed well in my opinion. Like I get how it could play a better and maybe more sophisticated role in the plot but again too dramatic here.

Also, Collin doing what he did for Gracie, even if it came from a good place was just dimmed by his subconscious need for revenge.

But I did enjoy the interactions between the couple so two stars for them and an extra for Dorian Gray, the cat.

Ok, so I really tried to like book. Unfortunately it just didn't hit the mark for me. I wish we'd had less internal dialogue and more things actually happening. I kept losing interest and putting this down because it really failed to grab my attention.

Thank you to the publisher for kindly providing me with an ARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
