I received this book through NetGalley, and I enjoyed it. The Deja Glitch was so much fun and was unlike the usual contemporary romance I am used to picking up. I loved Jack and thought his character was so sweet and refreshing. The time loop written by James worked so nicely and was such a page-turner! I look forward to reading more from Holly James.

The Deja Glitch by Holly James is a totally fun romcom.

Starring Gemma in her accidental meet-cute with Jack as they literally collide and coffee goes flying everywhere. They get stuck in a 24-hour time loop, which Jack quickly figures out. By the time loop repeats for the 147th time, Jack has a theory to break it— Gemma must meet and fall in love with him in one day…. But can she conquer the walls she built after her last boyfriend, musician Nick uses her to get to her dad, a famous music producer?

Gemma is a fun character who helps produce a radio show in LA and has a loyal and supportive influencer best friend Lila. Jack is a writer for a successful TV show.

Their story is fun and really made me root for them. I also enjoyed the peek into Hollywood. I wholeheartedly recommend this light and fun romcom.

Thank you to the author, Penguin Group Dutton, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my opinion.

After absolutely loving Nothing But the Truth, this was a letdown for me. I couldn't get invested in the characters, and while I don't usually have a problem with time loops, I found myself annoyed with the way this one worked. I certainly am not writing off Holly James forever, but I hope her next book is more like her debut.

This book is delightful. The time loop setup is so fun, and I love the dynamic between Gemma and Jack, with Jack remembering their entire history and Gemma working through everything over the course of the day. The subplot with Gemma and her father is super compelling, and Gemma’s best friend Lila is a treat. I laughed, I swooned, I was bummed when the book ended and the day was over — unlike Gemma and Jack, I’m sure.

I liked this one!
Groundhog Day with some romance? Say less.
Some thought it was cheesy but I enjoyed that aspect. It’s a cute, easy read rom com. Gemma and Jack were super cute, although I had to knock down a star for the forced relationship between Gemma and her dad. I’m a firm believer in not having to HAVE a relationship with family just because they are your family.

Thank you, NetGalley!

I always looooove a good time loop story. Groundhog Day but, make it romantic? Yes, please.

Gemma did frustrate me sometimes as she tended to have childish moments but, Jack was always right there chasing her love. I tended to have to grow into my love of Gemma where Jack I was a fan of from the very beginning.

Thank you to the publishing team and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I can’t believe this took me almost two months to finish. Now, that’s a personal record.

I really liked the concept of this book, I like a good ol’ time loop.

I really wanted this one to be at least a 4 ⭐️ but due to the cheesiness and how I felt it was longer than it had to be—partly because of the incredibly long chapters—I settled for a 3.

Even though we didn’t experience the day being repeated over and over again, the last iteration of this Thursday the characters were stuck on felt never ending. So much happened it’s hard to believe this book takes place in one single day, it was almost as if this day was longer than 24 hours.

My least favorite character was probably Lila, which could be very annoying.

My favorite character had to have been Jack, due to his resilience. No matter how many times he had to try, he never gave up.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a screenwriter, that was new and refreshing to me. I’d like to read more books with this profession in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dutton Books for a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

The Deja Glitch by Holly Brown
Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went into this book solely on how cute the cover was! I tend to get on Netgalley and go on a request binge of great covers. This ended up being a different trope than I have ever read before.

To break out of a 24 hour loop (think Groundhog Day) Jack needs Gemma to fall in love with him in a day. Gemma is an up and coming radio producer with a quiet life with her dog. Ever since her ex boyfriend broke her heart by using her for a record deal she’s kept to herself. Along comes handsome Jack running into her by why does this feel like she’s met him before?

This was well written, I am not usually a fan of instant love. But because they have been doing this same day for months they have actually been falling in love this whole time, Gemma just hasn’t remembered. I really enjoyed the connection between Jack and Gemma. If you like a good romance story this is a perfect book.

Summary:
Something feels eerily familiar to Gemma, but she can’t quite put her finger on it. That is, until she (literally) bumps into Jack at a coffee shop and he sets her memory in motion.

Unbeknownst to Gemma, she’s been stuck in a time-loop for almost five months with a handsome stranger named Jack. She can’t remember any of the dates Jack has taken her on, or any of the conversations they’ve had. But Jack remembers all of it. Jack is certain the way to break out of the time loop is to make Gemma fall in love with him, but… is it possible?

This book is everything I love about the romance/chick lit genre.

The Deja Glitch is *so* cute. I loved it. It gave me the feel goods, the warm fuzzies, the champagne high. It was so, so, so cute.

It might have taken a time loop of almost five months for Gemma to fall in love, but it took me less than a day to fall in love with this book.

You’ll love this book if you also love:
- Time-loop tropes.
- Movies like 50 First Dates or About Time
- Big, huge romantic gestures.
- Supportive female friendships

Thank you to Holly James, the publisher, and NetGalley for this delightful ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thanks @netgalley Penguin Group @duttonbooks and @hellohollyjames for the early look at The Deja Glitch. It publishes on July 31, 2023.

Gemma meets an amazing guy at her best friend’s birthday party—hitting it off so well it’s almost like they know each other. After the best kiss of her life, he whispers to remember him. The next morning, she wakes up having no memory of the day she just lived. It turns out her dream guy has been reliving the same day for five months and thinks she’s the key to stopping the time loop. As memories start to come back, she has to figure out if she can take a chance on him.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I only need one word to describe The Déjà Glitch: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Is this book outrageously romantic? Yes, it absolutely is! Did I outrageously loved it? Well... since I am a sucker for "cheesy" time loop romance, I adoooored it and now my only wish is for this book to be adapted into a movie!

So, If you've already joined the club of hopeless romantics(like me), The Déjà Glitch is the right book for you. If you still haven’t joined the club, you'll almost surely will after reading this book. I am telling you: while reading this book, you might need a moment (or two, or three, or four) to stop, hold it close to your chest and just soak up its tenderness.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was with her in the coffee shop.
I was with her in the restaurant.
I was with her in the airport.
I was with her backstage.

This was such a book full of cuteness and magic. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a light, quick read.

Gemma and Jack were absolutely adorable in this time loop GEM. It was such a cute story that I couldn't put down until I absolutely had to close my eyes to sleep. At first I wasn't so sure about the story because I couldn't fathom reading the same story being just slightly rewritten to describe the time loop story but it was so beautifully done. Stretched into one beautiful romantic day. I never like to leave any spoilers but I want to thank netgalley for the ARC and thought this was such a great read. I marked 4 stars but give it 4.5/5

I was in the mood for a light romcom with a touch of magical realism, and The Déjà Glitch fulfilled my craving. It's a time loop story, reminiscent of the Groundhog Day movie. But unlike the movie, it's told not from the perspective of the man in the time loop but that of the object of his affection, who is unaware of his predicament until they literally collide outside a coffee shop.

Jack says he's been stuck in the same day for months and feels that the only way he can escape is to win the love of Gemma--in one day. Gemma doesn't have any memory of the time Jack claims she has spent with him and is initially resistant, but along the way she begins to feel that there's definitely something between them worth pursuing.

The plot requires the reader's willing suspension of disbelief, of course, and it's a mistake to try to figure out how the time loop works. It's intended to be a light-hearted, high-concept story that ends in romance, along with subplots about Gemma's estrangement from her father, her deep relationship with her younger brother, career and romantic relationship issues for both Gemma and Jack, and finding one's way out of a rut to discover what is really important in life.

My favorite characters are Lila, Gemma's flamboyant influencer friend, Gemma's supportive brother, and and an aging rock star. It's a charming book, like the author's previous book, Nothing But the Truth, which I also recommend.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

If you are looking for a fun, quick read this is perfect for you. Set over 24 hours, we follow Gemma and Jack as they try to break a time-loop they have become trapped in.

Gemma starts her day, just like any other day, when she unfortunately crashes into Jack in the coffee shop spilling the iced lattes she has grabbed for her work team all over her favourite top. Gemma has no idea who Jack is. Jack knows exactly who Gemma is having bumped into her multiple times and lived this exact day over a hundred times. Over the course of the day, Jack works hard to convince Gemma that she must fall in love with him to break the spell.

Things that make this trope unique - we are following the person who has no idea they are stuck in a time loop! Jack is the individual who is re-living the day and trying to change the course to see what happens. Gemma has no idea it is happening.

There is some depth to the novel with Gemma having to face her estranged father, come to grips with learning her brother is moving permanently to Africa and overcome her fear of interviewing her favourite performer when her boss is unable to attend the radio show. A lot happens in 24 hours. She even has to deal with her ex-boyfriend!

Overall, this is a precious, entertaining read. I devoured it in a day.

Book Review: The Déjà Glitch by Holly James
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: .5🌶️
This review may contain minor spoilers.

The Déjà Glitch follows Jack and Gemma as they relive the same day over and over. And although Gemma has no idea she is stuck in a time loop, Jack has been aware the entire time struggling to get her to remember anything about him. He finally kisses Gemma, which triggers her to start remembering small details about their repeated day together.

I love a good time loop story. Trying to solve the puzzle, flip the switch, find the trigger to break the loop. These stories always draw me in. And the fact that she told it from Gemma's perspective was even better. It's great to see the annoyed MC reliving the day and finding the differences. But to tell it from someone who doesn't have that memory, made it 10x better.

While I loved the concept of this book and the story kept me engaged, the ending left a little something to be desired. I wanted there to be a reversal of memory/time loop and to see Gemma have to work for Jack to remember.

I really enjoyed this story and was hooked from the beginning. Loved the concept and was trying to figure out the events of the day right along Gemma. I look forward to reading more by Holly!

I received an eARC from NetGalley & Penguin Group Dutton for my honest review.

The Deja Glitch is published August 1st, 2023

3.5⭐️

This book is a romance novel about Gemma and Jack who get stuck in a loop, repeating the same day over and over again. Gemma and Jack are left to fall in love in one day in order to break the loop. Along the way, both have made personal growth. There are moments of love, sadness, confusion, being, grief and acceptance as well as forgiveness.

I really thought this was a cute read. This is the first time I have read a time loop trope book. I really appreciate the way the author, Holly James, wrote the time loop trope. It didn’t get repetitive at all for the readers. Also, Lila is the best friend anyone could ask for.

A lot happens on this adventure to end the time loop, that it just didn’t seem realistic to happen all in one day. I also wish Rex was more prominent in this story, dogs always make everything better. However, I would say I really enjoyed this romance novel.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Dutton, and Holly James for the Digital ARC of. The Deja Glitch for an honest review.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

First I'd like to premise this review by saying I've not read the time loop trope before so this was a new take for me. The synopsis sounded so intriguing and the book started strong for me. I loved Jake and his patience in helping Gemma through their predicament. He was very sweet and his quiet confidence in her was heartwarming.

I think what I would have liked to see from the book was more time. More failures or more of Jake's attempts at time correction would have made his saga a bit more interesting.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

I had recently watched a timeloop meet cute movie on Amazon and was left with a bad taste in my mouth so I was quietly sceptical of this book, but I really liked this cute romcom, instalove book. The book took place over a short timeline of 24 hours and it was jam packed. I originally wondered if there should have been a bit more "day do over" for us to see, but I really like how Holly James unravelled this story. I really liked both main characters; Jack seemed great, would have liked to have seen more of how he fell for Gemma and more from his POV but I get why this wasn't the case. All in all a solid read. Devoured in about 4 hours!
