I rated the Deja Glitch 4 stars, probably more specifically 3.5/3.75. I really enjoyed the beginning, it was so fun reading from Gemma's POV of someone OUTSIDE the time loop, Jack trying to explain it to her and the discussion after the coffee shop were my favorite parts. I also enjoyed the middle of the book, but once we reached towards the end I felt the book start to lag and become a bit too cliche. Also, the roof ending when they just recapped the book felt very unnecessary, the book itself is only 330ish pages anyway. Other than that, I enjoyed this fun adventure.

I love a good time loop story! And they even referred to the movie Groundhog Day so that was a great little throwback.
I just loved Jack 🥰 he was so patient and persistent that it made me want to shake Gemma every time she walked away from him 🤦🏼♀️
I highly recommend this for if you’re in a reading slump or need a happy pick me up after something heavy or sad 📖 📚

Note: I received a free ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback.
This was my first read from Holly James, but I'm a sucker for a contemporary rom-com with a cartoon cover. Typically, I'm wary of time-loops; they can get repetitive and predictive. This one was very different.
Essentially, everything takes place in one day. We learn about all of our characters, see and solve their biggest problems, and have a happy ending all at once, without having to relive each day until they get it right. While I worry that a time-loop could get boring, I do feel like I missed out on seeing characters learn and build from their mistakes.
While one-try approach made the time-loop more interesting, it also made me miss out on Gemma and Jack actually falling in love. We were just told they had formed this 3 1/2 month relationship, but didn't get to see it happen. I usually love the slow gratification of a goofy rom-com, so this story did get rid of my favorite part.
That being said, this was a pleasant, light read, and it made me want to move back to L.A. expeditiously!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC of the Deja Glitch by Holly James.
This is a time loop trope which I am somewhat typically wary of but this one was different. Rather than "groundhog " day style which frustrates me thid one takes place over 24 hours.
I really loved the characters. Obviously Jack and Gemma but also her bestie Lila
Gemma I found to be slightly irritating at points but obviously understand why! Jack though was completely adorable!
Solid 3 stars.

"Maybe he's the man of your dreams, and you just don't know it yet."
Gemma and Jack are stuck in a 24-hour time loop, and Jack is the only one that remembers the previous day and the only way to break the time loop is for Jack to get Gemma to fall in love with him in 24 hours.. easy, right?!
This book is told from Gemmas perspective, which was really fun. I was expecting the opposite!
I absolutely loved ALL the characters in this book. Jack is my new book boyfriend, and I'm not sharing 😉.
I have to admit, I don't think I've EVER read a time loop story! I was expecting a repetitive nature but not this one. Holly Jackson did a great job keeping the story fresh and captivating. The Deja Glitch comes out August 1st!

8/10 Once again, the time loop angle hooked me. The Déjà Glitch is the story of Jack, an actor stuck in a time loop with no idea how he got there. His only idea of how to possibly escape is to make radio producer Gemma Peters fall in love with him, as she seems to be the only reliable constant in his repetition.
It took me a little bit to adjust to the book, for some reason I expected it to be more about how they constantly cross paths (Groundhogs Day style) whereas the book takes place over the course of 24 hours. But once I did I really enjoyed this fresh perspective of a time loop storyline.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dutton for the ARC!

Sadly this was not for me, it took place over 24 hours and it was a lot to get through. I'm not really a fan of the day repeating but it was a very cute Hallmark type book if that is what you are into.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Penguin Group Dutton for a eARC of this novel in exchange for a honest review.
Gemma kisses a stranger at her best friend’s birthday party and it kicks her off on a journey to find out why the next day so much seems to be familiar. She quickly meets Jack who works to convince her they been stuck in a time loop for months.
I’m not usually a fan of the insta love trope but I thought this was a cute take and the novel is incredibly easy to read and get into.

To start off my review, the cover and title of this book are adorable! They immediately grabbed my attention. Now for the actual story…I really wanted to love this one, but ultimately it just was not my favorite.
The entire story takes place over a 24 hour period, and boy do they manage to fit a lot into one single day. I think the idea was good with a nice little spin on the time loop story, but it still managed to get redundant at times. I found it to be a little predictable and cheesy, but not in a good way.
Overall it was a quick Hallmark-ish type of romance. If those are your thing, you may really enjoy this one.

I had such fun reading this and loved it! I’m a fan of time loops but this put a new twist on it. Rather than from the perspective of Jack, the person in the loop, it’s from the perspective of Gemma, who has no idea what’s going on. I thought it was fun to do it this way and made me think how I would react if I was told I was in a time loop unaware. Jack and Gemma had great chemistry even if they knew each other and also didn’t. I was falling more in love with every scene of theirs together! I also loved Gemma’s journey on her own! She has a lot of growth and development in this book and I loved to see it and follow her journey! And then ending was just the cherry on top! I don’t want to give anything away beyond grand gestures!
Overall, I loved reading this book and recommend you read it when it comes out!

rated this book a 3.25 ⭐️. this book is a time loop trope, which i am glad that i read something new. the book started off really slow, but as it continues, it progressed to get really good. i loved gemma’s best friend, lila, as she was willing to stick up for gemma no matter what. she’s a good best friend. and i loved gemma’s relationship with her brother, patrick, as it shows they have a close bond. gemma’s relationship with her dad is strained, but throughout the book, gemma shows character development as she is willing to forgive. and there was a funny moment in the book where gemma had an "i told you so" moment to this character, which demonstrates she has a sense of humor.
i think what would’ve made the book stronger is to show gemma and jack (her love interest) reliving the day over and over. the book only shows one day from the time loop, but i think including the days where they were reliving the time loop repeatedly would’ve made the reading process much more exciting. i also wished we would’ve seen jack’s pov on his experience of reliving the day as well. the book synopsis caught my eye due to how it reminded me of a campy, horror time-loop movie i watched a long time ago.
overall, i liked the book but didn’t love it. it was a cliche love story between gemma and jack reliving the day which those tropes are my weakness (my go-to or preferred genre). i found this story predictable to a point where i enjoyed it since it was so cute. also this was a third person pov which was usually not my cup of tea (prefer first person), but i would say that third person was suited for this type of writing. there were some flaws, but mostly it was flaws that would’ve made the book even more improved and exceptional.
thank you netgalley and dutton books for the advanced reader copy! i was really grateful and ecstatic when receiving the book! this book releases on august 01, 2023, if anyone is interested!!! looking forward to reading more of holly james!!!🔭🪐🌌⏱✈️

I was given an ARC of the Deja Glitch by Holly James by NetGalley. I delayed reading this book for quite awhile because it is outside my usual comfort romance tropes. After battling through a series that took me most of January and February, I picked up the Deja Glitch looking for something lighter and easier to read. This book didn’t disappoint at all. I really liked the time loop storyline. Deja Glitch was different from so many of the romances I read. I really enjoyed reading about Jack attempts to win the love of Gemma. Be warned, there is no spice in this book, but the story makes it a solid 4 stars in my opinion.

So I typically don't love the time loop, groundhog day type trope to a book. However, this one was just done so well! The setting, the Main Characters, the supporting characters, the romance - everything was wonderful! It didn't get nearly as repetitive as some of these themed books can, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This is my favorite rom-com I've read in months; definitely my favorite so far in 2023. The time loop doesn't get tired, because the POV we are in only experiences the day once. The male lead is swoon-worthy. Just absolutely adorable, so in love with our heroine, and practically perfect (but not in an annoying way). The best friend is a true ride-or-die. She's supportive and funny, and I wouldn't mind reading a book about her. We also get some real discussion on familial baggage (with father and brother) so it almost feels like a contemporary book instead of a romance. The humor is good-- like I did actually laugh out loud a couple of times. The rock star cameos really put it over the top for me. I'm sure I will be rereading sections of this frequently. The heroine has agency galore, she's scarred by previous heart break and it takes her a minute to realize what she wants, but that's realistic. I will definitely be looking to read more from this author.

Thanks to publisher and netgalley for this advanced reader copy!
5/5 for leading man that is Jack!!! I could feel how he looked at her even through the pages SWOON!
Really liked the premise of this and the chemistry was really good but there was a bit too much of the family drama for my taste, I would have skipped that all entirely tbh.
I also would have killed for dual pov entire book!!! Authors please only do dual pov for all books!

I was apprehensive about this book because I am usually leery of gimmicks, like the groundhog day trope used for this book. However, I ended up loving the characters and the heartfelt story! It didn't drag at all, and I found both main characters to be equally likable and believable, even in this supernatural story. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a light, breezy romance!
Thank you Penguin Group Dutton for my ARC!

I love the time loop trope so I was excited to read this one. Unfortunately it was just ok for me nothing really stands out as to why I didn’t love it. I thought the main characters were like able enough but didn’t really connect to them. I would definitely read something else by this author and recommend this book for people to try just wasn’t one I loved. I want to thank NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars- I have read a few time loop stories over the last year or so and this one, although it had an interesting take on the trope, it was by far my least favorite. This book was classified as a romance, but the main characters weren’t actually in the book together all that much. The guy is already “in love”, and you don’t get the experience of them falling in love. I don’t feel like I got to know much about him at all. The main character was not as likeable as she could have been because of how she treated her brother (insisting he go from flight to flight even though it was obvious he needed to rest) and the way she treated Jack. She knew and believed enough about his situation-being stuck in a loop for months- but didn’t do all she could to help. It was a single day of her life. If she believed him at all a decent person would do all she could to help him, especially considering the “pull” she felt towards him. She had a bad breakup a year before with a total villain of a man, but it still seemed to run her life all that time later. She ran completely hot and cold with Jack and you only understand that he keeps trying because his life depends on it (although the book tries to insist it’s because he’s fallen in love after having eight dates with her where he’s is a stranger to her every time.
One thing this book does throughout that is a pet peeve of mine is that every time two characters are having a conversation, there are sentences or paragraphs of internal dialogue before the next line of dialogue. I just want to skip forward so the characters are speaking at a normal pace.
I think this book had a lot of potential, but disappointingly was more a so-so women’s fiction with elements of romance and the supernatural.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton Publishing for providing me access to this eARC for my honest opinion!

Thank you NetGalley for this ebook!
This will be published, Aug. 01, 2023.
This was a romance time loop trope. Slow paced.
"One hundred and forty seven redos" before the glitch that changed everything.
Gemma was you know having a normal day, she dressed in her fav outfit for work, planned to pick up coffee on the way, then she started having "déjá vu". As she picked up her coffee and making her way out, some random guy bumps into, causing her coffee to slip all over her fav shirt! Once she sees the guy, he looked oddly familiar, like she met him before or seen him before.
From there the story is like a roller coaster. She meets her fav artist. There's also a psychic and a scientist. Ex-boyfriend gets what he deserves. Family part on equal terms.

So fun! I enjoyed the premise and the characters! I wanna see this turn into a rom com movie. I loved seeing their relationship evolve in the span of a day in semi realistic terms
