Gemma keeps getting the feeling that she’s experienced certain situations before. When she crashes into Jack one day, she discovers that she IS. In fact, they both are. Jack has been living in his own personal “Groundhog Day”, and he realizes that Gemma is the key to potentially breaking the cycle, especially now that they realize she’s remembering having lived the day before too. She’s not sure she believes him, however. Not only does he need to convince her that they are in a time loop, he needs to get her to fall in love with him. But can he do it?!?

I was HOOKED after reading the first chapter. Like, goosebumps! Gemma and Jack have instant chemistry. His gaze holds all that he’s feeling, remembering all of the other days with her. For Gemma, however, it always feels like she’s only just met him. Their kiss at the end of the first chapter proves that things are about to change. I loved how they helped one another challenge the status quo of their own lives, which were basically on repeat even before they were in a time loop. Each of them was living by default, and they both desperately needed their lives to be shaken up. And only Gemma and Jack could change the course of the other's lives.

The changes Jack and Gemma make in their personal lives are pretty powerful. However, I felt like the story I READ didn’t match my expectations/hopes for what the story would actually BE, so ultimately I felt disappointed by the plot. I honestly had trouble caring about Gemma and Jack’s career woes, family problems, etc., because it was taking away from what I’d hoped would be the story: experiencing a time loop and falling in love. I felt like the time travel and love story were barely touched on, and basically only at the beginning and end of the story. Jack was missing from the book a LOT, and when he was around, she was usually pretty wary/distrusting of him. I think I’d have been happier I’d considered story “women’s fiction” as opposed to “contemporary romance.”

I'd like to thank The Penguin Group, Dutton, and Netgalley for this e-ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Easy, Lighthearted Read

Jack and Gemma are stuck in a time loop. They have been going through the same day for nearly 5 months.... only she doesnt remember. Jack needs to make Gemma fall in love with him in just 1 day to make it end.

Time loop/ deja vu stories can be so cliche BUT Holly add her own spin and it was great. There were so many additional component to the story beyond just "falling in love". So much happens in this 24 hours. You had a strong sibling bond, broken father-daughter relationship, career changes & struggles and a crazy ex girlfriend. This book had me smiling throughout and of course, rooting for the couple.

ARC REVIEW: A Cosmically Designed Adventure

I found reading James’s novel so enjoyable that it only took a few days to complete it. Holly James winds an adventure that tests the reader’s understanding of the universe & it’s cosmic design in relation to love. Even as a piece of fiction, the reader has to buy into the concept of the universe being in control & that it has the ability to course correct anything that needs correcting including love.

It takes both Gemma & Jack time to figure this out (however Jack believes much faster). His main focus is finding a way to convince Gemma she is the piece of the puzzle that the universe has designed just for him. And if Jack can get her to fall in love with him - in just one day - the universe will return to the correct path.

In the beginning of the novel I found myself being as skeptical as Gemma. Of course as I read more I found myself on the side of Jack. The ups & downs of the adventure between these two characters is what makes them so lovable. The universe might be in more control than we think - especially when it comes to love.

I am very much looking forward to reading more of James’s work!

Gemma starts the day feeling a major sense of déjà vu and it just gets crazier when she runs into a guy who claims they are stuck in a time loop. Gemma is a very practical character so the idea of a time loop immediately sends her for a loop. She may feel a connection to Jack, but that doesn’t mean she is the answer to stopping the loop. This story is all about questioning the power of love and is a very cute romance!

This book was a fun read, but it was just ok for me. I felt the story dragged on longer than it should have, and I found myself rushing to get through it at the end.

I did enjoy the relationship between Jack and Gemma. It was predictable, but cute. Sort of a “Hallmark” style romance. I also enjoyed her friendship with influencer friend, Lila.

Overall, I would recommend this book to people who like cheesy rom-coms, but it won’t be one I reach for again. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

I thought this was a super cute retelling of the time loop trope. Jack and Gemma have awesome chemistry and I liked the it didn’t only focus on their relationship, but on Gemma’s other relationships as well. It did start to drag towards the end but then it picked up and was wrapped up nicely. Definitely worth a read for any romance fans out there - sweet, heartfelt.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Dutton for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
I recently read this author's Nothing But The Truth and liked it but didn't love it. Not so with this one - it was so much better. So funny and great pacing - even though it takes place in a very short time, it didn't feel rushed. Loved the main characters and their chemistry. I also liked the subtle mention of characters from her other book. Speaking of, is it possible the next book is about Lila? She was the perfect best friend character.

I didn't plan it but I happened to read two "time loop" books in a row - the other one was awful so I didn't have high hopes for The Deja Glitch. I needn't have worried. Fun, fast, you can read it in one night. Very satisfying, definitely recommend.

Everyone say hello to your new favorite Groundhog Day retelling, because this one is going to have you grinning ear to ear from start to finish. The Deja Glitch was adorably sweet, funny, and fun. Usually I'm not a fan of time-loop stories (they feel too repetitive for me..which I guess is the point) but this one was written in a way that felt new and not like I was just rereading the same chapter over and over again. Point to Holly James! I loved the drama, I loved the man-falls-first, I loved the happy ever after. Our leading man Jack was adorably sweet, the heroine Gemma was stubborn but relatable, and the side friends were perfect and fun to hear from. Also loved the closed-door romance aspect! Another winner of a read!

Super cute, quick, fresh take on the Groundhog Day/time loop trope, but make it a romcom. Fans of crossover romcom and women’s fic/commercial novels and the romcom film Palm Springs will definitely enjoy this read.

Set in L.A., Gemma is the daughter of a famous rock star and climbing the ladder to being an on air interviewer in the scene. At her BFFs bday party she meets Jack, and they have an instant connection. So deep and instantaneous it’s almost like they’ve met before..because they have. Over 150 times actually! Jack, a successful TV screenwriter, has been stuck in this time loop since the day they met and believes the key to getting out is getting Gemma to fall in love with him.

Set over the course of 24 hrs, the plot moves forward in a way where it’s plausible they have a legitimate shot at falling in love in a single day. I personally wish we could have gotten even more on page time of them just being couple-y because I really liked them. Definitely recommend this one and can see it appealing to newer genre crossover readers who may be newer to the romance genre in general because so many will connect with the premise

Let me start this by saying, I absolutely love the premise of this book. But this was just not it for me. I really couldn’t connect to the plot or the characters and I just felt like I didn’t care enough to find out what happened in the end. I did end up enjoying a few bits of it, so it gets 2 stars from me.

I wanted to love this book. I enjoy the time loop trope and the first few chapters of this book really drew me in. About halfway through, I started to lose interest. The end of the book held my attention again, but the middle was difficult. I didn't like that the time loop only covered 2 days. The story was from Gemma's POV and she didn't remember. I think if she had been the one who remembered or if it had given Jack's POV it would have worked better.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGallery for an early preview of this book.

I really enjoyed this book! The time loop was a fun new adventure and I thought the side characters were fleshed out well as well as Gemma and Jack. I really enjoyed their relationship and found myself rooting for them to be together. My only very tiny nitpick would be a little more closure with Gemma's dad, but thought it was still done well. I just found myself very invested in their relationship as well. I would recommend this book to friends and family.

The Groundhog Day / 24 hr trope is very difficult to write, and unfortunately this one missed. I think it’s because the main character is the one in the dark; she can’t manipulate or change anything from the day before. Gemma is incredibly selfish and overall unlikeable, and Jack is one dimensional. I appreciate the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

This was such a fun twist on the "groundhog day" story. The characters were written very well and the story itself hooked me right away!

A fun, lighthearted yet thought provoking read that gave me all the feels. An elevated Groundhog Day with humor, friendship, family and love.

Gemma is living her life in a rut when she meets Jack at her best friend's birthday. She feels an instant connection like she met him before and after Jack explaining, it seems like she has. They have lived the same day over and over again but Gemma has no memory of it. As Jack pulls out all the stops to convince Gemma to love him, Gemma does everything in her power to deny it. Will true love win? What will stop this endless cycle?

Loved Jack and Gemma! Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the ARC.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I'm not really a huge fan of the "groundhog day" premise but I enjoyed the fresh spin this story took. I liked following Gemma's perspective in the time-loop as Jack's would have definitely gotten old quickly. Jack's dialogue was definitely swoon-worthy at times and I enjoyed him as a character but the romance fell a little flat for me (it escalated very quickly which felt a bit out of character for Gemma, especially given her backstory). The side characters were definitely my favorite part of this story and I almost wish Lila had gotten her own book because she's a delight. This is a pretty sweet romance, with very little spice if you know what I mean. Overall, I enjoyed this one and read it in one sitting. I'd definitely be willing to read more of Holly James work!

Big thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for sharing this advanced reader copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Addicted is not a strong enough word for how I feel about this book. I loved nearly everything about it. I need to be honest here, time loop books are not my favorite but this book is the exception. Iloved the charactors, the plot was perfectly executed, the vibes were chefs kiss.. GO READ THIS BOOK WHEN ITS OUT!
