Alexa… play Glitch by Taylor Swift! That’s all I could think about while reading this book lol This was a cute book! A light read with no crazy plot twists. A story about a pair that are stuck in the same day and trying to figure out how to stop it. Nothing groundbreaking but it was a modern take on a classic plot line. It took me a while to really get into it but towards the end, I found myself sooo invested. I was dying to find out if the two main characters had found their way out of their endless time loop. I liked the rockstar dad element, I thought the father daughter relationship was something most people could relate to. Overall, a nice, short read that I’m not mad at!

Girl meets boy at a bar. They hit it off, night ends.

Girl meets boy that sounds vaguley familiar. He is the boy from the bar, but it hasn’t happened yet. Or happens daily, depending who you are.

Jack is stuck in his own Groundhog’s Day with Gemma and needs to find his way out, and tries to make Gemma fall in love with him every single day.

Cute, quick read.

I have no words for this book it was that good! The Deja Glitch' was the first time loop book that I've ever read and I was pleasantly surprised Gemma and Jack crash into each other at a coffee shop. As the collide with each other, they have to determine if fate is intervening in their lives. Jack has tried, unsuccessfully, to help Gemma remember him, but each day, he has to start over again and try to figure out how to help her remember him. Without giving further spoilers away please check out this book you won't be disappointed!

This time loop novel was a really enjoyable read. It takes place over the course of one day (kind of), and by the end, I felt like Gemma and Jack were meant to be. Because it's only one day, it does feel a little like insta-love, but it's not quite that, if you think about it.

Gemma's day is so jam packed that it's almost hard to believe everything could fit in, but it's just this side of believable, so it works. From workout to coffee to the office, her friend's house to a psychic to Caltech and beyond, everything she does serves the story and moves things at a quick pace. I had a difficult time putting it down and tending to my real life duties, wanting to stay immersed and see how Gemma's day would turn out. Would she make it to Friday, or would she wake up on Thursday, again? If she woke up on Thursday and had to do it all again, would she remember Jack? Did they have the key to get out of the loop?

Ultimately, I enjoyed how it concluded, and would definitely read it again.

'The Deja Glitch' was unlike any other time loop book that I've ever read, and I LOVED it! I love the concept of a time loop romance, but sometimes, those types of stories can be repetitive and boring. This book was not like that at all, and I felt like I was in the time loop with them. In this story, Gemma and Jack have lived the same day over and over again, but only Jack remembers each day. Gemma is a radio producer, but she also has a rock star dad. Gemma and her dad aren't very close anymore, but she is hoping to one day improve that relationship. Jack is a TV writer, but he isn't happy in his career or love life.

On a random Thursday morning, Gemma and Jack crash into each other at a coffee shop. Her favorite shirt is ruined because coffee goes all over it. As the collide with each other, they have to determine if fate is intervening in their lives. Jack has tried, unsuccessfully, to help Gemma remember him, but each day, he has to start over again and try to figure out how to help her remember him.

As they go through their day, this one particular version of this day, Jack decides to take a chance and test his theory: if he can get Gemma to fall in love with him, they can break out of the time loop.

The set out on a journey that takes them to people and places that make Jack and Gemma come together to determine their own fate. Will they escape the time loop? Will Gemma fall in love with Jack, and if she does, is it really the key to breaking out of the loop?

There were so many likeable characters in this story, and I would happily read a sequel book about any of them. I loved the fast-paced nature of the book, and I couldn't put it down. I was even reading it while I was at my desk at work and during my lunch break.

I loved everything about this book! It was such a sweet and fun romance. I can't wait to read more from Holly James.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dutton Publishing for an ARC of this delightful book.

this was a great concept for the time-loop, it didn't feel like a typical story going on with time involved. I enjoyed the plot that was going on and how well it was done. It was a cute story and loved the romance between the two leads. The characters were well written and had a great job in telling the story. I enjoyed the way Holly James wrote this and can't wait to read more from her.

“OKAY, NEW THEORY,” Gemma said as they climbed back into Jack’s car. “You made some life-changing decision yesterday—the real yesterday—that somehow set today in motion.”

Reminds me of a romance version of the movie Liar Liar. I really enjoyed this one.

What a lovely time loop story set in the TV/music world of LA. Enter television screenwriter Jack who has been living the same day over and over again for months. He quickly figured out that the center of this loop is the lovely radio producer Gemma but only recently figured out how to get out of it - get the girl, get out of the loop!

At the start of the story, we see Gemma and Jack meet and her best friend Lila’s birthday party and unbeknownst to Gemma, they had actually made repeatedly on that same day many times before. They hit it off and kiss at the end of the night and Jack’s goodbye words are ‘Please remember me’. She wakes up the next morning and it just happens to be the same day again and although she doesn’t realize it’s the same day, she has a sense of deja vu all morning. Then she goes to a coffee shop and a gorgeous guy walks right into her and coffee goes flying. When he apologizes though, he seems familiar….does she know him, she asks even though she knows they haven’t met before. And Jack answers yes and then the chaos and magic ensue.

What I love about this story is that the story starts off with Jack coming clean to Gemma about his time loop situation in the very beginning. We often see this trope playing out for a long time before the love interest even finds out what’s going on….if they ever find out. Jack is so very heartbreakingly open and honest about everything that Gemma can’t help but take him mostly seriously. Then together they try to navigate the day and that’s what makes this particular day different than all the others. Quickly we see that Gemma and Jack make a good team and bring out the best in each other which is the perfect recipe for love which is exactly what ensues.

Do I believe a person can fall in love in a single day? I’d say no, but this book made it feel possible. It also painted a vivid picture of how decisions made in the span of one day can change the course of a life and relationships of all kinds.

I’m always nervous going into time loop books because I never know how repetitive things are going to be or how long the characters are going to be stuck. I loved that this story played out over only one day, though we learn for Jack he’s been there with his memories of how the day plays out for much longer. It never felt like the story dragged out either. So much happened in that single day that there was always anticipation of what was going to happen next.

The real story here though is Gemma finding her way. Finding her way in her career, finding her way to standing up for herself and navigating her family dynamics, and, of course, finding her way to Jack.

As the day went on and the more time Gemma and Jack spent interacting, the louder Taylor Swift’s “Invisible String” played in my mind. Taylor is usually my soundtrack to life anyway, but it was blasting here. It’s no surprise I loved this book.

This book was SOOO good!! I loved exploring all of Gemma's relationships and watching her character growth. Jack was just the sweetest despite the odd circumstances. I thought the plot was incredibly original and I honestly did not know how it would end (or feel like I've read something similar before). Truly such a sweet story and exciting read.

Do you love romance? Likable characters you want to see succeed? Over-the-top scenarios? Ever fantasized about getting stuck in a time loop where a kind, handsome, accomplished man goes out of his way to woo you? Then, The Déjà Glitch is the book for you!

In this charming love story, Gemma meets Jack at her best friend’s birthday party. Sparks fly as they spend the evening talking and getting to know one another. When the evening ends, Jack leaves Gemma with a mysterious sign-off. When Gemma wakes up the next day, it is actually a day she has experienced before, she just doesn’t know it yet…

I adored this! The writing is alluring and pulled me in immediately. While the time loop plot provides a bit of magical realism, the chemistry between Gemma and Jack grounds the story. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and think this would make for a wonderful rom-com movie. One minor point is that I felt only one (maybe two) of the livestream moments in the story were necessary to the plot.

I highly recommend The Déjà Glitch to anyone in the mood for a delightful romance. (And if you have not read Nothing But the Truth by the author - I recommend that as well. It is a smart, feminist spin on the movie “Liar, Liar” with a dash of romance). I cannot wait to read whatever Holly James writes next.

Thank you very much to Dutton and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Absolutely love love love!! Excellent story line following Jack and Gemma. This new twist on the ‘he fell first’ trope is fantastic. “I told you: it feels like the earth tilts, so when it happened twice in a row, it was a serious wake-up call.” I was left craving more of the fantasy elements that created the glitch in time. Overall fantastic romance novel!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Holly James for the advanced copy!

I wanted to enjoy this but found both the spice/romance scenes and the dialogue between the two characters odd and not easy to follow. It honestly made me cringe.

YOU GUUUUUUYS. First of all, the hugest thank you to Dutton for allowing me to read an eARC of this book! Secondly, everything you need to know off the bat is that I was approved for this book 7 hours ago, which is exactly how much time it took me to drop basically everything I needed to do today in order to finish it once it hooked me in the first two chapters.

You know those books that are so immersive that you feel like you have a movie playing in your head the entire time? That is 100% the situation here. I had a whole fancast going in my head. Between the magical realism elements, the setting, and the insanely likable cast of characters, this entire story was so charming that I didn't want it to end. With any story that uses a time loop trope, redundancy is typically pretty inevitable, and that can make for an exhausting at best (and boring at worst) read that doesn't always work for me. Without giving anything away, I can confirm with absolute certainty that this was in no way boring OR redundant, and I never felt the telltale urge to skim or skip ahead that can sometimes come from this trope.

The ONE thing that keeps this from being a perfect read, for me, is the inclusion of the influencer best friend's influencing, and more specifically her proclivity for livestreaming, that becomes pretty central at times. I realize that's nitpicky, but for me, heavy use of social media references in a book pulls me out of the story and makes things verge on cheesiness, even amidst a story that impressively veered away from that feeling in other tropes! While I love a melodramatic moment, one of the climaxes of this particular motif was the only part of the story that felt TOO overdramatized for me, even amidst a narrative including time loops and plenty of stretch-of-the-imagination grand gesturing.

That said, in case it wasn't painfully obvious, I really did love this book, and I'm so so excited to see others' reactions once it's out in the world!
