This was just so cute! I loved the idea behind it- a revamped modern day Groundhogs Day! The main characters were charming and both encountered struggles that they supported each other through. I love this in romance novels! I read this in just one sitting straight through to the end.

I’m addicted to time loops! I never resist the charm of them! If the authors throw high chemistry romance story into equation, I’m all sold! And I’m talking about Groundhog Day meets 50 First Dates kind of alluring plot line! Aren’t you still ready to jump into this blind? Just do it!

Deja Glitch: the most romantic time loop story; thanks to the contributions of best boyfriend hero Jack Lincoln who is trapped in same Thursday: colliding into a girl in a cafe shop while he’s texting and ruining her favorite T-shirt! He runs into the same girl for 147 times! Isn’t it crazy? He watches over a girl for nearly 5 months, falling for her so hard and he lets her go at each time she makes another excuse and very next day she doesn’t remember him.

Gemma Peters, daughter of music industry mogul who discovers new talents, a radio show producer who isn’t still realizing her potential to host her own show, nursing her emotional wounds after being used by a rock star wannabe!

Gemma is still harboring resentment to his dad for cheating on her mom and ruined her childhood. In addition to hurt her family, he supported his ex to become rock star even though that guy used her as like pawn to connect with her resourceful daddy!

Her unhappy, uneventful life changes when she meets a guy at cafe shop! Quick correction: they literally bump and spill coffee into each other!

That guy insists he kissed her yesterday which is also today. They’re living the same day over and over. They already dated 8 times and she’s the key for him to escape from the loop!

Is this guy crazy? But he looks sincere and he looks way too much handsome. And wait a minute! Gemma remembers their kiss even though she can swear she never met this guy before. She thinks she listened her favorite song with him. But her mind is so blurry. They didn’t listen anything together, did they? And that guy knows everything about her day including her brother’s plane delay, her issues with her ex, oh boy, he even knows her dog’s name and her memories about her childhood. Could Jack tell her the truth? Can she help him to be free from that loop and welcome his tomorrow?

I found Gemma a little stubborn and somewhat childish, irritating but I loved the dedication of Jack! He was adorable from the beginning. And he’s screenwriter, too. Of course he’s perfect!

Overall: even though Gemma made me pissed off several times, she was still tolerable and I connected with her at last chapters. The book is entertaining, sentimental, smart! Everything I needed from riveting love story/ mystery/ fantasy! As a die hard fan of time loops, I’m rounding up 4.5 stars ( half stars lowered because of heroine’s obnoxious behavior) to 5 ( for my love of Jack) to 5 glitching, deja vu, musical, Hollywood stars!

I am fan girl of Holly James and I’m looking forward to read her next work!

Many thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions!

I was forced to watch Groundhog Day for a seminar last year, and I HATED it. It made no sense to me how the other news anchor fell in love with Bill Murray in one day. That being said, you may find the rest of the review incredibly hypocritical.

The entire story places take, essentially, over the course of one day---and...I didn't really mind? By the end, I was like "yeah, I could see this happening to me."

The entire story is about Gemma, (and evens goes into her life beyond her romantic relationship etc.) but frankly all I cared about was Jack. We learn practically nothing about him except for a paragraph where he literally tells us his life story, and yet I was still rooting for him. He was such a team player.

Her friend Lila was worst---poor girl suffered from best friend in a rom-com syndrome. I could not stand her.

I liked how we, as the readers, didn't have the relive the day 148 times (only Jack did, rip). Instead, it was a cool spin on the time-loop trope that didn't make you feel like you were the one stuck in a time loop.

In the end, it was cute, lighthearted, and a fun read. 3.5/5 stars

AND... shoutout to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the ARC in exchange for a review!

I actually really enjoyed reading this! I thought with the time loop troupe would get boring and repetitive but I really think the author did a great job keeping it fresh. Thanks again for an e-arc! Looking forward to more this author has to offer!

This story was slow to warm up, and the MC was not initially likable and seemed rather immature. However, I am so glad I pushed through because this story was very cute! Gemma and Jack are both stuck in a rut, literally and metaphorically, and they have to work together to escape the infinite time loop. Jack was adorable and lovely throughout the entire story, and I liked it more and more the more he was featured. Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this eARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

I received an e-copy as an ARC from NetGalley and Penguin Random House in return for my review.

Read my play-by-play thoughts below or skip to the overall thoughts at the bottom, your choice. No hard feelings 👇🏻

I relate to Gemma and prefer books and blankets and a good cuddle with my dog over a night out on the town.

Awe, poor Rex having to take stairs so often to go outside and inside. That is bad on older dogs.

Okay, so they are both stuck in the time loop, but only Jack fully remembers, that's why Gemma keeps having the deja Vu feeling.

If I didn't know this was a groundhog day book I'd think Jack is coming off stalkerish at their first meeting of the day.

Yes! I love the idea of Gemma doing the Nigel interview!

Lila has a slight obsession with velvet..

Aunt Clara 😂

I was wondering when we would find out about her relationship with her father.

As someone who's lost a parent, I don't get upset at people who have an estranged relationship with their parents, but I go get upset if they know I lost my mom and continue to bitch about their mom to me..

147 days!!?? OMG! I'd be so miserable having to live the same day over that many times. My life now already feels like groundhog day with how repetitive it is, I couldn't imagine if it was truly the same day over and over.

Her not remembering is giving me 50 First Dates vibes, even though that isn't a time loop movie but a memory loss movie.

Awe, her brother is moving to Lagos permanently. 😞

I wonder if she's interviewed Nigel Black in one of the other 147 days.

So, he says she has.. but he could be lying.. I don't think he is, but she wouldn't know if he was or not.

Ahh! I was right! And she kissed him because he encouraged her to do it!!!

Poor Jack doesn't remember the day before, but it makes sense because it's been today for 5 months, I can't remember what happened on a Tuesday 5 months ago.

Could he be stuck in the time loop because of something he doesn't remember?

Was Jack in a relationship before this time loop started??

I like that she's going to see her dad. The thought that her dad lived near Jack didn't even occur to me even as she said that the area was familiar to her even though she avoided it.

It's been numerous years since her family broke, her dad has had an ample amount of time to regret his life choices, she would know this if she ever gave him a chance to get to know him again.

Her dad doesn't know that Nick and Gemma broke up... he wouldn't have pulled those strings for his band if he knew..

I wonder if these events solely happening in Gemma's life will effect the time loop.

I don't understand why she's upset when he doesn't remember what happened and that he technically hasn't seen Angelica in 5 months..

He's not going to go to Scotland just because she told him to..

Is Gemma going to go to the Nigel Black concert or out to the bars? I hope she goes to the concert..

Jack is actually leaving?? 😞 I don't want to believe it!

Okay, they are running through the airport now.. my thoughts, he isn't even at the airport.. maybe he went to the concert to try to find Gemma one last time?

I'm betting Gemma's dad is coming in clutch getting Nick and his band kicked off the show.

Okay, wait.. my brain is thinking.. does Jack have something up his sleeve? Did he cook up a plan with her dad or somehow with Nigel himself?

So sweet he got him to play her favorite song 🥰

Why would he think they would wake up where they fell asleep if the time loop wasn't broken? Had he fallen asleep somewhere different during one of the 147 other times to test that theory?

I like that she told Patrick the whole crazy story.

*Overall thoughts* I really enjoy the groundhog day type books, this one was no exception. I like the twist of the main character not knowing it's a time loop and it being the love interest. I also enjoyed that we as the reader didn't have to "live" the day multiple times and we just had little reminders of what happened as Jack told Gemma. The groundhog day books I've read in the past got a little repetitive in reading the same day with minor adjustments, so Holly James did an incredible job creating a groundhog day book without making it too much. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend and even purchase it for myself for a reread.

I Adore a Groundhog Day book!! I don't care if it's Christmas themed or not, which this is not, I will read it because I know I will love it and I did. I absolutely loved it. Top ten of my top books for the year. The story line was so cute! Once you pick up this book and start reading you won't be able to put it down.

A fun, quick groundhogs day rom-com. I enjoyed each of the characters in the beginning, but I found myself struggling to root for them. I'm not sure that they actually were supposed to be end game. Gemma is pretty immature and reads like she never got over her parents splitting up. Jack is more likable for me, but there's just something off about them as a pairing. Overall, it was easy to get through and is an enjoyable quick read, but not something you go back to read as a comfort read.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

THE DEJA GLITCH is a lighthearted, fun take on the Groundhog Day-esque story of living the same day over and over. Holly James writes a heartwarming tale about Gemma and Jack - Jack who remembers each time he has relived the same day, meeting Gemma and falling for her - and Gemma, our main character doesn't remember a thing. This new take on the Groundhog Day story was different enough to make this novel feel refreshing and unique!

Some aspects of this story and the writing felt a bit off - a little forced or hard to believe - but overall, I really enjoyed Jack and Gemma's love story, how they both grow as individuals and learn about themselves, and Gemma's relationship with her brother and best friend. In all, an easy read and an enjoyable one, too!

Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for this ARC, which I received in exchange for my honest review.

When I first started reading this book, I was concerned it would be too cheesy for me. Well, turns out I LOVE cheesy because I could not get enough and found myself SO invested in Jack and Gemma’s story. I can’t say what I would have done, or how I would have handled it if I were in her situation, but the hopeless romantic in me was rooting for them every step of the way.

Let me preface this review by saying that one of my favorite X-Files episodes is Monday, the episode where they keep repeating the day over and over again. So when I saw the premise to this book, I jumped on the opportunity to read it. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Gemma and Jack have been living the same day over and over again for 147 days. The catch, only Jack remembers each of those days and he was the one to discover that Gemma is the constant in each repetition of the day. Every time they meet, to Gemma it’s the first time but Jack has had 147 days to fall in love with her. It’s not until day 147 where she starts to remember him, triggering a series of events where we as the readers get to follow along.

A sweet love story between two characters who didn’t know what they were missing until it crashes into you in a downpour of lattes. No spice in this book but I loved how their lives didn’t get back on track until each of them had confronted the obstacles in their paths. I would really love to read this from Jack’s point of view and have the chance to follow him on each of those 146 encounters that came before lucky number 147. And initially that is what I was expecting. Nonetheless I enjoyed seeing this unfold through Gemma’s eyes.

Ok first, WHAT?? How did they end up in a time loop?? I was instantly hooked!!
Second. OMG Jack is the most patient man on earth (ag trying to get Gemma to remember him for 5 months!! I desperately wanted to know how this needed if all their efforts where worth it. What would happen if they finally made it to Friday!? Such a cute story line!!
Third.. Lila!!! This character annoyed me at times I'm not going to lie, but also she would encourage her best friend into something that she didn't even know if it was true or not.
We were all just playing along here and wishing for the best for Jack and Gemma!!

Jack’s stuck in a time loop, living the same day over and over. He believes that the key to breaking the loop is to get the woman who he has fallen in love with over the hundred plus cycles to fall in love with him. Gemma’s day is full of drama even before Jack shares his theory and relentlessly pursues their connection.

When it comes to romances, the grand gesture is often key to showing the hero and heroine have changed and have thus earned the happily ever after. In this book, Jack never seems to change significantly. His character arc instead is relegated to backstory in the numerous times he’s gone through the loop before the final time which takes place in the majority of the book. The way he seems to stalk Gemma came across as more creepy than romantic to me, and as was the demand that she fall in love with him after only knowing for a single day (despite their other iterations that she largely does not remember.) The author’s excessive use of exclamation points distracted me from the story to the point where I made a game of counting steaks of pages that contained one or more.

Gemma’s character arc does work well as she makes different choices from the previous loops. I adored her best friend Lila, a social media influencer, who uses her resources to help Gemma. Unfortunately, I’m not sure that Gemma is as good of a friend to Lila as Lila is to Gemma. I liked that the story was told primarily from the perspective of a character who was not initially aware of the loop, but who ended up being the key to breaking it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a fun read!
I was a little hesitant to request a copy, thinking that this story was going to be the “Groundhog Day” of RomComs. I was expecting to be a little disappointed by a series of connections, missed connections, arguments, and sweet romantic moments. It was none of those things! Rather than give us a series of repeated days and the accompanying twists and turns, this story covers one day. Sure, it’s day 140-something for the main characters, but it’s still just 1 day.

Why today? Why this time? It all started with a kiss. One little experiment turned into a series of changes that helps our couple connect. Will the connection be permanent? Or will it be a Dana glitch all over again?

Take a read and find out!

This is a good book not at all like some of the time loop books you read I like the plot cause it is pretty unique and Jack and Gemma are just fun together

3.5/5 Stars

I do not like a Groundhog Day type story at all. As long as they can avoid the dreaded feeing of constant repetition, then I do not mind reading them. Holly James does a really good job at keeping the reader entertained and not bored out to their mind when it comes to a story that is literally about repetition of something. I really enjoyed the father-daughter aspect, the LA setting, and Gemma’s influencer best friend, Lila. The main characters, Gemma & Jack, loved them, they had great chemistry.

If you enjoy clean, cute, romantic stories with a pinch of magical whimsy, This is your book. Thank you NetGalley for an ARC.

I received an advanced copy of this book for the purposes of writing a blurb, and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a fun, fresh take on the time-loop trope and a book that's difficult to put down. Romance readers and romcom fans will have a great time with this one.

You would think I’d run in the opposite direction when I see a Groundhog Day type of read but I actually really enjoy them! As long as they can avoid the dreaded feeing of constant repetition, time loops are just a really fun trope. Holly James added her little spin on it by having us follow a main character who is stuck in the same day but completely unaware of it while her love interest has had to suffer through it knowingly 147 times. The book takes place over the course of day 148. I really enjoyed the father/daughter aspect, the LA setting, and Gemma’s influencer best friend, Lila. I do think Gemma was incredibly immature for being in her 30s and a bit selfish regarding her brother’s storyline. I’m not a big instalove fun, which is crucial to the plot for this one. I also didn’t like a lot of the third act’s cheesy over-the-top gestures. Despite all that, it was a really fun read that I breezed through and I think the chemistry between the main characters and the overall character development made this a solid read. If you enjoy time-loop romcoms, this will be right up your alley.

What a perfect Groundhog Day romance!! I found all the characters, especially Jack and Gemma, to be so likeable. The chemistry between them in unmatched and I loved the timeloop which added some magical realism to the story.

What a charming book! I am a huge fan of modern time travel books and this did not disappoint!
Gemma meets Jack, but it isn’t the first time. She just doesn’t remember it. Jack keeps reliving the same day over and over and realizes that she is the key to making it stop. He spends the day following her and trying to make her believe/understand that he has none her for over a hundred days.
I loved so much about this book! All the characters were amazing and I loved the relationships they had with each other.
This book was so cute and would make a great movie! Definitely add this to your tbr list!
