Add this book to the list of go-to books I will automatically recommend without hesitation.

The time loop aspect of the story was written perfectly in my opinion, it didn't have the super repetitive aspect that happens a lot of times with this concept.

This books is fun, cute, funny, and overall a real feel good romance,

The first two chapters of this book had me hooked. It was a unique spin on the Groundhog Day time loop trope, the characters seemed interesting, and it really seemed like it was just going to be a cute read. BUT, then it all kind of started to go downhill for me. As the story progressed, I found it increasingly hard to like Gemma at all. Her insistence that her brother keep trying and trying and trying to get a flight instead of letting him just wait for a flight out the next day seemed selfish. Her constant hot and cold with Jack was frustrating, and I have no idea why he kept coming back. Also, Gemma's best friend was a famous influencer and I detest when characters in books are influencers.

I also wish the time loop had been more of a factor. I understand the appeal of making a book only span one day, but it would have been more interesting to me to read about Gemma experiencing multiple time loop days. I'm also usually pretty against split POV romances, but I think some Jack POV chapters could have really added to this story.

The over-the-top events in the last act of the book (the scenes at the airport and the concert) were cringey and almost made the book feel more...YA?

Judging by other reviews, I think I might be in the minority of this one. Also, maybe this one just caught me in a bad week. The author's writing style is pretty good. The concept was a fresh take on the time loop trope. The love interest was cute and unproblematic. It all just wasn't for me.

Thank you to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton and NetGalley for the e-ARC.

ARC REVIEW
The Deja Glitch by
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🎶 Gemma is having a weird day. Everything seems oddly familiar to her, even getting run into, with coffee flying everywhere, by Jack. But when Jack tells her the same day has been repeating for 5 months and she might be the key to ending the cycle, they both need to face some harsh realities about their lives.

This was an amazing book! Here’s what I loved:

🎶 the concept was great! And the author didn’t spent too much time weighting it down with heavy science. Instead she focused on our characters!

🎶 Gemma. I really enjoyed her and her storyline. We’ve all had times in our lives when we say we are fine but we really aren’t. This book gave Gemma an opportunity to really work out her issues and confront things that she kept pushing aside. I also adored Jack!

🎶 The time. The book takes place in one day, which I loved. It kept things tight and moving along.

Thank you to the author for the ARC book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this book. I was hooked from the second to last sentence of the first chapter - "Please remember me, Gemma". We've seen time loop stories again and again. But I loved this take because typically in time loops, we see the moment of realization from the only person who knows they're in a time loop. The story progresses by the main character needing to convince everyone around them and/or stop the loop themselves. I love that this inverts this. At the end of chapter 1 we are set up with the understanding that someone else knows they're in a loop but the main character whose perspective we're seeing isn't that person. I also loved the element of familial struggles. The way out of this glitch is not just one event or one person or one choice. Jack has my heart.

I've read enough Groundhog Day type stories and got burnt out by them because either they don't show you the full affect of the story happening and or the repetitive days to establish that it really is a Groundhog Day scenerio.

The Deja Glitch is an adorable story that is sweet, cute and clean and would make a great Hollywood film / romantic dramaedy. You have a main character who meets a cute guy at a party for her friend, she feels like she knows him and that while he seems to know a lot about her, her mind is drawing a blank. They leave the party and he gives her a kiss and tells her to 'please remember me'. She wakes up the next morning, the feeling of having experienced this all before come at her stronger than ever... and she bumps into that guy again. She remembers him, but not well enough.

It is because this universe has him in a repetitive reliving of this single day over, and over, and over again. He admits to her that he has relieved this day 147 days already and has tried so many different paths and outcomes which leads to him doing what he did, kissing her, which has caused an alteration in the way the path is unfolding.

The change in the main character being the one we have to follow instead of the person reliving this day over and over is good enough for me, and ups the stakes on the romance aspect and makes you focused on what will get her to fall in love with him when it had not happened the other 147 times?

I also liked the side story, and I liked that in this story she also had something to add in the way that this day is reliving over and over for him.

If you enjoy clean, cute, romantic stories with a pinch of supernatural whimsy, this is your book.

I recently read The Déjà Glitch by Holly James and it was an absolutely fantastic read! The story is full of suspense, intrigue, and adventure. Holly James has done a fantastic job of creating a complex and believable world. The characters are well developed and the plot is well paced. The way that Holly James weaves together fantasy, science fiction, and reality

I’m usually not a fan of deja vu/time loop books as they can seem almost never ending and you’re just ready to get to the point, BUT The Deja Glitch is like no other. I devoured this book in about 24 hours. The characters are so lovable and adorable you can’t help but adore them.

I seriously loved this book! It should be picked up for movie rights immediately. The story is clever and filled with colorful, fun characters, and outlandish scenes so unexpected I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. Holly James is so clever!

Such a fun book. I knew I wanted to read it once I read the premise. This book could have easily been predictable, but I didn't think it was. It had a few really fun twists. Gemma had moments where I wanted to yell at her and say "What are you thinking?" But honestly, who can blame her? She's supposed to just believe a time loop is happening, no questions asked. I don't think so. But in the end, it all worked out. Definitely, a cute rom-com, and I would recommend it.

4.5 stars out of 5: A great, cute, sweet read!!
I absolutely ADORED this title. I read it in just about 2 days and only put it down when I had to focus on other tasks. It pulled me back and I stayed up late to finish the story of Gemma and Jack.
The "Deja Vu" / "Groundhog Day" trope can sometimes be really difficult to follow or, more importantly, doesn't really serve to advance the story. But this delivered in every single way. I thought it was really interesting being in the POV of the person unaware that they're in the time loop (atypical for this story type), and I loved that we only saw one day of it. The repeatability can get real old, but this instead felt like a race against the clock!
I also loved that this wasn't JUST a love story. This trope tends to lean heavily on the love story and the rest is very inconsequential, but this instead made stories of family, friendship, closure, music, career, and life a much more centric part of the story line.
I would recommend this to anyone. I genuinely loved everything about it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for sharing this ARC.

The Deja Glitch is a cute time-loop romance that takes place in a single day, very reminiscient of "Groundhog Day". While I think the plot was fairly predictable it did not stop me from enjoying the journey that Gemma & Jack experience together. This is a fantastic, light romance novel that I would definitely recommend!

Wow! I started this book without reading the synopsis and was thoroughly surprised and delighted by the original premise. Such a sweet time loop romance that was so different than anything I’ve read this year. Thank you so much NetGalley for this ARC! Looking forward to reading Holly’s other books!

Thank you to Penguin Group Dutton and Holly James for allowing me to have an Advanced Reader Copy to Review for NetGalley!

It takes place in LA. Gemma is a local radio producer and Jack is a television screenwriter and they first meet at Lila’s Birhday party… but the kicker Jack has been stuck in a temporal anomaly for over 146 days (5 months). Jack tries so many different theories to try and get out, but Jack realizes that Gemma is the key to it all. Gemma tells her best friend Lila, who is an influencer and has many companies that send her goodies and has lots of followers, about Jack. Of course her best friend does not think that she is crazy and wholeheartedly encourages her to get back out into the dating scene and see what this temporal anomaly is about and to get to now Jack. But you will have to read the book to find out how he is a key component! ;) Gemma and Jack have issues that they need to sort out in order to be “unstuck.” Those issues also play a key role and you’ll need to read to find out on these too! Remembering that in order for one to move on with everything you need to not be stuck on things from the past. It is a good read. It reminds me of the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

Talks about: Science, Just Meeting to Lovers, Family Dynamic, Self Worth, Big Town

"To break out of a 24-hour time loop, all Jack needs is for Gemma to fall in love with him in a single day. All Gemma needs is to remember him first . . ."

In the month of December, I like to read only Christmas books. I like to fill the month with warm, festive reads. The Deja Glitch is not a Christmas book, but it was filled with all the right warmth and coziness.

I love books that play with time, and this one was no exception. (I am totally the friend you can call if you're ever experiencing a temporal anomaly.) This book was sweet, but not saccharine, funny, and grand gesture-tastic. I'm really glad NetGalley gave me advanced access to the manuscript. Once it comes out in August, it will be just as fun to read it then as it was this winter.

This is first book I have read by this author and I will be looking for more. This book was funny and endearing at the same time. Jack gets caught in a time loop reliving the same day 147 times. He is in love with Gemma but each day she doesn't remember who he is. He decides to shake things up and kisses her and turns out that is jolt she needs to remember him.

Lila is the best friend you could ever ask for and pushes Gemma to do things she doesn't want to do and forces her to see Jack as man who truly loves her. It is beautiful to watch the love unfold between Jack and Gemma and how they both change for the better.

Cute fun easy Rom Com with a few surprise twists. I have to admit I’m not a big insta love fan but this author did a great job making it believable. Jack is an insta book fave. Gemma on the other hand took a while to grow on me but in the end she did! This book is definitely worth picking up when you’re looking for something light and easy.

I really enjoyed this book. It was not a typical, predictable book. The characters were well developed, and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own.

The Rom-Com lover in me was over the moon at being approved for this completely adorable story!

I tend to read rom-coms in between thrillers to "cleanse the palate" and this story was just the medicine I needed after three thrillers in a row.

Gemma & Jack are so lovable and while a "groundhog day" isn't a new concept, I don't care!!! It was so adorable and perfect for anyone who enjoys rom-coms. The characters were easy to root on and relate to. Sometimes in stories like these, the characters can get annoying, but I didn't feel that at all.

I loved this book so much and highly recommend it!

Do you believe people can fall in love in 24 hours? What if they had to in order to break a time glitch that’s had one of them stuck in the same day for one hundred and forty seven days?

When Gemma Peters crashes into Jack one Thursday morning at a coffee shop, she thinks it’s nothing more than an inconvenience (and her favorite shirt ruined). But for him, it’s another chance to get her to fall in love with him. Throughout the day, Jack tests a theory and tries to get Gemma to fall in love with him so they can break out of the loop.

I absolutely loved this book. It made me wish that I could, like Jack and Gemma, be stuck in a loop where I get to experience The Déjà Glitch for the first time over and over again. I loved seeing how one seemingly small decision, event, and person can change the trajectory of someone’s life.

Thank you to Netgally and Penguin Group Dutton for the eARC of this book! I can’t wait to pick up a copy when it’s published.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I loved the ground hog day feel to the book and the time loop, I totally felt like I was in the loop with them. I could not put this gem down.
