One of my favorite tropes is a romance with a time loop. Seriously, I will pick them again and again and again. So, I was excited to read the Deja Glitch by Holly James. I had a good time, but it was missing something to make it a new favorite.

I thought Deja Glitch had a unique take on the time loop trope, as our POV (the female lead) doesn't know she is in a time loop. I found this to be an interesting way to tell the story. I enjoyed the couple, particularly their banter. I also liked the side characters, especially our female lead's best friend. However, I think the "bad guys" in the book were silly caricatures.

I would have liked a few more days in the loop, as most of the book takes place over one iteration of the loop. I get not wanting to make it repetitive, an often unfortunate side effect of a time loop, but I wanted a bit more.

Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am such a sucker for a time loop books! They always have my full attention from the beginning to the end of the book and this book was exactly like that! Also how cute is the cover

This was a fun romcom with major Groundhog Day vibes.

Gemma, a radio show producer, crashes into Jack, a TV show writer one morning in a coffee shop. For Gemma it’s the first time they’ve met. For Jack, they’ve met over 100 times. Jack is stuck in a time loop and he believes he needs Gemma to fall in love with him to break that loop.

Recommended if you like:
-time loops
-50 First Dates movie
-entertainment industry (radio/TV/live music)
-closed door/no steam
-He falls first
-great banter
-a top tier bestie

The only downside is that since this book is set all in one day - it was a bit long in parts. It was also a bit predictable - buy hey sometimes you need an escape.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy. The Deja Glitch is out now!

This was a cute rom com by a new-to-me author and I had a really fun time reading it. Gemma's life has not been going so well lately. She's working in the field that she loves, but not the job that she wants. Turns out her ex only used her to sidle up to her famous dad and jumpstart his own career. But when Gemma collides with Jack in a coffee shop, she thinks her luck might just be changing. Jack is cute and sweet and something about him is familiar, but that can't be, they just met, right? It turns out they are in a time loop and have lived this day multiple times. While Gemma doesn't remember meeting him, Jack remembers things all too clearly. In order for him to escape this time loop, all he needs to do is get Gemma to fall in love with him. Will he be able to succeed?
Time loop stories are such fun to read, and I really enjoyed this one. I liked seeing the growth of the characters as the plot progressed. Jack and Gemma were both charming characters and their dynamic just fit together perfectly. This was a very nice introduction for me to a new author and I look forward to reading more of her work!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Holly James's sophomore rom-com The Deja Glitch is so delightful and adorable! I found myself breezing through it. Think of it as Groundhog Day through Andie MacDowell's perspective. I always wondered what it was like for people on the other side of someone's time loop and now I know!

I enjoyed getting to know Gemma and Jack throughout what was hopefully going to be Jack's last round of the time loop...if he got everything right with Gemma, that is. The supporting characters were a lot of fun and I especially enjoyed seeing someone get their just desserts. I like that the story centered around music and I wish I could have known what song Gemma kept hearing all the time.

If you read Holly's debut, Nothing But the Truth, there's a small cameo in this one from the main character of that novel. (More like a mention, really.)

Some aspects reminded me of What You Do to Me by Rochelle Weinstein (both main characters live in L.A., have difficult relationships with their fathers, and work in the music industry--as do their fathers). I actually read that book shortly after this one, which enhanced the parallels for me, but they're completely different stories otherwise.

All I really need to say is that you will want to pick up this time travel romance ASAP! It's so easy to devour too.

Movie casting suggestions:
Gemma: Emma Roberts
Jack: Robbie Amell
Lila: Alexandra Shipp
Patrick: Ryan Lee
Roger (Gemma's dad): Rob Lowe

I enjoyed this book. I connected with the characters easily. I loved that it followed Gemma as she experienced everything and tried to break the cycle. Everything happening in one day across LA seemed a little unrealistic, but i was easily able to ignore that and route for Gemma and Jack in their love story and connecting with each other. I would recommended this book to others as it was clean and highly enjoyable.

Thank you Holly James, Dutton, and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed the time loop trope in this book. Its not a trope I am usually drawn to, because it can walk a fine line with being too repetitive. However, I think this book did an excellent job with it. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a really cute!

This was a fun read. I liked how the Groundhog Day plot was presented and I liked reading about the different days and what happened on certain days that had never happened before. There were also sweet moments like Gemma getting the courage to do a big interview and just generally coming out of her shell more.

A cute retelling of Ground Hog's Day but set in L.A.

Gemma wakes up every day and goes on about her day as usual. Every day for the past five months. Jack wakes up every day reliving the same day and knows it is the same day. He knows Gemma is the key to breaking the loop and is just trying to figure out how and falls in love with her.

I really liked this story. It was pretty unique to me, and the time loop was fun. I love the characters and the chemistry they had with each other. I'm a sucker for romance and this did not disappoint.

I adore time loop stories and The Deja Glitch is my most recent read. But I think, right off the bat, what I enjoyed about The Deja Glitch is that is addresses the unequal positions of Gemma and Jack. How Jack knows her, knows about her, and has all these feelings Gemma has only just begin to see. For Jack it's been so many 'todays' that he has begun to forget yesterday. And for Gemma yesterday is there and only a feeling of déjà vu makes her realize things may not be that simple.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "The Deja Glitch" and all opinions expressed are my own. I kinda like time loop books. This was a quick fun read, great for a summer beach read. I thought overall it was good.

Thank you to Dutton/Penguin Random House and Netgalley for this arc! All thoughts are my own.

A brand new take on the time loop romance and it was a ton of fun.

Gemma wakes up and goes through her normal routine, but as the morning progresses, she can't help but feel a sense of familiarity. It's not until she literally crashes into Jack that she realizes her world is about to be turned upside down. Jack tells her they've been stuck in a time loop for months and while he remembers every day, she has no idea who he is. The two of them set off on a journey to find some answers and maybe fall in love along the way.

I really enjoyed this one and felt like it was such a unique way of writing a time-loop romance. You couldn't help but root for these two to continue to find their way back to each other. There was also a great cast of side characters and it made this book such a fun read. Not only was the romance great, but I also enjoyed the touch of family relationships and personal growth.

For something different but a fun and refreshing read, I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to see what else Holly James comes up with.

The Deja Glitch is very similar to Groundhog Day but with an LA twist. The story is Jack has been stuck in a time loop reliving the same day for 5 months, and Gemma is the object of his affection. Jack has been trying to get Gemma to remember him the whole time, he also seems to be having some memory issues as well. I liked the characters and the way the story developed, liked the descriptions of Los Angeles (particularly the Hollywood Bowl) but I did have lots of questions. It sounded like a lot of love for so few dates they actually had in those 5 months, it seemed like there was a lot of faith needed on her part, and I just wasnt sure i loved it as much as I had hoped. It was enjoyable and a relatively quick read so I do recommend it.

This was such a cute, comedic romance! Based on the summary, I didn’t know what to expect because I had never read a book with this concept before, but I really enjoyed it. The time loop added an interesting element, even though you don’t technically get to see much of it. The characters had great chemistry and even though this can technically be classified as “insta-love,” it didn’t feel that way because of all the build-up.

Thank you to NetGalley & Dutton/Penguin for the ARC.

This is an adorably sweet rom-com style book. I requested it because the description had me thinking of the movie 50 First Dates. That is a pretty accurate description. The story is told from Gemma's POV as the female lead who is a practical, hard-working homebody. She finds herself literally running into a gorgeous but mysterious Jack and has her life turned upside down.

Jack KNOWS Gemma and is fully aware that they are stuck in a time loop and has to convince her that he's not crazy but also that he is in love with her and that may be the key to being able to move forward. He has his work cut out for him since Gemma is jaded and has some trust issues when it comes to love.

This was a quick read and while it was entertaining, I found it to be a little too predictable in some ways. it's a perfect beach/vacation read!

Time Loop Troupe that reminds me of 51st dates and groundhogs day. Jack had been stuck in the time loop for 3 1/2 months but the time loop in the book is only one day and because of this we didn’t get to see their relationship blossom. I think because the book only covered one day of the time loop it felt long and dragged out. The book was predictable but I enjoyed the characters. Thank you NetGalley for the e-book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin/Dutton for an e-galley of The Deja Glitch.

I loved this twist on Ground Hogs day - where we meet Gemma going through her normal routine when she literally runs into Jack. And what feels like fate, turns out to be a time loop that Jack has been living in for the past two months. We then embark on Jack and Gemma's journey to break out of the time loop...and fall in love. As Gemma works to wrap her mind around the idea of a time loop, we discover that not everything is as it seems.

Romance? Check. Time Loop? Check. Quick Read? Check.

While this wasn't the best book I ever read, it was a cute romance. This whole book is basically one day, so if you aren't a fan of that then this book might not be for you. I was expecting a little more "Groundhog Day" to be honest. Like, multiple days of our main characters trying to get out of the time loop kind of thing. Otherwise, I had fun with it and found myself rooting for the characters.

Such a cute little romance read. To but it lightly, it was adorable. Yes it had its cheesy moments, but that’s what makes a novel like this entertaining. I shared this novel with a friend and they also thought it was quite cute.
