The first in a heartwarming saga series set during the Second World War….. Beautifully written, compelling and thought provoking, I was drawn by the cover and blurb, not one I would normally read but I’m glad I did!

Amazing WWII historical fiction about a group of strong women, its about friendship, love & Strength in a tough world.

This is my first read by Rosie Archer and I really enjoyed learning about each character and followingeach of their stories. I loved the relationships, the friendship between the girls and the romantic ones aswell. Each of the girls where totally different from each other and has their own reason for signing up. I liked Trixie, Hen, Jo & Vi equally.

The Timber girls was an interesting read and I Highly recommended. I will be reading more from Rosie Archer in the future.

The first in the series of this new Rosie Archer saga,
It's 1942 and young women and girls are signing up to train as lumberjills.
Trixie Smith is the lead role with three other girls.
Unfortunately, I couldn't connect any warmth the characters or the story maybe because I had never heard of lumberjills and knew nothing about them.
I felt the story was too drawn out and then the ending rushed.

Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. xx

|Rose Archer is a great author and here she is with yet another great book. War time,, we all know that the girls did the hard work and this was hard but it is lovely to see this side of the war with a story to go with it. Well worth 5 stars

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this RC

While this was an enjoyable enough read, it was simplistic and predictable. There was too much telling - I really dislike when characters convey historical information in conversation as it becomes too stilted and forced rather than sounding like a natural conversation.
The first half of the book was very slow; it did become more interesting as it progressed, enough so that I will probably continue the series.
It was particularly interesting to see a book about a lesser known occupation of women during the war. It was not until 2007 that these women received official government recognition of their efforts.

4 girls are going to be lumberjills, its their way of doing their bit for the war

and along their journey they become firm friends but each of them have their own reasons for joining the lumberjills

as their basic training comes to an end their lives are about to change again as they each will be sent onto where their new skills are needed, worrying times as they have become firm friends but its the weekend visit home that finally makes them understand each other better and brings their friendships closer

4 women from different parts of society, brought together as lumberjills and what a story it is..cant wait for the next book in this series

This was a sweet read and I enjoyed being back with the Timber girls again. This is such an interesting side to the war that nobody really knows or thinks about. Especially the fact that it’s women who do all the hard work. A lovely series. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Following, Vi, Hen. Jo and Trixie was both heartwarming and sad in equal measure. I loved how the story of each of the girls unfolded as they trained to become lumberjills in Scotland. I enjoyed reading of the reasons why the girls wanted to leave their homes and move to Scotland to become lumberjills. A compelling read that I found hard to put down.

Wow, I felt emotional reading parts of this as the girls Hen, Jo, Trixie and Violet get to know each other, while each of them comes to terms with their reasons for being there. They have to adapt to a different way of life while working hard in the forest, in beautiful surroundings.
It’s very descriptive in a person centred way with some of the characters ( Donnie Mackay in particular) makes you really like the man.
Some of the girls stories are heartbreaking, especially Vi being so young
It was most reassuring to find out that there is a follow on, I just loved it, as I have all Rosie’s books.

The first in a new series by Rosie Archer.

The Timber Girls is set in 1942, and sees Trixie leaving her hometown of Gosport to travel to Scotland to become a lumberjill. Here we also meet Vi, Jo and Hen, all also from Gosport, with their own stories to tell. The story follows the girls and their training, hinting at more stories and background to come.

On her journey to Scotland, Trixie meets Cy, an American soldier, and they form an instant connection. The book also follows Cy and his friend Hugo as they deal with the hell of war.

A strong first introductory novel, I'll definitely be looking out for the next in the series!

I found this book to be interesting. There are so many unknown elements of WWII, and this delves into one I had no idea about. I'd be interested in reading the next in the series.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher (and author) for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I usually love these kind of books but I struggled to connect to the characters in this book. Although I didn't enjoy it as much as I would usually do I did find the job of a lumbergill quite and interesting and something I would never have thought about happening during the war. I'll probably pick up the next book in the series to see how it pans out
