This is a sweet story perfect for fans of Viola Shipman, Kristy Woodson Harvey, and Mary Alice Monroe. The plot is admittedly a little predictable. But I enjoyed Esme's journey and her entertaining time with her grandfather, mother, and the traveling chef. The quilts were a nice touch. This is not a complicated or surprising story in any way, but it's thoroughly enjoyable.

If I could encapsulates my entire feeling for this book, without a shadow of doubt I would use the word: JOY. Because that’s what I felt amidst and after I finished reading it. Following Esme on her journey, watching the character’s arc, growth and development was amazingly joyful for me

Esme has returned home to Asheville to lick her wounds after her life in the Big Apple becomes something resembling a dumpster fire. Before she died, Esme’s grandmother, Adele, had begged her granddaughter to come home and it would appear Esme has arrived just in the nick of time. Her family’s lakeside resort is in a slow state of decay and they are mere steps from bankruptcy. Taking charge, with the help of her grandfather, her estranged mother and a traveling chef, Esme tries to turn this ship around before it sinks. The discovery of old, and potentially very valuable quilts in the attic leads Esme on a journey to discover her family’s past and perhaps her own future. A simply lovely story about home and family
