This book was so adorable and fun. I loved the message of boosting up people with different interests than you and celebrating other people's passions. The pigeons in this book are so fun and full of personality. I could be entertained by these illustrations for hours and know plenty of children in my life that would get a kick out of their varied expressions.

There are so many things about this book that I really, really like! The greek chorus of pigeons is wonderful, and the illustrations are the perfect combination of adorable and hilarious. The implicit lesson about supportive and loving friendships was not lost on me. I was all in.

I did end up taking a star off because I really struggle with the book conclusion. There's a lot of setup in this "reverse art heist" with very little payoff in the denouement. I wish there was more. Maybe a panel with museum patrons examining the art piece? or a new set of neighborhood pigeon art critics? It almost feels like maybe there's a page missing or something.

Still, as a librarian, I would want to try this book at story time. The illustrations are so rich and the characters are cute, I think it could invite good interactions with the kids.

This is my very first NetGalley review! Thanks to Kind World Publishing for the digital ARC.

What an absolute delight This Art Is for the Birds by Susan Bednarski is to both read and look at!
The story of a crow that is an artist being supported by his group of friends is a heartwarming look at the importance of one's friends in life. The artwork of water colour paintings is gorgeous and adds another level to the story, with each bird having its own unique look and personality. The bird puns are fun and sure to hit the readers' funny bones.
Kids and adults both can learn from this beautiful book, with lessons on supporting each other, creativity, and working as a team to get things done. Adults will definitely enjoy reading this to their kids, and following the author's suggested discussion points at the end of the book
I am thrilled to have received a copy of #ThisArtIsfortheBirds from #NetGalley.

Alex the pigeon enjoys creating art with things he finds around town. His friends decide to help him get it into a museum. This story has elements of comic design with the birds having speech bubble comments on each page.

I think most of the humor is something that adults who like art would understand. However, it may go over the heads of children. Though, they will still probably enjoy a book about birds making art, as that is an adorable concept.

An adorable tale about determination and persistence to overcome challenges we face as we pursue our dreams. Highlighting coping skills to handle stress such as problem solving, ingenuity and thinking outside the box, this has many critial SEL lessons in a cute and funny story. Alex Crow wants to get his art into a museum and with the help of his friends, a bit of cleverness and hard work, Alex works toward his ultimate dream and goal of seeing his art hanging on a wall. The watercolor illustrations were a warm touch to a story about believing that you can achieve anything. This is a great book for classrooms or counseling offices with a focus on growth mindset.

Alex is a bird, but he's also an artist, He loves to visit the museum and find inspiration. His friends (also birds) appreciate his keen eye. They love the things he makes and proudly wear the presents he gives them. When they go to the museum, they don't see anything as good as Alex's work, so they decide to take one of his pieces to the museum.

The title of this book is clever and was one of the first things that drew me in. The cover is really evocative, particularly after you've read the book. I enjoyed the birds' journey to the end - particularly their interactions with a museum docent and a revolving door. In amusing asides, the birds ask and answer questions about words and art throughout the story. The bird puns are both funny and groan-worthy in the best possible way. Their observations and delight in Alex and his work bring about a joyful tone. The back matter includes a note from the author and reflection questions.

This is a book that you can read and find something new in over and over again. I recommend it to anyone who loves art, birds, or books about friendship and appreciation.

The art is well done, though in a sketched style that doesn't seem like it'd be as interesting to kids as some of the brighter, clearer illustrations are. The story itself is very simple, and a lot of it is told through speech bubbles for this group of birds. They work together to make something happen for another bird outside of the group, but I'm not even sure that bird wants that to happen. Either way, the story was almost too simple and I'm not sure the actual message gets across.

The Art for the birds is a sweet and cute story about friendship, kindness, and supporting one another. One of the pigeon's dream is to become an artist and have his artwork displayed an art gallery. How cute is that? The pigeon's friends encourage the pigeon to follow their dreams and helps "break in" the art gallery to have them displayed. I also appreciated the author's note in the end about how to discuss and ask questions about this message to young children. The illustrations were lovely and comical. I will be reading this to my littles! Also, this title-I love it!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the Arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A cute book for kids interested in art or to introduce the idea of galleries. The pigeons are always stuck outside the museum and only want to support their artist friend (also a bird!) who would love to see his art displayed inside. The book follows their mission of trying to get his art on display.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publishers for letting e access this book in exchange for my feedback.

Very cute read.

I was pleasantly surprised at this cute little book. The book is about a group of pigeon friends. They are all different. One of them is an artist. The group of friends think that the artist friend's art belongs in an art museum. They work to try to get his art into a museum.

This book is great for Transitional Kindergarten to 2nd grade classrooms. The art is fantastic and colorful. The story itself is cute. There are some good chuckles for adult readers. It is a fun little book that will definitely leave readers smiling. There is also 3 reflection questions at the end. For readers looking for more of an introduction to art and different types, this is not the book for you. It is more about the pigeons and their perseverance. The art is the fun backdrop through which the pigeons get to go through their challenges.

I recommend this book to teachers and parents.

I absolutely love this story. I'd read this in a graphic novel form, I'd read this novelization, I'd watch this as a movie adaptation. Yes to all of those because it's just so fun. Pigeons and a crow creating art with camaraderie and puns a-plenty. What's there not to like? I want more stories like this for children and for me, please. This is so much fun.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

I felt like this story was told more through the pictures than the words. There was a narrative to follow, with the pigeons chiming in, sometimes with inaccurate information that was quickly corrected by another pigeon. The language was pretty basic so a budding reader could probably work through this book. You could almost read this with a group of young readers, assigning each child a pigeon to voice.

The illustrations are where the story really shone though. They complemented the events being narrated perfectly, pulling the reader along. Seeing the birds congregating and carrying out all the actions described really brought the story to life.

I would definitely read this story more than once because it had me giggling, one of the pigeons in particular was largely responsible for that. Overall I give it 4.4 out of 5 stars.

I had a good time reading this book, with the clever art, witty lines, and the beady eye of corvid Alex as he constructs more art out of junk.
Among messages we can take are the use of green space and trees in a city; the items we discard, which become litter; the fun to be had from watching birds; the place of museums; the value of friendship.
Reading age from four to eight, reader age for enjoyment limitless.
I read an e-ARC from Net Galley. This is an unbiased review.

Quite possibly the cutest book I’ve read. The message, the story, and the art work is all so perfect. An extremely adorable read for people of all ages.

A short, at first seemingly lighthearted read about a group of pigeons determined to display a friend’s artwork in a museum. This would be a good prompt for discussions around art - what is it? Who decides if it is good or not? The book also provides opportunity to discuss friendship and supporting a friend’s interest of talent even if you may not share it. Illustrations are good and there is one pigeon always distracted by food who is likely to raise a smile.

This is a cute book about a group of pigeons who know their friend Alex is an artist. They want the figure a way to get the mobile Alex creates to a museum for others to enjoy. There is a lot of sweet messages is this short picture book. I like the pigeons know their friend has different interests and likes collecting. And they are supportive. Art is subjective. One person can see beauty when others see junk. I thought the water color drawings enhanced the storytelling. And although they are all pigeons they are drawn differently and in minimal words have their own personalities. I could easily read to younger grades in my school library. Thank you to Kind World Publishing for the temporary ARC.

This cute picture books follow a group of pigeons as they try to get one of there fellow pigeon's art into a museum. The story and dialog was simple enough for a small child to follow or a beginning reader to read on their own. I liked that there were questions at the back of the book to help children to think about the book and the characters more deeply. I loved the illustrations. The watercolor and ink drawings added so much and really added the story.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I loved this book about birds who want to put Crow's artwork in the art museum, especially since crows are known to collect things and create art for real.

Art is for everyone - including birds! In this charming children's story, a group of pigeons plot to get their friend's artwork into the local museum. The watercolor illustrations are adorable, and I loved the story where the birds, rather than seeing their artist friend as an oddball, celebrate him and want others to see his art. Loved it!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so cute!! The illustrations are engaging and the storyline of the birds is great! This can be used to discuss teamwork or ways to help each other out as well as using it to discuss art styles, etc. It also features a theme of perseverance which is always important for children to see modeled!
